Dear oh dear. Two horrendous gifts from Hladky tonight. He has been soft in goal for a number of games lately. If we go up, unfortunately he is nowhere near Premiership standard. He is playing recently like he did when he was dropped for Walton previously.
Omari - wow just wow. Could argue that he should start against Coventry on the right.
Davis injury didn’t look good 1 hope it’s nothing serious.
Fantastic return for Hirst.
It’s still in our hands, but that performance doesn’t help with the nerves. |

We should go at them from the start. Lately we have not been aggressive in the first half and have come away with draws. We are stronger in attack than defence.
I would not expect the same old next season and being honest, we could finish bottom of go up - but we would have been back in the promised land. We would do well to try and sign top championship players for a potential Championship push a few seasons later.
Think we should try and sign Whittaker from Plymouth in the Summer either way.

I think McKenna needs to tell some players that the most important thing is goals to win the game. A couple recently have shown a bit of greed the last few games when others are in easier positions. One in player particular today.
Getting over the line is the most important thing.

Hope we can get a result. Ever since the Cardiff game (ignoring the easy Sheffield Wednesday game), we have not looked 100% our best unfortunately. The performance against Norwich was well below par and you would not have known it was a derby game.
Fingers crossed lads - monumental season already - but let’s not have any regrets and fall at final hurdle. End the season knowing we performed in every game.

Don’t get me wrong he’s not bad, but some of the goals that have gone in have to go down as goalkeeper mistake unfortunately. No matter if we go up or not - apart from David, we need a new back line as it is easily the weakest part of the team. |

Comments from some people always make me laugh. Fair play they are your opinion and they are yours to give.
Calling Crystal Palace a small club? We have just rejoined the Championship after being originally stuck in it for 20 years. What happened a good nearly 40 odd years ago (major trophy) oh and is being in the Premiership 20 odd years ago does not make us a big club anymore. Time to get back to the present.
McKenna would probably fit Crystal Palace very well and would be silly to turn it down in the summer if offered. This could be a 1 season wonder for us for a few years as ffp will hinder us if we don’t go up this season.
So come the end of the season lot could well be us still in the Championship and McKenna off to the Premiership. |

@grumpyoldman - we have continuously been slow with build ups letting the opposition get back
and then we can’t break them down. Not the fast attacking football at the start of the season. One of the main culprits of our starting 11 is Wolfenden who dawdles on the ball.
We have to move the ball quicker like what we saw with Sarmiento and Hutchinson the game prior and a glimpses of it in the first half.
I found Mckenna’s interview strange after the game. Alright being Mr nice guy, but the lines of some did not put in a performance that was good enough - should have been said. |

Europablue - I think it’s because Hutchinson can be guilty of overdoing it. Don’t get me wrong there is some skill there, but more often than not he reminds me of Anthony at Man Utd. When/if he gets past his man, the shot or cross just isn’t there unfortunately. On the other hand you have burns who is direct with getting past his man and whipping in a cross or scoring himself.
With where we are in the season (which is something beyond remarkable), we need a player who does get past and is more direct. Able to be involved in goals will be so much of an important factor now in the second half of the season.
Not sure Hutchinson is quite that at this stage of his career - can we afford not to have a better player with our current injury issue with Hirst? Who knows. |

I got marked down saying that we needed to buy/replace outside of starting 11 on another article. Last 2 games I hope have opened a few people’s eyes.
What is going on with Williams? Starting a centre back instead of him.
We need a striker badly with Hirst out for a while and a centre back at least.
I would send back Hutchinson as I don’t rate him personally. Doesn’t get past his player and produce a decent enough effort on goal or cross unfortunately. Surely we can find better.
I know we have had a tough one with a few of the big boys, but no win in 5 and failing to score 2 games in a row, the signs show we need some help with signings. |

Fair play you want to keep the team together, but there may be a few that could be replaced and don’t really feature or are not good enough. A few spring to mind….. Ball, Aluko, Jackson, Ladapo, Evans, Donacien. They are ether not playing and won’t play or not good enough. |

That isn’t a surprise result with their signings and just coming from the Premiership. Could be the same again Boxing Day.
Just a few things from the game. 1) surprised the starting 11 that lost the first half 3-0 then all come out for the start of the second. 2) starting to become clearer and clearer that if plan A doesn’t work, we have no plan B to fall back on.
Still 2nd at Christmas is an unexpected present for us all to enjoy. Let’s hope January brings a few late presents in January with some goods signings to help us push on.
