That El Mizouni - he's not ready for first team football
at 17:28 18 Jan 2021

Sure but they give an indication as to how someone is performing at the very least. The stats also give an indication to why Hoolahan has played more - he's ahead of El Miz in several attacking ones.

As is the problem with loans, if the guy who's already at the club is performing well, then it's unlikely the loan player will get as much game time, which doesn't necessarily reflect on their ability or effort but is just the way it is. Unless you're Ipswich Town, in which case playing other club's players over your own is for some reason a priority.

Given some of the comments by the players and/or their partners, it seems they own more racquets than they do brain cells.

"I didn't think I'd have to isolate if someone on my plane tested positive" was a good one.

That's the sort of thing I imagine they'll do more of now. Means they don't have to explicitly call for him to be sacked but making a fuss of these sorts of stats in the paper and online puts the pressure on a little more.

He deserves a go. He didn't play as much as either he or Town wanted but he's played more league minutes than Harrop has this season, has greater versatility and his attacking stats rank him right among the top of Cambridge's team per 90 minutes.

The flip side is that we won't play in a way to make his individual skills shine, like everyone else in the team, because we move the ball around so slowly. I feel a bit for Dobra as whilst he's still a bit raw, we don't get to see much of his dribbling ability because by the time we give him the ball he's got at least 2 defenders on him and has to get past another 2 at least before he can create something. Sadly probably better for El Miz if he goes on loan to a team that plays with a higher tempo and get themselves really involved in the opposition third. He'll learn fck all under Lambert.

He'll just do what he did when Watson called him out on Friday about lying about 'never changing the team too much' after he was given advice about it 6 years ago - mutter something almost incomprehensible about injuries. That or he'll get aggressive with him again and accuse him of being somehow responsible for the poor performances.

They're doing that because Leiston and Saxmundham surgeries are making sure they do their 'own' as a priority so aren't seeing those in Aldeburgh and Orford as you'd expect they might. Def info.

Not ideal as you say, though from what I gather most places are getting through the list of people at a pretty rapid pace so hopefully people still waiting will hear soon.

Will be surprised if there isn't an overly aggressive or patronising dig at the media/fans for creating 'unbelievable' negativity.

The league is so poor that scraping dire wins against rubbish teams will see us around the top 6 for a while yet which will only keep him in the job longer.

Pretty turgid half so far. (n/t)

Was about to post Downes pretty much the only one trying to move the ball with any real tempo but has only seen the ball when he's intercepted it himself.

Overall though it's the same as it ever was this season. Very slow build-up with a lot of static players off the ball, not looking particularly sure of what to do in possession.

As you say Burton being awful doesn't help the flow of the game but you've got to say a heroic block has stopped us going in at HT 1-0 down.

Every coming together is a foul and yellow card for Town apparently. I suppose if you’re going to be biased you do it properly.

Kieran and his view on Newcastle
at 12:12 16 Jan 2021

Lot of Newcastle fans annoyed at that saying he's clueless but it seems pretty clear the comments about Bruce were a smokescreen for a soft pitch at taking over from Lambert.

So refreshing to hear someone speak with so much positivity and passion for the club rather than the world's most miserable man mumble away about utter nonsense every week.

Could the next four games make or break our season?

Burton will be a horrid game where they sit in a very low block whist we pass it around slowly in front of them. It'll probably go in the same way as the home game where we labour to an unconvincing victory but a dire 0-0 or 1-1 really isn't out of the question.

The other 3 teams are actually good and it's genuinely hard to see how we come out of them with anything.

Jesus Christ the man's a complete weapon. The journo mentioned is the same one who had his tweets printed off and thrown around.

He's a moron. The funniest example was a Villa journo saying Lambert used to print off the guy's tweets, scrunch the bits of paper up then chuck them onto the office floor.

Hard not to think these 'letters of support' are just him using his left hand.

Funny how this alleged outpouring of support is coming through an archaic medium that can't be verified by anyone.

This is everything I can't stand about our manager

Yes, whatever you can level at Jewell, he knew when he had outstayed his welcome and told Evans to do the right thing. He knew he needed to go then to allow someone else the time to save us.

In hindsight that was a warning sign that whilst Evans gives managers time (unless they're a nuclear bomb of a disaster like Hurst), he's too slow/reluctant to make those decisions if no-one really gets in his ear. You've summed up Lambert there - no way he's going to admit he's out of whatever ideas he had in the first place, more than happy to pick up what is presumably a very handsome pay packet regardless of the damage he's doing to the club.

Replied similar in another thread - he's just going through the motions at this point, all interest in the club has gone and he's just so comfortable in his position that he doesn't feel he needs to make the effort.

I really can't stand him - he's a stain on this club both in his performance on the pitch and his behaviour off it.

Not that many other businesses are like football, but if an employee in another business acted like this in public whilst representing said business, they'd be given a huge b0ll0cking by senior management and most likely face some sort of disciplinary action.

I know it's not worth getting worked up or over-analysing manager-speak but it really doesn't sit comfortably with me how much control he seems to have over the club and how he behaves.

When he went on his stupid hostile rant at Watson about the NHS photo (long after the incident had occurred, and which he was wrong about), other journalists who have had the misfortune of dealing with him at other clubs were saying he has form for claiming he doesn't care about outside criticism and doesn't even read it, but then clearly demonstrates he has detailed knowledge on the subject and gets really worked up about it.

Like a lot of people who suffer with delusion he has incredibly thin skin (whatever he says otherwise) which is why he keeps making these stupid excuses and blatant lies whilst having a go at the press all the time. He's a total idiot.

Another good one was him saying how he learned to stick to a philosophy and never change the team around too much 6 years ago, then immediately getting called out on it by Watson pointing out he did exactly that last season, then giving the excuse about injuries in response for some reason.

There are so many quotes from that today that are just entirely ridiculous or straight up stupid. He's completely going through the motions and has lost all interest in the job. Evans getting rid would put everyone out of their collective misery.
