So what can we actually expect from Coventry then?
at 06:43 29 Apr 2024

1-3 town. Time to step up and take the chance. No regrets.

91/92 season
at 06:37 29 Apr 2024

The analogy holds generally though. There was a bit of a stutter in that run in before we finally put things to bed. In that season we of course won the title though and we very likely turned our back on that in the last 4 games.

Massive week ahead. Let’s do this Ipswich.

We live safe in the world where KMcK is very unlikely to be making excuses about travel ahead of the biggest of weeks. Once the dust settles the travel may have had some impact but this is what footballers do, they have the opportunity to minimise impact with alternative travel and the approach they plan to take for training locations.

Rosenior's just labelled Saturday their 'cup final' *gulp*

this is what you have to put up with as a big club. You are always a cup final for someone. Positive focus for Saturday everyone.

Anyone else feeling a little bit deflated this morning?
at 08:11 23 Apr 2024

The primary focus really should be the games ahead of us and getting the results we need to complete this. However it is only natural to reflect (just not now) and yes they will be games where things couldn’t have made the task different. Key reason for focus ahead is we may not deliver in these games either, or Leicester/ Leeds could drop points and make our job easier than 3 wins to achieve promotion! Onwards.

Don’t think I’ve ever been so anxious…
at 09:22 22 Apr 2024

Everyone cool the burners. Ipswich has had a fabulous season to date. It’s such a long hard season in the Championship. Despite the highs and highs and some credit in the bank for the way we have performed, all we have done is put ourselves in a position to cap the season with a promotion!

I’m a living in the reality that few really thought this imaginable. However all outcomes are on the table.

We enter this period in a similar but not exactly same way as we have done all season. We have to work hard for every point and find ways to score goals and win matches. The difference here with the earlier season games is the critical nature of wins and 3 points, early season is points accumulation, there is little margin for error now.

We can do this. IF we were to miss autos this would surely be disappointing at this stage but would then be the playoffs as a viable solid end to season and promotion that way.

Let’s do this for the spirit of Alf, Bobby and those greats that have past. Let’s do this for all the younger fans that have not had the experience of following Ipswich as a top level club. Let’s do this for the current players and coaching group that have delivered so much excellent football and made PR a must see experience.

Caged tigers.

Don’t change anything for Saturday
at 07:57 11 Apr 2024

Last night was a good team selection. I expect GE won’t play Saturday and OH might start on bench to allow Jackson and Chaplin to start.

I’d forgotten how that last 6 - 8 ish games looked. There was some variation in form from winning to soft spell to winning and nailing it down. End of season isn’t a straight upward line to finish!

Is the 2-week break a positive or negative?
at 07:49 11 Apr 2024

KMcK typically makes the most of real time on the training pitch and this won’t be like an international break with missing players. It’s a timely end of season recamp, hopefully with a few days of r&r and time for team to be put in the strongest place possible for what lies ahead.

A real positive from last night that could be crucial
at 07:46 11 Apr 2024

Agree with this, only caveat being we don’t write this team off as it has consistently positively surprised us. I know we may have peaked if we fast forward and look back, but it’s a big leap to say all the things we’ve been doing for a long time will suddenly stop being effective right at this moment. I therefore expect it’s more compounded internal break didn’t give whole squad training pitch time leading into run of games, a couple of injuries derailing a bit, illness and a bit of tiredness from many games. I expect us to deal with this moment based on what’s come before. Town are going up.

Crowd sounded flat again
at 07:39 11 Apr 2024

Yes I felt it was flat. Speaking to a few, they concluded nerves which I do get but haven’t been feeling myself. We’ve been so good why be nervous, if that’s uncontrollable emotion, at least support the players with auditable volume!

This could be /is a once in a generation moment. We may never have this moment again in years where it’s so clear cut and in our hands.

I implore people not to turn up and watch the team nail a nil nil when we could have tried a bit harder to roar on a more inspired performance like earlier in season.

I know the players could also be feeling effects of illness, end of season tiredness or magnitude of moment but none of that gets in the way of us supporters vocally doing our bit to realise this dream.

If we are in the playoffs who would really want to sit through a game with an atmos like last night, that being the case, 2 home games left. Leave it all in the stands then we don’t need the playoffs if we can help the team deliver the final results!

If playoffs is the route, why are we nervous now? Shouldn’t we be excited by that prospect too. You might tell I’m a bit baffled how we’ve gone from the excitement of under expectations to realisation of the moment overnight. We’ve been in the position or thereabouts all season.

This is a matter for a fans forum not PR. By all means make your own thoughts known and protest in your own special way but for me PR is about promotion this season not voicing grievances over ticket policy.

It meant more to them
at 06:58 7 Apr 2024

Whilst our form suggests we get no one, please remain humble to the fact that there are still teams out there with technically better/stronger individuals than we’ve been able to accumulate over one two windows on return to the Champ.

I don’t believe it meant more to them but we clearly played at about 75% intensity which is not quite enough for our amazing team to get results at this level.

Next game is the key focus now.

Southampton midfielder 'wound up' after being booed at Ipswich

Fans are fans. It seems to be a culture at the time with players at the club. Interesting he’s still baring that grudge to the extent he’s worried by a handful of fans.

Southgate on borrowed time?
at 20:49 26 Mar 2024

It’s not really a hot take that he’s quite likely to leave the post after the Euros given his quite successful time leading Eng. Call it borrowed time if you prefer.
