Thanks good idea there of what to look out for. The Holiday inn is £274 per night for the Friday and Saturday night. Way too much over my budget.
We have a £200 voucher from the jockey club for attendance so just assumed that west tip stand was the most sensible way to spend the voucher.

Has anybody ever travelled up to the grand national at aintree?
I was hoping to travel up on the train on the Friday and stay 2 nights within an hours train journey of the track. Might even fly up if it is cheaper. I think we can get tickets for the west tip enclosure. What advice do you have for the whole trip. Looks a long train journey. |

It would be interesting to see if there are stats for Godfrey at ITFC and SUFC. I don't think I ever saw him attempt a tackle for us. All he did was jockey a player and back off and he played just like that for the blunts. I feel for the lad as he was once a decent player, but something is clearly wrong with him now. |

I think the key is if we pick up any long term injuries. We have a lot of options in our squad now. Still a bit away from Saturday/Tuesday/Saturday football. We should really take off when that starts happening next month. |

I watched a lot of that. Yes that was a pretty poor show from them. If they play anywhere near that kind of game at Portman Road then they will get a lot of stick.
Hopefully we have a lot of options to open them up right now. We could do with building on that at Blackburn. |

He gave the opposition the majority of the 50/50s first half, but did improve a bit second half. On the whole I think it was a fairly easy game to ref as the Blunts didn't cheat that much. |

People are getting wise to the cost of football. Folk are starting to take the armchair route big time. I don't blame them 1 but. Until football is affordable to the common man then I see it happening time and again. Clubs prefer the one off football travellers to season ticket holders. |

I'm not sure what to think about Sheffield United? First of all it was nice to not see the low block. The first 60 seconds summed up the match as a whole. We got into 2 strong positions and they got into 1. Superb. United actually played fairly well first 20 minutes and yet we still had 4 shots on target in that time. For the rest of the half they continued to stretch us without pulling the trigger and yet we still had additional shots on goal.
2nd half was a bit more one sided in the scoreline, but United still came at us again and again. This gave us big opportunity to move the ball across the zones and have the freedom of pitch. Poor Mr Godfrey does not like tackling at Portman Road does he. Many more shots on target for us and 4 more goals. Lovely.
But you look at the match stats. They completed a lot more passes than us and had loads of touches in our box. Really bizzare. There is definitely a team in there, but something just isn't quite right for them.
So all in all a great night for us, with some lovely performances out there. Hopefully we take take that confidence to Ewood Park next week. But please no low block boredom. [Post edited 13 Sep 9:47]

I had forgotten about that. Poor lad. He was once a strong player. He has done well to keep going in the pro game. That was a carbon copy of how he played versus city last year. He just does not tackle. I suggest his issue is a lot worse than is let on.

Very impressive. Nice to hear a story like this in a world that is no very nice. He did look like he had a dangerous weight and he fixed it. I was never too keen on him. But fair play to him. Very inspirational. |

I like the point banksy is trying to make, but it's factually incorrect as judges in the UK don't have gavels. Perhaps he knew this and was just trying to make a point. Maybe it would not work so well had the judge punched him. |

It was very tight until we scored and then got the second. Then Serbia had to come out and play. That's where we messed up v Derby, we didn't get the second. Their gameplan remained the same at 1 down and the rest is history. |

He has done well since the euros. Personally I thought he'd never wear the shirt again. Then again the qualifiers are seeded so we always face lousy sides. So they are much easier than tourney football. Perhaps he should be back tracked for the world cup. Assuming Mr Delap develops this season. |

I would be inclined to target the Coventry match as they might actually try and beat us. The others might stick 11 behind the ball and it becomes a war of attrition, like most teams have done to us thus far. |
