Bid Lodged For Al-Hamadi, New Offer For Gallagher Turned Down
at 12:57:24

Aspiring to the Premier Division I would have thought requires a bit more than another one to two million pound striker. OK you can always pick up a bargain or a younger "project". If ITFC clearly want Al-Hamadi you probably will not get him for less than 2 million given sell on clauses. Bid high straight away to stop others like Leeds as another striker is hardly a luxury at present. Under McKenna ITFC have been brilliant but could he remain in the Premier with just this squad - maybe for a season but longer term?

Rooney: Fulham Have Window in Which to Recall Stansfield
at 13:11:27

How much would Stansfield cost? Seen estimates ranging from 1.5 to 5 million. Hirst cost 1.5 in League 1, so would assume Stansfield would be more than that now. How high would the owners be prepared to go? Also seen talk of a loan deal and an option to transfer if ITFC are promoted. That could easily doubled any eventual fee. Top end Championship / low end Premier League transfers are often 10 - 15 million plus. But as Norwich proved if you do not pay you come straight down.

No Moves In or Out Before Deadline But Tuanzebe Set For Trial
at 00:54:31

The question for me is how much are Game Changer prepared to invest? did they underestimate Championsionship fees. EADT pushed the line Ipswich now a financial powerhouse. As they are in it to make a profit (they are a pension fund after all) and if so is reality dawning for them.

Ipswich Town 0-1 Colchester United - Match Report
at 00:51:15

It is more same old Ipswich fans rather than same old Ipswich. Probably forgot or unaware many "fans" wanted Robson sacked early on. Cobbold apologised about the fans behaviour them. I suspect McKenna will be great. Its only the entitled who think success is owed to them - it ain't.

Ipswich Town 3-1 Southend United - Match Report
at 01:19:24

Pre-season and a B team but I thought it would be at least 5 nil against a mid-table National League side who are still sorting themselves out. Suspect their coach would be the better pleased. But pre-season and players wanting to avoid injury.

Town Reveal New Kits
at 14:59:10

Cannot understand the excitement myself - lots do and seem happy to be exploited by a marketing ploy. Feel sorry for all those parents / kids in a time of economic tough times who feel obliged/pressured into forking out for an expensive new strip every year. I would be just as happy if they turned out in plain blue teeshirts from Primark. If you want to change/exploit a new design every year - at least give a strip away with every season ticket sold.

McKenna: I've Handed Over January Recommendations But My Focus is on the Players Already Here
at 12:18:08

So how much does this "transfer backing" depend on moving on expensive players (for League 1) who have not worked out as hoped - I would include Hladky, Burgess, Fraser, Carroll and possibly Harper. Many cost a fee and would be reluctant to take a pay cut. Plus we have unused players from previous regimes - Holy, Kenlock and Nolan. I understand there are limits on squad sizes. Ashton and Cook over recruited good players who did not seem to fit in - I hope Ashton does not repeat the error.

Ex-Aberdeen and Bristol City Boss Applies For Town Job
at 20:57:43

Increasingly think it odd that Cook was sacked without a ready made replacement. Looks like the pool of new managers is those who are currently available. In these circumstances, would it have been better not to imply a replacement will be in place prior to Sunderland but rather imply McGreal might be in charge for weeks if not months. Looks like poor management. Wake-up call for the Americans - it ain't that simple.

Cook: We're a Soft Touch That Gives Goals Away
at 00:06:18

Hindsight - a good manager/coach should be able to improve a group of professionals. Cook clearly did not do this after he took over last season with several games to go. The Cowley's did at Portsmouth at least getting them into the playoffs. Cook preferred the headlines of "demolition man". Now he has his "own" team whom he claims to know all about but it is still not happening. It is ideally too early to change him given we have got his squad. He is such an "ego' people assume he will not have a coach imposed on him. But that is what Ashton needs to do - either a young, smart tactician who would not get their own managerial job yet - or an experienced "Director of Football" who has been there and done that as a manager. If he will not accept this he needs to be shown the door as soon as practicable.

Cook to Field Strong Side Against West Ham U21s
at 14:18:53

As the Blue Monday Team pointed out - all eggs in the Morsy basket. So good job he signed. Strikes me that other teams have tactically worked Cook's Ipswich out - despite Town having better individual players. What is really worrying is that it is the weaker teams like Cheltenham, Morecambe and Wimbledon who can do this.

Cook: One of the Toughest Days I've Had in Management
at 03:18:44

Anyone who 1. thinks its smart to come out before the team and show off and 2. spouts meaningless, evasive excuses after the match - is not a good leader. Tactically he has one plan - 4,2,3,1 which he religiously sticks to but other teams have rumbled in terms of countering. Not sure of where ITFC go from here. Worth listening to the Bolton managers post match interview - not satisfied, humble and smart. Hopefully it changes but is Cook better than Lambert, Hurst etc.?

Morsy Move Will Depend on Boro Adding Replacement
at 02:46:32

Is well known to Cook a recommendation? early days but Evans and Fraser have been put in the "under performing" category by other commentators - same might be said for all the coaching staff he has brought in from previous clubs. Perhaps he missed out on the one he really needed - Richardson. Early days but wonder if we will see the CEO Ashton fist pump walk around the ground again soon?

Town Linked With Late Morsy Dash
at 13:53:46

How much did Hladky cost? - bet it was between half and one million. One wonders about the quality of recruitment. In a crisis, as others have pointed out, Cook seems to go back to his ex players. Evans has not so far been as effective as the hype. Without Richardson perhaps Cook's greatest need is in the coaching/tactics department. Remember when he told us he liked to work with small squads - this ones seems even bigger than the Mick/Lambert eras. Not comparing well at present with the Cowley's or the Warne's who have smaller budgets.

Cowley on Jacobs and Morrell

Maybe today's standards and perfectly legal - but I remember when Ipswich had a reputation under the Cobbold's for polite conduct. Maybe those times have passed but they helped build a culture and a reputation that went way beyond the club.
