No New Injuries But Burns and Celina Remain Sidelined
at 14:40:05

Coulson available for selection then?
I hope so as he looks like he can provide some much needed grit at either left back or more importantly left midfield..

Harris Tight-Lipped on Town Interest
at 22:52:01

He's a shoe in and will be confirmed by the end of the weekend.
Hard to see he is better than Cook but Cook couldn't get a tune out of his midfield engine room and I can't believe any manager would say they would never shut up shop when we've been ahead in so many games and failed to keep the lead.
Need some strong men in Centre midfield and a left winger that's proven at this level… can see Coulson fitting that role when fit though…
We're only a few players away and can't see a future for powder puff Fraser and Evans personally, they are so weak.

Cook to Make Changes as Blues Host Colchester in Papa John's Trophy
at 00:20:51

Would like to see this team
Hladky
KVY
Woolfie
Burgess
Kenlock or Clements
El Miz
Harper
Jackson
Aluko
Fraser
Pigott

Last chance for Jackson, can see some room to be made for Jan signings with letting Norwood, Kenlock, possibly Nolan and Jackson along with a replacement Loan for Louie Barry..
Another strong driving preferably Champ experienced centre mid, centre back and maybe 2 centre forwards would see us up to the play offs and hopeful Cup runs…
It would be a dream to have two successful Wembley outings this year… and quite lucrative I guess too… anyone have an idea of revenue generation from a Wembley outing?

Cook: It’s a Big Game, There’s Big Bragging Rights That Go With It
at 14:44:50

Think it has to be
Hladky
Donacien
Edmundson
Burgess
Penney but if not fit then Coulson
Morsy
Evans
Burns
Chaplin
Celina
Bonne
I think Hladky and Evans are needing to up their games or I can see change soon.
El Mizouni has probably forced himself into the reckoning over Carroll if he still unfit.
Think the team needs more aggression from midfield when we don't have the ball.
You won't get much from the usual 3 behind Bonne. Can see Coulson being of use as a strong left midfielder when needed.
Would love to be there…. If anyone can get one of those tickets that Cambridge are selling today please let me know!😄

Reid Could Reprise Wigan Role at Town
at 19:01:23

Seems like a decent positive move.
If I'm as a technical director, does that role report into the CEO?
If so, can understand that Paul Cook would want the buy in from this appointment and great that he has an existing relationship with Peter Reid.
I'm a supporter of Paul Cook and want him to succeed, I love the attacking intent and entertainment but feel he may need a plan B and C sometimes…
PC has only had maybe 2-3 seasons of Championship football and it will be very handy to call on Peter Reid's Championship and Premier League experience. We can all improve and it's all part of building this successful long term project.
Also get the feeling that Cook is at a slight loss as to how our heads can dip after going a goal up… we need a bit more fight from the likes of Evans, Morsy, Burns and Fraser In my opinion.

Edwards and Nsiala Back in Squad But Carroll and Pigott Miss Out
at 10:49:08

I think Nolan is a proven League One player and I would like to see him back to full fitness, he's got grit and can find a goal and when the games come thick and fast we could see injuries to Morsy, Evans or Carroll and Nolan would be an experienced head to help the likes of Rekeem Harper and Idris who have great promise but are pretty much rookies at present and haven't played a full season in the gnarly League One!
Hoping to see a decent side in the Papa Johns next week...
But this week, would love to see a fit Edwards get 30 minutes plus...
Got to learn to love Fraser, technically very gifted and most of the great moves come through him and he's experienced at this level with a first class assist and goal scoring record in this Division and I think Cook rates him highly.... he just doesn't seem to like doing the ugly stuff...

Cook: Tonight is Probably the First Time We’ve Looked a Team
at 10:53:56

Great to watch that last night.
Pleasing in many ways…
Bonne keeping up his scoring especially with a great second..
So pleased for Paul Cook after a tricky time personally
Evans hat-trick was superb and he looked great alongside his old team mate.
Morsy was solid and looks like the metronome to make the team tick… I saw him calling out a few players and he will raise standards on and off the pitch.
Team performance levels steadily increasing and momentum building.
Think Fraser looks better in the number 10 role and Celina left for now.
Donacien doing a great job and happy he's getting a good run.
Pleased for Hladky after his start.
Happy that we support the team through thick and thin.

