Was thinking that might be a challenge. Bromley South to Victoria and then circle line and you’d just about make it I think but screwed if you don’t make the 2230ish train.
Otherwise I don’t know how easy it is to get to London Bridge and get to Liv St or Stratford from there.
Easy drive so think I’d do that if I was you. Fortunately I’m not too far away so an easy one for me and probably an uber home.
Indeed. We operate from a position of relative strength but with inherent uncertainty around one or two key players (e.g. Omari). That must mean a different approach in this window re timing etc.
Would imagine not every target is overly ambitious. We’re in no rush - if nothing moves in or out we’d start the season with a very strong side. But it will do, and we’ll be stronger.
Easy to forget that Sunderland have been in the top flight more often than not in the time we’ve been away from it.
Let’s hope we are addressing the infrastructure at pace because not a chance we stay up without approaching things very differently next time re recruitment. Hands were tied to a very large extent last summer I suppose and the more Ashton talks, the more obvious it is that our signings were made with this season in mind.
He’s 29, chasing a 3 year contract (probably his last of that length) on as much money as he can possibly get - remember he wouldn’t have earned much in football terms until relatively recently.
That coupled with a want to play every week to get in a World Cup squad makes it an absolute no brainer for him to leave us, and it’s also a no brainer to go somewhere where he’s guaranteed to be a main man - doubt that would have been the case at some of the clubs mentioned.
I think that's right. I was much more concerned last Summer with the types of jobs coming up but don't see Brentford as being as attractive to KM as Palace or Brighton.
Yep absolutely. I met him at a couple of clubs in Yorkshire and I imagine it’s rare that you see an ex ref who is clearly so well liked and respected.
Brentford is clearly an attractive proposition given where they are but it’s a tiny club isn’t it. I think if he’s turned down the likes of Brighton and Palace, and been in the running for Chelsea, maybe Man U, it would be a slightly odd choice.
