Berra: Probably My Most Important Goal
at 09:42:42

I think for us, luckily, Berra has all the strengths needed to be an excellent CB in the championship, but his comparative lack of pace will put off most Premier League clubs.

That's not to say however, I can't see a Championship side with a bit of cash coming in for him. As teams like Nottingham Forest, Fulham and a couple of others throw silly money at transfers, more money at this stage of his career could turn his head. Hopefully not though.

Town and Charlton Linked With Koren
at 10:27:06

Good player, and on the right deal would be a very good acquisition. 1yr contract, with option of 2nd year after a certain amount of games played.

Yeovil Pair Linked
at 10:51:37

I was saying just yesterday the only player i'd take from Yeovil would be Luke Ayling, he's a natural right back with a good delivery who's also solid defensively. Would slot into our back 4 perfectly.

Agree with Bown that Marek Stech is worth a look too. Improvement on what we current have in goal.

Ebanks-Blake Handed First League Start
at 19:15:19

Looks like a very sensible line-up to me. 2 out and out wingers hopefully providing deliveries to strikers who have both got records of scoring this sort of system.

Don't understand why so many people are fangirling Taylor. Yes he can shoot and dribble, but his decision making is very poor. Can burden the team at points.

If by 'further additions' he means 'creative midfielder' then this is good news.

McCarthy Hoping Hyam Isn't Missed
at 10:10:20

Although it is unfortunate Hyam got injured, i'm looking forward to Tunnicliffe and Skuse getting a proper chance in the middle. 2 out and out wingers on each flanks, hopefully Hunt and Edwards, might make us seem a little more dangerous also. Although neither are going to drive past a player, they can deliver a fair cross.

Murphy is going to be a key player in this game. Harry in his excellent piece from the Reading forums shows that they feel Alex Pierce is a mistake waiting to happen, and a bruising display from Murphy may well deliver that.

Hope Mcgoldrick gets a goal as well. He's a fairly streaky player who needs confidence, so him netting a goal could result in a few more in upcoming games. A lift that would benefit the whole team.

Reading Will Be in Play-Off Shake-Up
at 10:06:03

Four good wingers, must be referring to Hunt, Edwards, Anderson, and Tabb maybe?

I'd probably say 4 adequate wingers, each with strengths and weaknesses. But none of them can beat a man and whip in a quality ball. These 4 strengths are mostly work rate, defensive cover and the ability to play in different positions.

McCarthy: Gerks' Place Never in Doubt
at 10:02:54

Gerken is the much better option for me. Loach had his chance when he came in against Preston, and conceded 3.

A big part of being a goalkeeper isn't just shot stopping and coming for crosses, but also communicating with your defence etc, and I think Gerken does that much better than Loach. I can remember seeing Chambers giving Loach an earful at the start of the season sue to a lack of communication between the goalkeeper and the defence leading to an error, and Gerken espouses a confidence in himself Loach never did.

Also, that beard is mighty impressive.

Holding onto a lead for 85+ minutes is the main thing to take away from todays game. That hasn't happened in a very, very long time!

Town Confirm Hunt Deal
at 15:26:56

Good signing.

Also encouraging, as it shows that Mick is acknowledging a lack of creativity in the midfield, and has activiely set about finding a solution to that! Would like to see him play on Saturday i this midfield:

Anderson - Skuse - Tunnicliffe - Hunt

N'Daw Moves to Greece
at 22:58:31

Now, there's definitely an Owen Garvan shaped hole in our midfield sitting next to Cole Skuse.

Go on Mick, give Ollie a ring, and once you've deciphered his west country bluster, persuade him to give us Garvan on loan for a year. On the cheap as well.

Lee Signs on Non-Contract Basis
at 15:54:56

I personally can't wait for the moment when i'm watching final score and it pops up that Ipswich have scored, and that the goal scorer was Alan Lee...

As I will Immediately leap up from my seat and start yelling 'ALAN LEE...GOAL!..." into the confused faces of my housemates for a good couple of minutes at least.

And his signing will be worth it. For that one glorious moment.

Nouble Mcgoldrick

And playing the ball on the floor a bit more would be nice.

Where Is Our 20-Goal-A-Season Man?
at 20:04:37

A point to be made here, although people are citing the examples of Hull and Cardiff last season of teams that have success without a prolific goalscorer, they were aided by creative, forward thinking midfielders. Look at Koren at Hull and Whittingham at Cardiff.

Although i'm not trying to be pessimistic, we do need our strikers to be scoring our goals, as looking at our midfield it isn't packed with goals. For instance our starting midfield 4 against Reading. Edwards got 3 last season, Hyam and Tabb got one, whilst Skuse didn't register a goal.

Whilst teams can go up without their strikers scoring 20+ goals, ours isn't a squad that can be afforded such a luxury.

Town Close to Completing Veseli Deal
at 03:35:07

@Bluemoon, your comment that to be a season ticket holder to be a 'full time' supporter of the club that I, and many others, hold so dear is insulting.

Many of us, including me if you'd actually be so inclined to look at my username, live across the country. The sheer thought of attending home games is absolutely financially un-viable for me, as both a student and someone who lives halfway across the country. The same can be said for many others of the frequent, but no less dedicated, frequenters of this site. Does that makes me any less of a fan?

But do not get me wrong, every time I pass your small hole, where I can only imagine you compile your small minded views, i'll doff my hat.

Oh, and in a completely related manner. Veseli would be a fantastic signing.

P.s. you do know nowadays 'bluemoon' refers mostly to Manchester city. So shouldn't you be appearing at their games? And ridding one Suffolk village of there local idiot? At least for one, joyous day.

McCarthy Pleased With Trio of Trialists
at 09:41:48

I don't know why Chambers at RB is daft. Stearman last season was primarily a CB that we played at Right Back, and just look at he performed.

Whilst it's not ideal, it's definitely a viable option in my opinion.