Whilst automatic promotion would be great, two Wembley winning visits this year would be perfectly fine with me!

Lincoln City 0-1 Ipswich Town - Match Report
at 19:16:01

And that's why football triggers so much enjoyment and emotion.
A great day out, a fairly solid win and largely agree with the player ratings on EADT.
Evans possibly an 8 though, a lot more passion and nouse from the team all round.
Pleased for the team and manager, supporters were absolutely first class, so much noise and support which I truly believe helps the players so please let's keep it up..,.
Happy with the team selection, that Hladky kept a clean sheet, Donacien was great, centre backs looking good and Burgess was top drawer. Carroll tidy, Fraser worked the hardest I've seen so far, Burns you know you get a shift from him and he's dangerous… nice to see Celina get some time and he clearly lifted the whole thing… and Bonne, so pleased he's one of our own and would love to see us buy him. Harper was great when he came on in a slightly more No 10 role .. Aluko very cool and steady and also happy that Wolfie part of a clean sheet.
The team had to work and dig in at times and they all raised their game 10%.. they know what's needed now..
So pleased for Cook and nice to see the passion from Mark Ashton coming to join the supporters at the end….
Such a great feeling and looking forward to the Sheffield Wednesday match.
I would urge all to keep up the support, keep the faith and it wouldn't be a bad thing going to Wembley twice and winning…. Would it?

Cook: Until We Can Become a Strong Team, You'll Not See Our True Colours
at 14:19:44

Looking forward to cheering on and supporting the team tomorrow.
Another tough test but we need to up the desire and energy levels and hoping the team can run their legs off for the manager who has had a tough week with the passing of his father.
Hoping for more assertiveness at the back and more passion from the centre midfield along with some more cohesion from the three behind Bonne.
Could really do with a determined all action Skippers performance in centre midfield tomorrow please and get some passion in the team. He'll learn something from Liam Bridcutt who is or at least used to be a very tidy player that I'm hoping Morsy turns out to be.
A Celina late winner will send us all home happy please. Then onto a bigger positive crowd at Sheff Wednesday match.

Burns: Supporters Need to Stick With Us
at 22:11:45

Tempzzzz… I'm sorry to hear you were threatened and abused by someone when you applauded Bonne.
They don't sound like a fellow supporter and just want to control …. I would keep doing what is right and support the team and mention to a steward next time. You shouldn't have to put up with that.
I'm looking forward to watching The Lincoln match this Saturday and then off to see us at home vs Sheff Wednesday… really looking forward to all the matches and happy to be patient… I think it'll be worth it.

Burns: Supporters Need to Stick With Us
at 11:58:49

I agree with him… we need to support the players and manager, I know that sounds tough.
The three League defeats… I don't think we were outplayed by Burton or Cheltenham… a little naive and a bit unlucky but yes heads dropped at home versus a very good Bolton team.
We can turn this around but the team need us fully behind them…. No point booing as we are affecting the players that are playing well ie. Bonne, Burns, Edwards, Coulson etc.
We need to build confidence not decimate it.

Free Cup Ticket Redeemable For West Ham U21s Tie
at 11:02:48

The early rounds are not normally ideal competitive matches but after our poor run it actually gives us a much needed opportunity to play the back five together at least and to get Morsy some game time with Evans… rest Harper and fit Carroll in too as a 3 in centre midfield..
Crucially we need to build confidence and positional awareness and get a win.
May as well give Barry and Aluko another run out on the wings and Pigott up front. We have no problems with Bonne and Burns…
We have seven key players ( most could be if fit) out of League action Norwood, Nsiala, Nolan, Edwards, Fraser, Celina and Morsy… that's a lot of talent.

