You have proven my point, didn't want to engage and tried to reframe the discussion without once addressing what I actually wrote. I even agreed with you when you made the point about calling out racism when I never stated otherwise, but it needs to actually be racist not just people questioning current events.

Pathetic cop-out? - this is precisely my point, you've responded to my bland comment by talking about calling out racism and quoting a term I didn't use. You've assumed my morality and made a judgment on what you thought I meant rather than what I actually wrote.
I agree that calling out people being racist is morally correct, but the leap in logic in assuming someone is racist because they think too many migrants are arriving in such a short space of time without adequate services to support them is surely going a bit too far. Don't dismiss the underlying problem here. Plus this is Britain, surely we're allowed to moan about it, just as much as you can moan about others people's opinions.
It's the "you can't have an opinion because I think you're racist" attitude that I can't stand. |

The people calling others bigots because they don't think a person's views are valid are basically just trying to shut down a conversation that is uncomfortable for them.
It would be nice if people can disagree without calling someone racist. It's clear that the government think the number of people crossing the channel is a problem otherwise why do they bother saying they will tackle it? Surely if it was all ok, we would just send our own boats to France and pick them up for free to stop the gangs profiting?
Other countries get to choose who come to their country. Why are we not shaming them?
It's just a discussion, each side can say what they want but it's always like one side is trying to stifle the other and make them out to be inferior. |
