Remember a few years ago when Kieron Dyer was absolutely desperate for him to come to Playford Road and give a speech to the squad? Repeatedly ignoring that request is probably the best thing Mark Ashton's done since he's been here. |
 | Forum Reply | Cajuste and Matisuwa were outstanding last night. at 12:41 13 Sep 2025
Yeah, drifted through it a bit and certainly one of his quieter games. Some of the stuff he does on the ball is beyond what most if not all midfielders at this level are capable of but needs to get more involved off it. Sure that will come though as he gets used to the division. |

He was class, better than his CB partner last night imo. He's another who's been harshly judged because people had a sentimental connection to the guy he replaced so any criticism on him is intensified whereas Burgess becomes more and more mythologised. Him bringing the ball out and joining the attack is definitely a big asset if we can keep working on it as it's definitely a high risk/high reward tactic. |

Hmm, not sure. Obviously we've often used that side of the pitch to be more workmanlike while a lot of creativity happens down the other flank but even accepting that I'm yet to be that convinced by him. Time to grow into the role of course and it doesn't help having a different player behind him every game but doesn't seem to have the strength or decision making that Burns has. Certainly if Burns was fit and available I'd be sticking him in as first choice. |

No-one ever has a problem with the ref when we win, funnily enough. Only seem to get the bad ones when we lose. |
 | Forum Reply | Blackburn Away at 14:02 5 Sep 2025
Well yes there are plenty of reasons why people can't/don't want to go which is absolutely fine. That's sort of part of my point - there are people on here and elsewhere (usually ones in the highest points brackets) who like to patronise the rest of the fanbase and go on about how lazy they are for not making the effort to go to away games and therefore deserve zero sympathy if they ever voice a desire to go to a match they can no longer get access to. It was the same before Preston - people acting like we weren't going to sell many past the higher brackets because the lower ones were full of lazy entitled people who only want to travel as far as London for an away game, but it reality the majority of seats were taken up after access was opened up to the lower brackets. |

I'd forgotten about the squad photo furore, and Lambert randomly bringing it up with Stu Watson weeks later to try and get one over him but, as with everything else he said or did, only succeeding in making himself look more pathetic and unlikable. |
 | Forum Reply | Blackburn Away at 13:42 3 Sep 2025
Evidence would suggest the opposite is true - all the bandwagoners who started going that season when the points system was announced have now decided they can’t be arsed as they’re only now interested in going to closer ones. |
 | Forum Reply | Hey Jude pre match.. at 09:27 3 Sep 2025
Rob Chandler was clearly very good at it but I feel like people have forgotten that his style was very similar to the current bloke, albeit this guy dials up the over-excitement a bit. Probably also given some direction from the club on what they want him to do rather than give him completely free rein. Chandler would 100% do the 'Blue Army' thing for example which does get a big response and gets the crowd going but despite that outcome (what everyone claims to want from pre-match atmosphere) it still gets derided as 'cringe' or whatever. He/the club will never win because some people will always moan about something. |

I think the 'fans not using the price tag as a tool to bash a player despite them having no say in it' ship has long since sailed unfortunately. |
 | Forum Reply | EADT quite pathetic. at 19:08 1 Sep 2025
Their coverage this summer has been pretty rubbish to be honest. Don't think it's fair for people to say they have no exclusives or anything new as Stu Watson's been first to a few things but unless he's across something then there isn't any other meat on the bone. The totally pointless 'transfer roundup' pieces which just listed various rumours and offered no journalistic insight into them, instead going for a series of 'source sort of reliable, could be true' or 'source not very reliable, probably not true' were a particular lowlight. Appreciate they have to get stuff into print for the papers and it's very tough when not much is happening but not sure how many people are interested in some jabroni who played for us half a decade ago moving to a different lower league club. |
 | Forum Reply | Utterly strange to me that we seem to have moved away from at 17:28 1 Sep 2025
Don't think it's that strange really even if it's happened more quickly than most people might have thought. Chaplin's the only leaver (presumably anyway) that doesn't fit into a bracket of 'rejected what we offered and moved for better elsewhere' or 'wanted out and we didn't stand in their way'. There's always pressure when you want to be at the top but the only way it will weigh anyone down is if our div fans continue to not give any new(er) players much of a chance because they'd rather take their sentiment-driven grumbles into the stadium. |
 | Forum Reply | Keeping 4 RBs and Humphreys but getting rid of Chappers at 16:13 1 Sep 2025
Yeah his early season form has been pretty crap let's be honest. Agree with general feeling that if we decided the time was to move on then we should be trying to find a buyer rather than loaning him while his contract runs out, mind. |
 | Forum Reply | Philogene stats from today make for ugly reading ... at 23:18 30 Aug 2025
Timid from him today which was a shame given he was one of the few bright sparks last week (and was good against Southampton), but I do feel for him a bit as he seems to have become the poster boy for over spending/bad recruitment which means he gets zero credit for anything from a section of the fanbase. He didn't decide what fee the club paid for him. He was among the most dangerous attackers last time in the Championship for Hull but for whatever reason hasn't shown much of that here. Rosenior did seem to have his attackers playing more off the cuff than following stricter tactical instructions so maybe that suited him more? Not that he couldn't have done more but he was doubled up on every time he had the ball today and Davis didn't really offer him a huge deal of help. |
 | Forum Reply | Inverting Leif isn't working at 19:26 30 Aug 2025
Yeah am slightly concerned that we've throttled the most potent attacking area of our team for no real gain. Only time that left hand side looks threatening right now is when Greaves bombs on and causes an overload. |
 | Forum Reply | Travis kick in Jen’s face at 19:07 30 Aug 2025
Yeah think VAR would be telling the ref to go and have a look and upgrade the card to red. Very obviously kicked his heel into Cajuste's head/shoulder area - might not have meant to actually connect but he did and should be have been properly punished for it. |
 | Forum Reply | What is up with Hirst? at 19:01 30 Aug 2025
Yes that had crossed my mind. Not to be too reactive but if Azon has a good couple of weeks on the training pitch now while Hirst's away then I'd be seriously considering giving him the nod against Sheff Utd. Or at least a bit more than a token cameo. |
 | Forum Reply | As bad as the ref was, at least he had the balls to add the time on at 18:42 30 Aug 2025
Didn't help that the ref was giving everything and anything they tried conning him over but that was genuinely one of the worst (best?) anti-football displays I've ever seen from a team. Fair enough they do what they want and it's our job to stand up to it but bloody hell. Be nice to watch us play a decent football match at some point. |
 | Forum Reply | What is up with Hirst? at 18:31 30 Aug 2025
Was a bit surprised to the reaction in some quarters to his performance against Southampton to be honest. His best one so far but was still a bit patchy. Since then he's looked an utter donkey unfortunately. Two games in a row he's been eaten up by very average centre-backs and his touch has been appalling - we're too slow as it is but really not helpful when we play the ball up to our striker and his second touch is a tackle every time. Shame as I thought he looked really sharp and focused in pre-season, got a goal in the first game that should have given him a boost but hasn't kicked on. |
