 | News Comment | Garbutt: This is a Massive Game For Us at 17:55:19
To be fair, Fleetwood were flying (3rd place, I think) when we beat them in October. One thing to say we haven't beaten sides that are 'in the promotion mix' at the present time, but this has fluctuated all season, particularly given how tight the table is around the playoff places. |
 | News Comment | Lambert: There Was No Respect for the Place at 13:41:07
"I thought this is wrong, what's happening here, so I had a chat with Marcus and said, ‘Listen, you have to grab the club'." Sorry but if that's what Marcus is saying, I'd love to see what was in the job description on the contract Paul Lambert signed. I highly doubt booking bloody decorators was in it. No, this isn't the biggest priority at the club, but if it matters to a new manager, why the hell doesn't it matter to the owner? |
 | News Comment | All Seven Out-of-Contract Senior Players Released at 11:53:02
Best of luck to Gerks. Could've moved on some time ago given how much Bart had dominated the No 1 position, but he was always ready when called upon and got more action this season than he'd seen for quite some time. Good luck to Ward too - that debut against Barnsley will live with me for a long time. A shame the Adeyemi move ended up such a flop but we have to move on from this perpetual list of players that aren't fit enough to feature. I know Jonas has had his criticism - some of which has been warranted - but I think he was put in the line of fire by the brilliance of his positional predecessors. The goals against Norwich were much appreciated, as was the passion he often showed in celebrating (seem to remember he ended up in the crowd after our last minute equaliser at Barnsley a couple of years back?) Not much to say on Dawkins as we saw nothing of him. Spence has been very up and down but did provide some memorable moments (Millwall away sticks in mind, and I enjoyed his late equaliser at Hull back in the autumn a couple of years ago). |
 | News Comment | Club Pay Tribute to Departing Kit Man Goody at 15:55:43
@HighgateBlue - there's only one appropriate retirement destination for a kit man who used to coach inexperienced youngsters... St Kits and Novice. *AWFUL WORDPLAY KLAXON* |

I'd planned two away trips between now and the end of the season: This one and Bolton. ... This is all becoming way more complicated than I ever thought it would be...! |
 | News Comment | Judge Signs New Town Deal at 13:22:38
Massive boost for next season, a real key player. Now on that note - with our recent record - just please, PLEASE don't get injured!! |
 | News Comment | Town: Game On, as Things Stand at 06:57:57
"A further update & confirmation is expected tomorrow". Yes. Well payment of Bolton's staff was 'expected' last Friday, so you'll forgive me if I'm not particularly confident at this moment in time...! |
 | News Comment | Bolton Game to Go Ahead If Staff Numbers Adequate at 19:47:47
Agree with the above. We already knew there was a question over staffing which prompted the potential postponement - sadly this does nothing to actually answer that question. Please, Bolton, if you can't do it then make that decision early. Do not leave this until we're all heading up there. |
 | News Comment | Bart: Ipswich Will Be My Home When I Retire at 20:03:15
Much as I love Bart and would hope that this story is indicative of a desire to remain at Town for the rest of his career, I do wonder to what extent our prospects of ever bouncing back may end up reliant upon cashing in on him. If we find ourselves in a position of needing to either sell Bart or sell a string of our youngsters instead, at what point do we just have to admit the latter is simply more vital to the club's future? |
 | News Comment | Hurst Not Afraid to Return to 3-5-2 Despite Brentford First Half at 20:37:13
Saw a few comments after Tuesday's lineup was announced along the lines of 'right setup, wrong personnel'. The 3-5-2 isn't necessarily a problem but that particular combination of players and formation was a disaster, especially against that opponent. If, as Hurst says, he's "got the players that can do that", they really weren't the ones he picked on Tuesday - or if they were, it seems they'd take a damn long time to get it right against an opponent of any quality. |
 | News Comment | Ipswich Town 1-1 Brentford - Match Report at 22:14:10
Looked to me like the second half was Plan A. I'll give Hurst plenty of time to get the results if he sticks to what he's good at and not whatever that muddle of a first half was. |
 | News Comment | Walters: No-Brainer to Return to Club Which Was Turning Point in Career at 19:07:33
No-brainer to take up this opportunity to bring him in. Say what you will of his past time here - and I think he was a great asset back then - he's since played in an FA Cup Final, a Europa League campaign and a string of Premier League seasons. We literally cannot buy experience like that these days. Welcome back, JW! |
 | News Comment | Walters: Take Me Home Country Roads! at 12:01:19
Remember, Jonny, keep to the two right-hand lanes. Not the left. That's the A11. Don't make that mistake or you could end up nowhere. |
 | News Comment | Hurst: Too Early to Worry About Lack of Goals at 20:34:19
Hurst clearly has a conviction over the system he wants to play, and he's prepared to persist with it at this time to try and produce results. We can all sit here and say "it's not working", but none of us can say with certainty whether the players will - given time - adapt successfully to it. If they do, we could flourish. They might not. Hopefully, if they still haven't after a while, he'll reconsider. But four games in, it's absurd for us as fans to think we can instantly make better tactical judgements about the prospective merits of Hurst's system than the man himself can. |

Here I Go Again. Knock, Knock, Knocking on Evans' Door... "I'll tell you want I want, what I really really want." "So tell me what you want, what you really really want?" "I really really really really want Oshilaja." A Loan Again. (Naturally.) |
