There's a little storm brewing in Chingford and Walthamstow
at 20:35 2 Jun 2024

treatment of faiza by the party has been absolutely abhorrent. its so clear from what material was cited against her that its a factional cull ( https://www.middleeasteye.net/news/faiza-shaheen-dropped-labour-liking-pro-bds-c

i mean for god sake one of tweets cited was with regards to her experience of islamophobia within the party. and to boot the new candidate parachuted in from the NEC and is a starmer aligned councillor from barnet with 0 local connections. she's a brilliant woman and harpin's comment is just another in his long line of islamophobic remarks (remember the 'shaking off the fleas' rubbish he trotted out)

call a spade a spade.

not just NEC bodies either but coming straight from the leaders office; Josh Simons of Labour First (blue labour think tank) getting parachuted in to a seat plus the Camden Council leader (starmer's patch) get given the maida vale selection.

im sure i recall someone in the labour party making a very good point on this undemocratic and wrong process not so long ago.....

cancelled my membership earlier this year over the party stance on Palestine but was willing to hold my nose and vote at the G.E. not now, utter utter contempt for anything even hinting at being left of centre. atrocious treatment of abbot, russel-moyle, and shaheen and to stick the boot in war crime denier islamophobe Luke Akehurst gets handed a plum seat in Durham. morally vacuous factional gangsters. first time in my life i shan't be voting for them, i even spent 4 years volunteering at my local party on my days off until covid put a stop to it. what a waste.

yeah, i mean, i've probably gone senile and given myself brain worms refreshing TWTD and twitter so much these past couple days i'm not going to shy away from that. is this is a blub? probably. is it over the top? likely. And yet still, as self aware as I am, I still inevitably find myself drifting back to the thought process along the lines of "he clearly wants out or else his agent wouldn't be doing this much work & leaking it", so why bother fighting it baby, thank you very much see you later.

McKenna......out?
at 20:35 23 May 2024

The board has been a hive of activity over the past week or so, McKenna linked to just about every job under the sun (bar PM). Sure, at first it felt like it was agent talk perhaps angling for a new deal or just simply keeping the clients' name in the headlines. But, on and on and on it goes, BBC story about him & Pert wanting to move on, 'McKenna is waiting for Chelsea', his representatives 'speaking to Man U, a hyperactivity of journo's across the country all rushing to get an 'exclusive' on the story.

At what point though do we stop blaming the big bad agent as being the sole purveyor of these stories, as if McKenna has no autonomy over his actions and is merely a pawn or makeweight in the chess game of agent posturing & lauding.

I know it's unreasonable to expect a statement from the club/McKenna decrying all speculation and noise as just that, and to reaffirm a commitment to ITFC. But, is the genie out the bottle? I am beginning to think that he is actively agitating for a move, and to be honest, if being adored at a club by a whole county no less with supremely supportive backers is not enough, then I hope goes. ITFC cannot just be a backup. Its been the most amazing 2 years of following this club, having held a season ticket since the ashes of our last prem campaign, but honestly, I think this past week is leaving a (small) bitter aftertaste.

(P.s preemptively accepting accusations of blubbing or bedwetting COYFB)

concerning sentences in here:

"in line to move to the Amex Stadium if all the pieces fall in place.""

"there is confidence that Brighton can agree a deal"

& suggests Rob Edwards is our target

I'd happily take Emma Hayes as our next manager.
at 12:01 20 May 2024

not for me no.

i think her public spat most recently with the arsenal manager showed poor temperament and not the demeanour i'd generally want leading our club (also a stark contrast to that of KM). in any case i'm sure she's stepping into the US national team now so its a double non-starter.

the overall Q of women's football managers stepping into the men's game is quite an interesting one. personally i think some of the comments about the standard being so low & compared to kids/youth football and the like is a bit disrespectful/patronising. the WSL is a professional league and the infrastructure behind the top sides in the league is top draw - i saw that arsenal women are playing the majority of their home games at the emirates next season for e.g. I think sooner or later we will see some movement across the gender divide likely at the elite level, fundamentally as a poster put it earlier the leadership qualities and tactical coaching are the same regardless of mens/womens game, its just the basic skill level of the players your working with - juxtapose that with when we see a coach step up from youth football to succeed at the senior level (e.g KM from youth to Man U assistant then us or most recently Des Buckingham at Oxford who was a youth coach before a stint in India which would hardly be the highest standard) theres very rarely the same level of questions/negativity levelled there.

Another wonderful story from everyones favourite journo

Still scarcely believable reading the line "they will spend the summer preparing for a first Premier League season in 22 years"

Marvin Johnson - bid in for him now.

respectfully i think this is a daft comment somewhat. given that im just a fan who goes to the games i have no access to the statistical or recruitment analysis available to those involved in transfers & player identification at itfc

I was only pointing out the juxtaposition between what was said versus what the reality appears to be. Wasn't intending to be overly negative (apols if it read that way) and of course i trust in KMac & the team behind him, but i think it is a valid point to note? if you chief exec continues to hammer the drum of relentless transfer activity & bigs up the firepower, it surely begs the question 'how does that translate into signing a 33 year old who was just recently banished & has a track record of c. 3 seasons at championship level in his career & the rest is lower/non-league & scottish football?

reading this MA interview from November where he preliminarily discusses the Jan window - https://www.eadt.co.uk/sport/23922181.ipswich-town-mark-ashton-january-transfer-

couple quotes to note: "We’ll be brave and we’ll be bold, but we won’t be reckless." and "....we’ll now have more firepower to go again in January" and "We recruit the best players we possibly can in every single window"

is a 33 year old left back/left winger who's been in league 1 for the previous 3+ years really brave/bold, the best player we can get in, and a display of more firepower?

a million quid (so says the rumour mill), another position in the squad registration taken up

underwhelmed and disappointed
