McKenna: Barnsley Will Go at Us With Everything
at 08:13:43

Getting ready to head up to Barnsley and absolutely buzzing. As always there will be nerves and tension st kick off. This team though have faced most challenges head on and are in form. Whatever we feel could be difficult must be 10 x worse for the opposition. Most goals scored, least conceded, least defeats and form team unbeaten in 15. How do you prepare for that???
I'm believing in promotion at Portman Road on Saturday. COYB

I genuinely feel positive
Whilst frustrated at Cheltenham our slip up was still a point. The others are having wobbles
I have us up as champions on 96 points with Plymouth on 94 points

I see us winning all home games and Fleetwood but drawing v Barnsley and Peterborough.

I think Exeter and Shrewsbury away for Plymouth will see points dropped

Wednesday won't fancy Bristol Rovers and Burton

Quietly confident

I've dragged my daughters from London to Portman Road for 12 seasons - finally they actually want to go, drive me and love it. COYB

Luongo Signing Confirmed
at 00:00:44

All those of you slating this signing and being underwhelmed let's please have some perspective.
Facts are he was a great player for QPR in the championship for 4 years. He was a standout player for Sheffield Weds last season. He has had a bad experience and no game time at Boro, same as Morsey, remember Jim Magilton didn't play for Sheffield Weds before he came to us, remember Daryl Murphy before he signed, DJ Campbell? Some clubs don't work out He has trained with the team for two weeks and been offered a contract, perhaps trust the management team. Unlikely to be a regular starter but brings experience, pedigree and positive options, no fee, no risk but plenty of upside. People be real and stop searching for negatives.

Blues Make Corbeanu Enquiry
at 19:31:46

I know nothing about him, but assuming he has scored his three goals in 10 starts which appears the case, his sub appearances have been scratchy and late form what I have checked. one goal every 3.33 games for a winger in a league above is decent - certainly better than our wingers although much rotation.
I think we need to remain positive in KmK judgement, general recruitment has been good and he knows what he wants to fit into his style. Lets trust and reserve judgement but lets also not turn on each other for different views.

Schumacher Not Ruling Out Whittaker Return
at 17:17:45

I think patience is needed, however frustrating. I have no doubt from what I know that deals have been discussed with a number of options but think the number one targets are MW and Jack Taylor. The problem being Peterboough have changed managers and that will add delays. With Swansea recalling MW i think it shows there is a chance but the players reaction may alter plans. When Tyreece Simpson was recalled the plan was to play him or loan out, but his reaction and attitude changed all that. I think you will see us wait to see if primary targets become available and if not then move on. I also think we have a few days, as all main targets mentioned are cup tied anyway. I'd rather we took our time and got the best than rushed for lower targets and quality. That said, we must add and not miss out. So far though the new regime have earned the right for us to trust them, unlike the last 15 years.

Forest Green Rovers 1-2 Ipswich Town - Match Report
at 18:39:42

I'd like to throw a few facts at some of the negative posters stating we won't get promoted and we must get a striker etc etc.
Firstly I would like us to sign a proven goal scorer or someone like Hirst but there are not many around and available and we will be competing with Championship clubs so let's be realistic and look at actually where we are.
Last season in 8 games we picked up four points against promoted teams - this season 3 points after 1 game and arguably against the best team to have come up this or last year. Bolton did the double over us last year, so again an improvement.
37 shots over two games, managed difficult periods, players still finding their feet in the team. All signs look good to me, keep improving and hopefully add a striker and we have the cherry on top. Opponents will disrupt us, some will beat us but I have no doubt we'd of lost or drawn last year. Get the atmosphere pumping. Be positive dans and enjoy your night - 3 points

Burgess Starts as Woolfenden and Harper Miss Out Through Illness

Churchman's 81 - you beat me to it. Very well said. Let those that know the job and see the players every day do their job. We can all have opinions but surely we should wait till we are a few games in before slaughtering team selection before the game has started. Then you don't look stupid when your team are 2-0 up with 10 shots. Brilliant football, great goals, trust the process.

