Former Blues Defender Smith Leaves Sunderland
Listen to everyone shouting "sign him up". And pay him with what? - we were on a budget before Covid, and now we've lost one of our biggest revenue streams for who knows how long - have you lot not been reading the news?
League One Salary Cap Proposed
This is like saying to Tesco i don't care how successful your business is, you can only have the same size stores as Mr Smith's corner shop!
My Best Town XI: Matt Holland
Kieron’s comment “ First off, I cannot believe Mauricio Taricco at right-back. I thought that George Burley would be right-back, Matt Holland’s dad.” love it!
Can’t argue with this team selection, not sure we really appreciated what we had at that time.
Taylor: A Fantastic Exercise
This competition is rightly not a priority, but can be useful on a few fronts. Game time & exposure for our younger players (these are potential first players of the future after all).
Cheap tickets for fans to attend a game, if this only gets a handful of fans to fall (back) in love with the club that would be encouraging.
And most importantly of all, winning football matches throughout the structure of the club, is a great habit to get into.
This is all a welcome and stark contrast from the days of he who shall not be named.
Evans on Relegation, New Arrivals and the Promotion Challenge
Anyone questioning that ME doesn’t pocket any of the club’s income should get a copy of the accounts (they are public record). He clearly invests every year, but some people only see the transfer activity as a yardstick. Wake up people, his approach is 100% correct, if you still want the club in existence in 5 years time. If you can’t accept the facts, go support Man City or Chelsea.
No Cash Turnstiles at Home Games
Given me strength! You can still impulse buy on the day, just not at the turnstile! where's the hardship in that? i come on this site for a break from people whinging in my ear at work, and frankly I get worse on here!
PFA Medical Review Critical of Town Academy
Ok, careful here people. There are 2 sides to this story and so far people have only come down on the side of the player. I do not trust the PFA at all and Gordon Taylor has a history to answer to in my opinion. The fact that they have chosen to play this out in the media speaks volumes. This could (andI’m not saying Is) be a case of a disgruntled player/family being upset that the career did not go as planned.
Having said that, IF there is any truth in any of this, the club has a lot to answer for too. They have a duty of care for development of talent as well as the physical and mental welfare of all staff (not just players).
O'Neill Unbelievably Happy With Season Ticket Sales as Blues Face Financial Reality of Relegation
Sound and honest commercial appraisal that. What it highlights for me is:
1. Wether you're a fan of ME or not, he has stumped up when he has HAD to ie to keep us operational and probably could have invested more when it mattered more from a playing point of view. Either way, I am glad he's on board and has clearly taken some advice in the importance of engaging with the fans. Yes, we'd all love the Abu dhabi group investing millions, but equally i don't think anyone would welcome a board like Bolton's.
2. MM has shown what a bitter unprofessional man he is. He has absolutely no business commenting on EX employees personal pay. What is interesting is how we can now sell more season tickets without him a division lower.
McCarthy: I Hope Fans That Hounded Me Out Enjoy the Sexy Football in League One
That comment sums up the problem the fans had with him in the first place. It still baffles me why he ever thought it was beneficial to be so antagonistic towards us. I don’t miss the toxicity or the countless number of loan signings. I do embrace the new era of community, togetherness and giving youth a chance.
Norwich Winger Linked With Blues, Wigan and Bolton
No thanks: any one suggesting a deal with that lot clearly is too young or too old to remember the Ian Crooke incident, or Andy Marshall for that matter. Once a scummer always a scummer!
Town Hoping to Complete Roberts Signing as Webster Move Set to Be Confirmed
This looks pretty good to me, got a good goal/game ratio for a winger. Add that to a hatful of assists i'd be pleased.
Not sure about the Webster situation, never really seen enough of him, but £3.5m - £8m (yeah sure!) for someone unestabished and a history of injury problems probably feels like the right move - as long as we can reinvest the profits!
St Mirren: No Contact From Sunderland Regarding Ross
Am i missing something here? the quotes in the article from the Sunderland Chairman dont actually name anyone. Is he even talking about Ross or is this just journos using the 2+2=5 equation?
Burley Applies for Town Job
I get the nostalgic appeal. But those who say "ipswich in the blood" and "proper Ipswich man" are getting carried away. I'm a proper Ipswich man and have Ipswich in my blood , but those are not credentials that make you a good managerial prospect are they?
Heart says yes, but head says no is the perfect summation.
Now is the time for young blood - I'll take passion, ambition and desire over experience any day of the week and twice on a Sunday! We've nothing to lose!
Milne: Considered Search for New Boss to Run Past End of Season
Vic - the cpmparison i make between the keane appointment and Gerrard potential appointment is about the appointment process itself, not about them as indviiduals - high profile, heaadline grabbing, raising expectations type of apppointments. When we appointed Keane we started singing about us "at Man U while the scum were at Crewe" before a ball was even kicked under his "leadership". Whilst i don't disagree with anything you have said in your analysis of their characters, you have misses my point completely, or I, quite likely have not made my point clear enough.
Milne: Considered Search for New Boss to Run Past End of Season
Based on the betting:
Danny Cowley - Hoof ball - No thanks
Steve Gerrard - interesting, nothing to lose by appointing him - it would remove the monotomy factor (but can't ignore the similarity in circumstance to Roy Keane)
Paul Cook - Safe option, but not a bad one
Mogga - Yes please. First choice
Jack Ross - Winning the Scottish Championship is akin to beating your mates at championship manager - no thanks
Maurice Steijn - Don't know enough about him
Arsene Wenger - i heard he's out of work ( he might be dead though by the sound of some of the tributes i've heard)
All makes for an interesting few weeks, and interesting is not something we've had around PR for a few months/years.
Hull Match Off
I love the fact that so many have turned on Cornish Mick's post and assumed he was serious. The stupidity of some people on here baffles me!
