Excellent and well written blog Tim. I share many of the sentiments and was lucky enough to watch the 1978 cup final, not at the match itself, but as a young boy on the TV. Roger Osbourne's winning goal is as clear to me now as it was back then, a memory that will stay with me forever.
Obviously, we all want our beloved Town to be in the 'Promised Land' but a good cup run lifts spirits. It is disappointing that we have appeared to disregard this fact for the past few years |

Poor showing tonight. Although there was no doubt that they should have won, the scoreline flatters Reading. Like many others, I agree that the goalkeeping situation needs resolving. Gerken does not command his area at all. I would even go as far as saying that he is reluctantly gay as he clearly does not want to come out!

Ok guys - I have been an Ipswich follower/supporter for many years. I attended the match tonight and was extremely disappointed. Do some of the older supporters remember;
1. Tery Butcher with a blood soaked bandage around his head?
2. Paul Cooper saving 7 out of 10 penalties in one season?
3. Thinking Arnold (who) and Franz (who).... what is Bobby doing.... they are from some Dutch unknown side... what is he doing?
4. Why is Bobby playing Roger Osbourne in the FA Cup final?
5. Naylor's goal against Barnsley
6. Johnny Wark..... nothing more needs to be said apart from ' why didnt we give him a job'
7. Linked to above.... does anyone know why he didnt play for Liverpool when WE went down?
8. How Russel Osman didnt get more England caps
9. Why no-one told David Johnson (the latter) that his hair style was awful
10. Why Kevin Beattie was not the country's best EVER player (damn knees)
11. That if Mick Mills had shaved off his moustache, he would have probably been the most capped England captain
12. And if Gascoigne (not the fact that Sir Bobby turned him down), had been a bit fitter, then what would we have had.....????