Town Announce Shirt Numbers

I have no inside knowledge whatsoever..... but I reckon Penny and or Harper go out on loan plus Idris and we create two more spaces - Hirst and Celina. Both would be the cherry on top of the icing on what is already a great cake. Better squad than last year and a team that's worked together over 7 months getting used to KM style. Must be one of if not the best squad in the league. As supporters we must stay strong in moments of wobble but definitely believe this is our season to get back up. Excited

Ipswich Town 0-1 Newport County - Match Report
at 23:05:39

Disappointing result tonight and poor stars since PC has arrived. I'm also sad to have seen some players depart especially Doz, Bishop and Downes. BUT .......
The club needed a huge reset on and off the pitch. The last two games have shown more attacking intent and entertainment than I can recall for years, including MM playoff season. Performances improving, players that are joining definitely have better pedigree and early signs look promising.
Personally PC talks well, has a recent track record of promotions and has definitely got a clear style of play on the front foot, is prepared to go to a plan B - all of what I see on the pitch whilst being disappointed by results, makes me believe PC and the team deserve our support over the next 2 months to see partnerships form, systems bed in and the players gel. By October if there is issues remaining and poor results that is the time for us to question what is happening.
Last years and the previous four years have seen players take us down under different managers - the same would have continued.

Ipswich Town 2-2 Morecambe - Match Report
at 21:53:55

Eddie - I absolutely expect us to push for promotion this season and will be very disappointed if we don't go up. I have concerns about the complete clear out. However the last few years of players have not performed and taken us to our lowest level. The team needed to start over again however much it hurts to see homegrown academy products leave.
I expect us to beat the majority of teams, however any new team in any sport takes time to work cohesively - it is in my opinion right to give a few games for the players to gel and the management to get their message across. Especially with new players joining all the time.
I think it is unreasonable to be disappointed at this point. There was vast improvement today on what we have seen for years.

Ashton: We Will Only Sign Players and Staff Who are Absolutely Committed
at 01:32:51

62wasbest
It is well known that many players that have travelled and commuted to their work in many clubs have not formed the same bonds within the team structure and wider community projects as those that have been local. I fully accept that there are always exceptions to be considered such as family ties, schooling etc. These must be considered.
I doubt we are from a massively different working era but can also have perspectives that differ. I have lived with a professional footballer that played for Wycombe and Oxford. He had team mates that were not local and were more separated from the team in terms of social functions, team mates that after night games and 01;00 in the morning returns, then had two hours of driving home and often missed or were late for the next mornings training. These practical issues are detrimental to team.
I may have missed it but I have not seen 20 miles mentioned but have seen move to the area. I have also read it is a discussion prior to contracts being signed therefore allowing those involved to make informed decisions. One would assume, if they didn't agree or like it they wouldn't join.
Unless you have seen a contract I am unsure how you can speak with such authority about clauses. As for your comments about fans - I live 124miles from Portman Road it is nearly 2.5 hours each way. I have had a season ticket for 32 years, but it would not be healthy or wise to do that journey every day. It can be tiring if we have two home games in a week, especially an evening one.
Also not sure what your point is about Bristol City, people move jobs the commitment they bring to the job they do is what matters for the time they do it. If a premier league top six approach Mark Ashton and his team, it will be because he's done a good job and he will no doubt leave that's is realistic. We've offered him a job that has appealed and a project that he clearly buys into. Would you prefer the last regime?
Sheepshanks left for the FA, Sir Bobby left for England, to better themselves and as a result of what they did for us. Legends like Warl left for Liverpool, Murhen for Man U etc, etc
I'd love our team to produce staff that others want as it will mean progress.
Anyone that signs in any job role will see the terms and if they are happy with them why does it bother you so much?

Ashton: We Will Only Sign Players and Staff Who are Absolutely Committed
at 21:45:23

62WasBest - Thanks for contributing, what is your actual point and how much do you take on board from previous posts, comments and interviews?
Mark Ashton has stated on numerous occasions that he has moved into the area and is leading from the front, he has stated that he lives equally between training ground at Playford Road and Portman Road.

