Guessing I'm the only one who thinks that cross was murics ball to claim? (n/t)
at 16:45 29 Sep 2024

This narrative that O'Shea is somehow to blame for everything is taking confirmation bias to a new level. Davis didn't block the cross, Muric didn't come for it, the attacker got between O'Shea and Tuanzebe but the usual suspects are slagging off O'Shea.

That sums it up for me.
at 12:16 22 Sep 2024

It's fine to have a discussion or a debate but it's completely beyond me how anyone can form a strong opinion on O'Shea from such a small number of games. I like Woolfy, I like O'shea. Whoever plays has my full support. The reason this thread has had such a negative response is O'Shea has been called "utter pish" in the OP.

We've just conceded one goal in two away Premier League games. That sentence would've been unthinkable any time in the last twenty years. We used to laugh at entitled Chelsea and West Ham fans calling multi million pound athletes rubbish but five games into being a Premier League club we've now got some of our own. Brilliant.

Feeling a bit low this morning... Modern football is rubbish
at 10:49 25 Aug 2024

This is what the Premier League has become in our absence. So much wrong with it but we're all stuck with it. The fan reaction to the European Super League proposal showed what fans really think of what the game has developed into. Unfortunately the only alternative is to have no success, which we've had for twenty years and that wasn't much fun either.

Everything I hate about football
at 19:35 24 Aug 2024

I thought the same. Soulless corporate stadium with no noise from home fans that are stuck in a loveless marriage with owners that have cheated their way to countless trophies. They know it, we know it, but we all have to go through the motions. We have the audacity to take the lead so VAR gets involved. Missing League One.

Brighton tickets sold out on 15+ then
at 15:18 22 Aug 2024

I've been fortunate to get both Man City and Brighton tickets but I would like to see more go to a ballot. People that have supported the club through thick and thin over many years are at risk of being frozen out. Many people aren't free every weekend, it could be work, maybe you're divorced and only see your kids every other weekend, maybe you have caring commitments for elderly or disabled relatives.
The problem with the points system is that the more points you have the easier it is to get points. Frankly, you've got more chance of getting to a game if you know someone with 25 points that isn't going to a game but is willing to let you use their points than if you have 14 points yourself. The system is open to abuse and doesn't take into account long term support from people who simply cannot go every week.

Siege mentality fully in place in the England camp

I think by 'rubbish' he means stuff like the players families getting abuse and having stuff thrown on them. Yes, the racist abuse they get. Stuff like this just shouldn't happen however badly they play. (And I've seen plenty worse England teams).

In the end, England are less than the sum of their parts.
at 21:01 25 Jun 2024

Reminds me so much of Lambert's Ipswich, lots of pointless, boring possession, completing lots of passes but not hurting the opposition. Oh for the days of Wilson and Nsiala passing it back and forth with eleven opponents sat behind the ball.

Memberships & ballots
at 10:02 20 Jun 2024

I think people need to acknowledge that this is a very tough choice for the club and not as simple as superfans who deserve tickets and glory hunters that don't. They need to maximise revenue, bring in new fans (that will become the 'superfans' of the future) and try to keep existing fans happy. They now have a situation where there is a huge demand for their product and limited space after many years of us all assuming we can pretty much just turn up to whichever games we fancy. This will cause issues that are not simple to resolve. I've got a membership with over 20 points so I guess I may be OK for tickets for most away games but I haven't got a season ticket so I have no idea if I'll be able to get any home tickets at all such will be the demand. Am I more deserving and loyal as an away fan but a gloryhunter as a home fan? Of course not, it's just how circumstances have worked out.

Away tickets next season
at 15:44 18 Jun 2024

Something like this would be good, I think. The current points system is very skewed. The more points you have the easier it is to get more points. I have a decent number so I'm sure most people in my position were getting messages all season along the lines of, ' are you going to Hull? my mate Dave wants to come but hasn't got the points can I use yours?'.

Liverpool home - looking for a ticket
at 15:36 18 Jun 2024

We suddenly find ourselves in a position where every home game is going to be difficult to get tickets. I'm sure there's plenty of people in my situation, we've been going regularly to a decent number of games for years and years but life/work/family issues mean a season ticket is simply not going to be possible. I've been a season ticket holder in the past when circumstances were different and I'm likely to be one again in the future. There was no problem getting tickets as a member in League One, even the Exeter promotion game. I don't know what the system will be but there's a chance I might not be able to get to a home game next season.

If Brighton,Chelsea and Man Utd decide against appointing McKenna then what next
at 20:37 23 May 2024

People have seriously lost their f-ing minds over this. 'coming back with his tail between his legs' Can you imagine when he was appointed being told that it would go so well he would be a serious candidate for the Chelsea and Man Utd jobs in such a short space of time? It was unthinkable. Of course he's going to talk to them and see what the situation is, anyone would in his position. I desperately hope he stays because he's been nothing short of outstanding from day one. Some of our so called fans don't deserve him, that's for sure.

All this nonsense needs to end now
at 08:44 20 May 2024

Exactly. The club could give a statement at 9am this morning and there's a new story that emerges at 9:30am and people start demanding a response to that.

We have to live with uncertainty. Let's say the situation is that KM has been offered another improved contract by Ipswich but there's serious interest from Brighton and he wants to speak with them before deciding. A perfectly reasonable stance for everybody to be taking. You're not going to get a statement from the club saying that's what is happening. As I said before, Ashton has just said there will be lots of speculation, we will hear from the club when there is something concrete to tell us. We're not going to hear about every stage along the way.

All this nonsense needs to end now
at 17:33 19 May 2024

Premier League clubs don't give out statements confirming or otherwise reports in the press and social media regarding their staff. It would be chaos. Literally days ago the CEO gave an interview saying there will be all sorts of speculation and we should take it with a pinch of salt, when there are some facts to give us we will hear about it then. I'm sure McKenna and a lot of the coaches and players will have other offers to consider, that's football.

We're Having The Football Version
at 17:07 9 May 2024

Of when you discover a band in the back room of a pub. They're really good and they start to play better venues and you're pleased for them. But now they've had a couple of hit singles and they're on the radio all the time and they're about to announce a big tour that will be a sell out. This intimate little thing you love will become something else and you're really happy but also slightly put out.
I've realised it's going to be harder to get tickets and more expensive. I'm going to have people at work telling me we're rubbish instead of asking me how we got on at the weekend and giving a snort when I say we beat Morecombe.

Imagine being a Town fan in April 2021
at 14:13 9 May 2024

Yes, a lot of that season was behind closed doors wasn't it? I remember sitting watching on the laptop on my own wondering why I was bothering. Wasn't there some dross from Evans about how there was good stuff happening but we couldn't appreciate it because we didn't get the full picture as we weren't in the ground?!?!

Home Ticket Priority
at 08:15 8 May 2024

This is going to be difficult to work out for the club. Many people have to work weekends or have family/caring issues which means a season ticket is out of the question but they have been regular attenders when they are free. Personally I've been going to whatever game there is when I haven't been working, whether that is League One or Championship or whatever. I am now facing a more expensive membership (I guess) and the prospect of fewer games as getting hold of tickets will be harder.
