Shearer Also in Barbados

arguments against: have you heard his motd analysis? he is hilariously clueless. it won't happen, it would be a staggering choice in the context. his newcastle days were short and disastrous enough to not be offered the job.

Calculated Risks: Step Forward Mauricio Taricco
at 23:53:10

a very well written and argued piece, sir - that anyone would suggest otherwise is incredible, agree with the sentiment or not. I would add, that i would rather take MT any day, than one Mr Shearer, who, unlike many managers, has steadily proven to the entire nation most saturday evenings that he is a very, very thick man indeed.

Liverpool Reportedly Set to Match Sunderland Wickham Bid
at 00:35:16

tractorog you are I are very much on the same page here.

he's not a scintillating player per se. his touch is premiership, but i don't think his movement is there yet. he's also not the quickest. he is strong, but not deadly in front of goal. his 'potential' seems to be what people rave about; that's not enough for me. Dos Santos has potential. Everyone does. the best tend to bypass the 'got potential' stage. the championship & prem are very different leagues granted; he may do better at a bigger club. his biggest attribute is how awkward he is to play against.

I really think we should cash in. £10m i'd be delighted with.

Jewell: Easter Couldn\'t Have Gone Any Worse
at 19:16:01

fair play to Jewel, he's done a great job since coming in. tough to do the impossible with this squad.. sounds like he's going to be given an arsenal of cash to do some deals in the summer. truth is we're reliant on some 'better' players who aren't good enough or, are good enough, but don't have the mentality: such as gm.
still think we're a couple of seasons away. our squad needs 5 more players of bullard calibre, to go up.
we also need to shed our whinging, lacklustre support culture.
it's pretty pathetic & helpless.

Keane Not Drawn on Walters Claims
at 11:27:56

Walters forgets that not everyone in in the world is a big of a wimp as he is. The boy is pathetic. I'm not surprised he's terrified of Keane, when to be fair, he's as soft as sh@t.

Keane-Wickham Row Claim
at 10:56:53

'star striker' ?? Sorry, this story aside; that is simply not true. ATM Scotland is our star striker.

I don't believe there is *anything* in this story. Unless Wickham is literally the next Wayne Rooney, with comments like 'i'll keep my feet on the ground'.. and then throwing toys out of prams when he plays poorly and doesnt live up to others' expectations.

Keane: Town Won\'t Look to Sell Wickham
at 23:25:03

you lot are mental. if u went to games you'd see how much better Scotland is than Stead. So bored of clueless fans on this site, who cant remember more than 1 week before them. Keane is exactly right, as he is 90% of the time. It's not his fault we're short up front, because we're not short by much and its his players making us a competitve club again. if you want the quick win bullsh&t blame either evans, for not pumping money hard and fast, or eff off and support someone else like qpr.

to everyone else; good result this week, eh!

Keane: No Slacking at Scunthorpe
at 20:28:34

The doutbers will sit back in their 'boo' camp at the first opportunity, as we'll see. Fairweather fans, sorry. Short termers.

Your failure to see what was happening last season with all the fundamental, multifaceted contexts speaks all the volumes necessary to judge the worth of your opinions both then, and now, and yet unfortunately, you yourselves played a part in our poor form last season.

To the rest of us, in significant majority, that stayed positive, and will continue positive when we inevitably blip; CHEERS. : )

Keane a Big Fan of Lambe
at 19:53:04

Edwards is not crap. He's been very good so far this season, and was outstanding against Cardiff.

Reggie, i'm not so sure. Long, long, long way to go from what I saw at The Den.. indeed on occasion he was actually a bit lost. But, very interested to hear Keane describe him as a replacement to Carlos, because that's not really how he was played at Millwall.. so hopefully he is showing the right signs in training.

Scotland Tips Wickham for England
at 01:27:47

Wow guys! I was struck by how much Connor still has to learn on Saturday! There screams vast potential for sure, but we really need to be patient. I thought that he has a few things to learn especially about making clever runs.

I would add that we've been so desperately lacking in strike force for so many years, suddenly we have Scotland who looked excellent on Saturday, strong, intelligent and confident.. just a damn solid player; and an exciting colt next to him who makes an instant physical impact.

What will make Connor is confidence, but not just from scoring a few goals, actually deciding in his head he is the very best, and that he can win games on his own. That mentality change is what separates the creme de la creme of footballers from the highly talented.

Remember, at this age, Rooney was bashing them in from 30 yds in top premiership fixtures and showing ruthless fearlessness.

Keane Set for New Deal?
at 12:29:17

I'm struggling personally to understand fully how what Keane is bringing can be so overlooked. He has come in and is one of the few managers in the game able to remedy the ITFC squad issue that we were completely encumbered by.

He has ruthlessly purged a raft of players most managers at this level would be too scared to get rid of, for each of those player's peculiar attributes [where in reality, Keane know's they're miles away from Premiership standard or even Championship winning ability].

Keane is honest, matter of fact and effective; he's not messing about.

My only doubts about him revolve around his ability to pull modern players, though I believe may change now that results have at least started going our way; and then only mild concerns about the style of play. The qualification on the latter point is only Mowbray (West Brom) and Burley (us) have ever managed pleasing football at this level that I can recall.

I believe Keane is still an investment.

I think the contract question is generally better asked two months from now in the next International Break - purely because there is no need to upset anything, at the moment.

I also think this is paper talk : P