He has also stated that he expects all staff to live locally if moving in to the area as he wants to build on the community team element. Surely this is to be applauded and and as an employer at the start of a contract you can make your wishes clear and insert clauses accordingly. If the new staff do not like that as he clearly states no matter how good they are, don't join, he doesn't want them.
I accept existing staff cannot and should not be forced or pressured to move, you inherit what you inherit.
Fundamnetaly he is building a culture and stating clear requirements a prerequisite for successful team building. He clearly accepts some may not like that, fine, make your choice and don't join.
Personally I believe in strong culture and guides on expectation from the outset and expressing these shows integrity, transparency and develops culture - what in any of that is bad or wrong?

Ashton: There Feels a Distance Between the Fans and the Club
at 09:09:59

HEADLINES MATTER
How ironic the critics having a pop at Phil as it demonstrates the point about fans support and uniting so clearly.
Nearly all agree this website and forum is fantastic other than at times personal attacks/spats/trolls and keyboard warriors.
Phil's headline in my humble opinion is not what I would have chosen from the event. I also don't like it. Sorry Phil. However I accept Phil's explanation and reasoning and 90% of the time think he gets it spot on, hence my support and defence. Just like our team and support, SOME fans turn, boo and slaughter players when they need support and encouragement. I too run a company and guess what I make mistakes, don't get it right in everybody's eyes, staff and customers views will vary, I do though work hard, care for those that rely on me and always look to improve.
The article offers detail and explanation - let's praise the good work on here, e-mail constructive comments privately perhaps. Let's unite this club, those that represent it or help it, yes offer feedback but appropriately. Especially on match days, we will perhaps need to be patient but together we will achieve.

Town Make Move For Boro Full-Back Coulson

I've seen him play and he is quality. EADT reports it being a loan move which worries me. If permanent great, if loan I'd be interested to see what the view is. My preference is we build a team of our own with one or two loan additions.

Colchester Targeting Judge

Chepstow Blue - relax and enjoy.
Other than Nydham would you have kept any of the released players?
Of this offered the extension option it makes commercial sense. I reckon Jackson and Donacien will be sold and we can generate income. Drinan is odd but probably nothing to lose squad player.
The key will be signings but I'm optimistic that things are taking shape and much dead wood or average players have been moved on

Options Taken on Bishop, Nsiala, Drinan and El Mizouni
at 19:17:51

Whilst on the outside looking is many can question some of these decisions, I do think it makes sense.
I believe Jackson/Donacien and potentially also Drinan will be extended to enable a sell on clause. I don't pretend to have insider information but do know the workings of contracts in this area.
Bishop and others all make sense to me, I am disappointed in Wilso going and especially Nudham, I will though reserve judgement until we see who we sign. I think we have seen 7 or 8 players released plus 6 loans depart and another 3 or 4 set up to be able to be sold. I'd say that is quite a clear out.
I think Nsiala is good enough, Drinan gives a squad option and reminds me off Moore, even Murphy - could turn in to something, get loaned out or a small fee - not really a gamble.
To all those with negatives, let's now show some class, thank those that represented us, support the new regime and give them a chance. I'd suggest as others come in, more will go, we need to keep a team.
Just my view

meekreech - interested in understanding the down vote, do you not agree that it is positive news? do you not believe what I have written?
dirtydingusmagee - I am not saying that the Cowleys are or are not the answer, to be fair most fans at the time were happy with some of the past appointments, nothing appears to be going right once we get people in, which perhaps says more about the depth of the problem.
To the doubters, please read all of my posts, I don't put anything up that I cannot verify, O don't get involved in a war of words. The guy I know interviewed the Cowleys for a League 1 job, they had advanced talks and were told they the Cowleys wanted to see what transpired at Ipswich. This is not hear say or a friend of a friend etc, this is my best mate who interviewed them for the club he works at.

POSITIVE NEWS
I have heard on good authority that the Cowleys have rejected a job back in to management as they have spoken to Ipswich and want to see what transpires at Portman Road. This is from someone in the club that they have rejected.
Maybe this will play out soon and whilst we have a chance of the playoffs. Fingers crossed. I'd rather Howe but don't think he will drop down, possibly Pearson as I think he won't do bull sh1t. However I'd take the Cowley brothers. What do others think. This makes more sense to me than a takeover though I'd love that too.
