An Ipswich fan living in Norwich
at 22:34 3 Dec 2018

Now more than ever has been an awful time to live in Norwich while supporting the team down the road. One to say I’m proud of. The club, it’s history rich and full of achievement. All this has started to become void in this era especially when you haven’t beat these canaries in so many seasons. I find myself arguing with my reflection about whether going down would be a good idea. It would be a great opportunity to get a fresh trophy in the cupboard. It would be a great story to be so far away from safety and start another season in the championship with more hope than the start of this one.

I’m more comfortable with the latter because of one important factor. A January transfer window. It gives PL a huge chance to recruit, influence and develop his team. Whether he can get what he wants will be determined, I personally think, from how deep ME will dive into his pockets. Something needs to change. Managers come and go. McCarthy did wonders for our club, I don’t care what anyone says he over achieved if we are all honest. Whether the football was terrible, the recruitment was questionable at times, he always managed one thing and that was getting results. Results is what we are looking for now and I believe PL can do it. I wasn’t sure when he was initially recruited, I was an avid ambassador for Burley to rejoin the club but maybe that could still happen one day. I love the thought of GB back with all 30,000 of his own.

Talking to many Norwich fans, once the smug and slightly justified banter ends, a serious conversation about Ipswich occurs. 99% of those fans believe PL will save us. Is it because they feel so good about Norwich, they feel slightly sympathetic? I don’t know. However, history proves PL was the right man for Norwich and I hope he is our Hero.

I trust in PL, I trust in Chambers, I trust in the club staff, my trust in Marcus Evans is slowly breaking. I hope I’m wrong.

I have put my thoughts down on paper. My first ever time I’ve posted in a forum and I’m a 24 year old Ipswich fan living in Norwich. I try my best to get to every game I can. I play Saturdays so any other time they play I’m there which recently has been West Brom and Bristol City. I wish, we all as fans could pull together and get to the stadium rocking like we did at West Brom the best atmosphere I have experienced since we got to the play-offs in McCarthys reign. Although, I understand the current situation at the same time. Why spend all that money when results aren’t going our way. Why travel? Why pay? Why waste my time? Why bother? All these questions pop into my head when I get my weekly email from ITFC. I don’t blame people not turning up when all these years we’ve waities for the same thing and that’s to be promoted and I take my hat off to those fans that do. I hope one day I am just like you.

One reason I am ultimately proud of being an Ipswich fan, we never give up on hope. We are optimistic, ambitious and resilient fans. We will get what we want and I think PL can give us that.
