Apparently it was posted to TownTV yesterday but I've only just realised that after quite some absence the BenchCam feature is back. Genuinely one of my favourite bits of post-match content after a win. I must watch each goal back at least ten times to spot different reactions from coaches/players.
Ivan and Marcelino loving the first goal. Jens in disbelief at Philogene's third goal were some of my highlights. The new club doctor also seemed to be loving it!
I been a collector for the big RBL collection day at tube stations for the past 5 years and the biggest donations tend to come from people who just get one of the paper ones (which now come with a paper stalk to reduce plastic waste). Someone gave me £100 for a paper poppy once - lovely chap!
I don't see why physios on the pitch wouldn't work in football. It works well in rugby which is much faster moving game than it used to be. 4th official to control their entry to the playing field.
While the club doesn't officially have a Google Wallet option for season tickets I've manually added the QR code to mine and it works perfectly well at the turnstiles.
It's a handy back up for the odd occasion I've managed to forget my wallet and will save a call to the ticket office.
Infantino has been chucking money at the smaller FIFA nations for years to secure his position. The travel costs for some international games are tiny compared with some of the money that has been moved around!
Some kind of equivalent of the FA Trophy for the lower FIFA ranked clubs would be better for them IMO. Run it as a straight knockout with the semis and final being played in the same country/venues as the main World Cup at the beginning of the World.
Think in some ways this is better - let the season get into more of a flow and then have a bit of a longer break. Teams with fewer international players will benefit from a decent training block - be a bit crap for teams with lots of players away though.
I personally think it's unlikely that Egeli starts. He plays on Tuesday for Norway's U21s and even if he flies back that night will only get a couple of training sessions in with the squad. It's a big ask to put a young player straight in when he's stepping up a level and in a different country. I think he'll be slowly introduced from the bench as we did with Omari when he came on loan.
Furlong versus Young will be an interesting one. Thought the latter has been one of the louder leadership voices on the field so far and technically the best player on the pitch.
Think maybe Akpom is the most likely to get a start. Szmodics has been away on international duty and will only get back on Wednesday while Akpom has been here throughout the break.
Quite a few clubs will register an U21 keeper as their 3rd choice and then go down the emergency loan route if one of their main keepers gets injured. If we'd positioned Button in the same role as David Martin - i.e. training keeper/coach role then this might have been a path to go down.
I thought the same. According to Phil's article about his call-up to the Kiwi squad he's going to be going away to the U20 World Cup in the autumn so maybe that influenced decisions.
Thought he might get another loan this year. Has the U20 World Cup put some potential options off? Leaving at that time to go away for what could be a month isn't ideal.
Yes - agreed. The point I was trying to make was that they've managed to get the coordination right a few times. They now need to show they can do it at this level - I think a few times they have got it right but still lots to do.
A lot of the responses to this seem to be suggesting it's a binary thing where Leif will either be inverted all the time or outside all the time. In reality I think what Leif coming inside SOMETIMES does it to make it much more difficult for opposition players to know who to track.
He came inside a few times on Saturday but also made some of this trademark lungbusting runs down the wing. One of which led to Philogene laying it off for him in the box to put a cross in.
The trick seems to be the co-ordination between him and his team mates about who is going where and when i.e. what are the triggers they are both looking for for Leif to come inside. It worked well with him and Philogene against Aberdeen in pre-season and him and Clarke in the first half against Bromley.