Ipswich Town 2-5 Bolton Wanderers - Match Report
at 13:49:39

Looking at the back 5 yesterday, there has not been an awful lot of League Game time over last season or two and it possibly tells...
Walton - no League appearances last season but full season in 19/20
KVY - 18 in last 2 seasons
Edmo - 18 in 2 seasons
Burgess - 73 in 2 seasons
Coulson - none last season but 15 in 2019/2020

That's not a lot of game time in the last season from this back 5 and another reason why we need to be patient, we are building a huge project here and the foundations are only slowly being laid... there is so much to do. Keep the faith...

Ipswich Town 2-5 Bolton Wanderers - Match Report
at 12:21:57

Looking at the goals yesterday....
1) Edmundson not tight enough - shows he is not match sharp. Needs time.
2) KVY poor tackle - just didn't need to do it there in the box.... stand up.
3) Donacien sucked into a central position - it really shows that this back 5 haven't played together, needs time.
4)Evans should have noticed Edmundson on the floor and then should have marked Sheehan. Maybe we need a Captain to start barking at some of these players.
5)Centre Backs should have challenged the ball in the box...
All lamentable but clearly shows lack of game time together, lack of leadership and cohesion, lack of concentration.... I dont think much to do with Cooky but quite rightly he should take the wrap and pressure off the players in public which he is doing.
They need time, they need to go over all these mistakes which they will do and they need to eradicate them... it will happen. Lets back our boys and get behind them, we are so much stronger together.... We are Ipswich. We are different.
Play your best team on Tuesday Cooky... this back 5 need playing together, we need 3 in Centre Mid for now to include a seasoned Pro in Carroll - No 10 is too much of a luxury when we need results and confidence to flow.
Good luck...

Ipswich Town 2-5 Bolton Wanderers - Match Report
at 11:55:03

First post in years - watched all League matches this season apart from yesterday due to Covid.
As tough as it sounds to some, I think we need to put an arm round Paul Cook and show our support, he will be hurting more than anyone today, he's been immensely backed in the transfer market for his most ambitious project... I think we can discount his last seasons results and there hasn't been much in most of the previous games apart from yesterday. Getting rid of him now could do more harm than good, he is just a part of the overall plan, a key part I agree, the Composer as it were.
He doesn't become a bad manager in such a short space of time, he is highly thought of by other Chairmen and CEO's and players alike... there is no guarantee another manager can get these players to play any better. He is part of the Plan - Mark Ashton has performed, Chairman is good and steadying, many players are looking the part... we all know it takes time and I believe his brand of football will be great when it does click......SO my 10 point plan is :-
1) Play your best team on Tuesday night, he should never have run down this Cup, it could be his saviour. He needs a bit more media training now, this is high profile stuff than previously I think.
2) Consider 4321 instead of 4231 - Carroll an experienced Pro with Morsy and Evans in the 3 on Tuesday night.
3) No 10 position is a luxury at the moment and not working - Fraser is a bit lightweight but technically very good, Chaplin is not showing that he is a Champ player.
4) Execs to get in on Sunday to discuss if Paul Cook needs an experienced, recognised coach to challenge some of his tactics in a healthy way.
5) We have too many rookies against teams with hardened Pro's - rest Rekeem on Tuesday as he will have to play on Saturday. Lets build up some of the more junior players a bit more when confidence stronger in the team but not much we can do with the defence, they need games together now.
6) Get a senior Pro to speak to the Press to face up that the players aren't doing it - done today with Aluko. Good.
7) We are clearly looking like we lack leadership and accountability on the pitch and I think Cook needs judging 5-10 games after Morsy in.
8) Morsy has a huge amount of responsibility now to lift the players but seems to have the qualities to succeed. We need Leadership from a player that will hold others to account and lift them with a central and strong display.
9) Please don't boo - we are a Club / a family, We are Ipswich, We are different. You wouldn't boo a Sunday football team or kids team or your Mum or Dad for no Yorkshire Puddings today! We are supporters, we support our team by getting behind them and create an atmosphere that the players know we have their back after a goal down. I know that would make me run more.
10) Is KVY not fit enough? Taped up hamstrings and knows he has more to give - would probably be more solid with Donacien for now.
Hope that helps and I have never looked forward this much to a Papa Johns Trophy match... you have to win this one Cooky.
