 | Forum Reply | Soooo..... on what basis did VAR need to get involved there?! (n/t) at 19:14 13 Mar 2025
There is a very slight wobble of the ball before he kicks it with his right foot. Plus with his left foot sliding from under him the ball would have hit the top of his left foot as he kicked it with the right anyway Either way it was going to be a double hit |

I would like to have seen a player on the post at corners after conceding from 2 set pieces, shocking they had an extra man and couldn't put a player on the line for the third |

Exactly and I don't think we should ever move on, most blatant penalty I've ever seen And Jack Clarke obstructs the refs view at the key moment (Chaplin controlling the ball) the VAR absolutely should have sent the ref to the screen precisely because his view was obstructed What Gallagher said on Sky Sports was a load of bull. The ref needed to review it as his "explanation" was obviously wrong... |

I don't get this sort of opinion, conceding isn't our biggest problem... It is when a number of those conceded have been down to individual errors. Cutting those out first should be the priority. It wouldn't be so much an issue if all these goals had been due to a great bit of skill or a worldie If they cut out the mistakes and still keep losing, yes it would then be a case of scoring goals, can't keep shooting ourselves in the foot and expect to score 2 goals a game just to get a point |

OK, Then I never want to see anyone sent off for a reckless challenge that makes minimal or zero contact ever again. |
 | Forum Reply | Should this have been a red card? at 13:45 26 Jan 2025
Ah but there lies the issue, if he flicked out a foot just to trip the player but caught him studs up above ankle, that means it was out of control and dangerous, as it wasn't what he intended... |
 | Forum Reply | Should this have been a red card? at 13:43 26 Jan 2025
Why does serious foul play have to be a dangerous tackle? Surely cheating is serious foul play by definition? |
 | Forum Reply | Should this have been a red card? at 12:09 26 Jan 2025
They should've just said it's Red for unsporting behaviour. Blatant cheating, no intention of playing the ball, overstretching just to stop the player Cynical fouls like that would soon stop [Post edited 26 Jan 12:10]

That still makes it look extremely reckless/dangerous, cynical trip would be contact with top/side of boot not studs. If the ref has spotted that in real time fair play to him... In real time from afar it does just look like a trip [Post edited 26 Jan 11:54]

Unfortunately 'clear and obvious' isn't applied to offsides as it's treated as a black and white issue: you're either on or off. The problem with that is it's subjective when the ball is played, what frame do they use if the ball was played between two? At the moment the ball is touched or after it leaves the foot? But as it was such a close call, the argument could be raised that the lino should never have flagged [Post edited 22 Dec 2024 9:17]
