Don't think he had a great night, but hopefully his time will come. I did wonder if maybe we've shifted approach slightly so the space that Burns used to exploit is afforded a bit more to the left-hand side.

Funniest thing you’ve ever seen happen
at 15:48 11 Sep 2025

At university, lazy day just sitting around eating and drinking. One of my housemates is bored so f*rts into an empty two litre bottle of orange Tango - one of the black ones - and closes the lid.

Other housemate comes home and we ask "does this smell off to you?". He sniffs the bottle and we squeeze it so his nose is flooded with the smell. He falls to his hands and knees and vomits like a cat with a fur ball.

It was nearly 30 years ago and it's never not funny.

I heard quite a nice phrase last week - "History does not repeat itself, but it does rhyme."

Farage is bookies favourite to be the next PM, and I don't think that's just for the headlines/rage betting. I reckon it's a coin toss at the moment between him and anyone else.

No question that he'd still be here if we hadn't gone up when we did, got all the money etc. One of the very best.

A new era begins, we will always love you 2022-2025 team
at 21:55 1 Sep 2025

I fear we will never see the like of it again. We seem to have entered an era now where you need to build a new team for each new league you enter. It's sad, but it also makes what they achieved even better and even more special.

Time for new heroes now.

I'm fifty in a few weeks and this one has nearly broken me. My favourite player since Marcus Stewart and Matt Holland.

Go well CC.

Phil - somebody has mentioned there may be interest in Chaplin.

That would be the hardest one for me, even worse than Skip. I think he should stay for footballing reasons, let alone leadership. If we're flying in January and he's not getting game time then maybe..

Reform are dangerous - pt. 2,675,823

Agree with all that, but I said he'd be PM, not that Reform would win the election.

I think those two things might be different.

Egeli, plus a CM and a CF....

Difficult to be optimistic isn't it? They really need to be 8-figure purchases, both looking at being first choices - I love Hirst, but we have the money and pull to do better. It's going to be chaotic either way...

There's every chance that Farage will be PM in a few years time. The global shift to the right is kicking in here now and it'll be all too easy to argue that the last two 'establishment' governments have failed.

Immigration is out of control (whatever your view, it's hard to say that it's under control), cost of living continues to rise and there are no political powerhouses or personalities to rally around.

Hopefully something or someone can emerge in the next couple of years otherwise we're heading for our own mini-MAGA world. Scary stuff.

Eternal Optimist?

Didn't Sunderland lose 17 games last season? We could be bottom at Halloween and still make the play-offs. Not that anyone would be alive to see it though because everyone's heads will have exploded.

Worst I can remember and if it was always like this I wouldn't visit. The negativity was worse at other times (e.g. end of MM) but at least everyone was in agreement then! At the moment it just feel like a side-room off Twitter, which is not a compliment.

Do I really need to remind people that LAST WEEK we sold Nathan Broadhead for £10m..?

It's not real money...any of it.

I think its all pretty natural, if difficult for everyone concerned. He's proven that he's a capable pro and wants to play every week to give himself the best chance of progressing. Right now, we're not going to offer him that so he has to decide to stick or twist.

I think general consensus is that he wants PL. The only question that remains is whether, if there's no PL interest, he'll choose to come here on 31st August or stay with Boro.
