Keane: Competition For Places Stronger Than Ever
at 13:13:02

I think the fullback positions are interesting... Jamie peters has done VERY well there so far this year and would have probably have felt a little dissapointed being dropped V Cardiff, as he (IMO) was our best player against QPR. (Not saying Eastman didn't do well... he did)
On the other side we have O'Connor and Kennedy and both appear to be behind O'Dea in RK's mind and this brings up an interesting point... it appears that RK prefers to go with 4 centre backs in the back line... I heard a quote where he said Jamie Peters had done well but was a bit attack minded at times...
If you look at the modern game, the bigger clubs play exactly that... attack minded Full Backs, but RK seems to prefer more defensive FB's... I'm not saying this is right or wrong, but I do think their will be more and more games this season where teams try to sit back and soak up the pressure and it is often the unmarked FB that can make the difference... O'Dea and Eastman don't really fit that bill... I'd much rather see Peters and O'Connor/Kennedy as they are decent defenders (I haven't seen Peters destroyed yet this season and he's the most inexperianced of them in that role) but can also add something more going forward.

Keane: No Loanee This Week
at 15:28:38

hucks216: let's hope it isn't a left back... we have plenty. Although we only have Peters at right back there are others who could cover there... where we are VERY short is central midfield... we need at least one more central midfielder as i don't believe healy is good enough cover.

McAuley Fit and Confident After Town\'s Strong Start
at 19:05:17

WickedBlue; i like the sound of a giant whooosh.... but what is it?

As far as the post goes... It's very encouraging the start we have had, especially considering some of the games we have had to play... I'm very, very happy at 10 points so far and my 7 year old son (He has his own season ticket) has even stopped going on about getting a Man Utd shirt for his birthday... (My response was always non-commital... something like... "you can have one son... just as soon as you move out of my house when you grow up!) he used to go on and on about Wayne Rooney being his favorite player as well... Now... He now tells everyone that he's a blue's fan and David Norris is his favorite player!

Joy, deep joy!

Keane Nominated for Manager of the Month
at 18:57:31

Warnock will probably get it... RK deserves to be in the frame though... who would have thought we would have 10 points after the first 4 fixtures we had? Not many, I suspect... I didn't and I'm an eternal optomist!

Keane Waiting on Edwards Ahead of Palace Trip
at 14:14:58

I'd play Priskin in the middle up front (He looked good there against Middlesbrough) not Stead, who likes to drift wide and leaves a big whole in the middle so no one is there on the end of crosses… But then again, I'm not the manager…

Pablo Set to Join Palace Today

meekreech: If you read the reports Cardiff are paying 50% of Bellamey's wages,,, so that's around £45k a week! or about 4 times the amount we are paying Stead and everyone says that is too high for a Championship player...

As far as signings are concerned: Chopra is supposedly on £18k a week and will Cardiff want to pay that for someone on the bench? The issue will be the fee (I believe we offered short of £3m and Cardiff still owe Middlesbrough more than that) and then the wages… I would be very surprised if we ended signing Chopra… The Scotland deal is more likely to happen if Wigan find someone to replace… unless Rogers gets the heave ho after a big loss to Chelsea at the weekend….

Good News on Leadbitter Injury
at 14:32:39

As others have said... great news... let's hope he gets back quick as he does make a good 3 with Hyam and Norris... personaly I'd look at Hourahaine for Saturday as apossed to Healy (The last of the ones, I'd be real happy to see leave as I'm not sure with Stead)

Official Receiver to Get Walters Cash
at 14:29:30

Good point promotionparty... We have scored 7 goals in 3 games, but I do agree we need to strengthen the Foward line now we have lost Pablo, Walters and Martin... so we need a striker that can score about 10 goals a season, coz that's all they could manage between them! (I'm not serious here... just making the poin we are not loosing bags of goals... yes we need a decent striker, but it isn't ALL bad with the partings.)

Pablo Loan Set to Go Through Today
at 14:24:41

Surco72: I think most of us would rather see Garven than healy play... In fact I'd rather see my 7 year old son play than Healy as he's not very good... but I'd rather see Leadbitter, Norris and Hyam play than Garven, so I'm not too bothered... maybe we will see that 18 year old (Hourahaine...spell?) we got from Sunderland instead on Saturday.... or Civelli if he's fit.... again I'd rather see both of them than Garven as well.
As for Wright v Peters... maybe at the moment as Wright has the experiance... but give Peters a couple of months to bed in as a RB and I beleive he'll be a far better option.
Counago v Murray.... in the squad (on the bench)... sorry disagree here as well... Pablo is probably (just) the better player at the moment, but have you seen Murray play? Gives his all.... looked good v West Ham and OK v Burnley when he came on... more than can be said of Pablo lately from all accounts.
I think we have gone in the right direction, got rid off the old wood and looking to replace with better/hungrier players... I think you may find we sign at least 2 in the next week.

Two More Strikers Set to Move On?
at 19:23:43

£2.75M for Walters is a great deal... it won't rise to the £3.25m as I can't see him making the appearances to be honest... just warming the bench... Oh and I'd let both Stead and Pablo go, but only if we bring in at least 1 if not 2 more strikers.

Very, very good money for Walters... As a town fan I am really happy about this deal... now let's see some coming in... The Scotland deal is annoying... by all accounts all done and dusted then Wigan pull the plug! Probably want their new manager to decide as I suspect we will have the first Managerial casualty when Wigan get stuffed by Chelsea at the weekend...

Wigan Put Scotland Deal On Hold
at 15:02:25

robdaful: I don't think the Bellamy to Cardiff loan deal has gome through... I understand Spurs, Fulham and (add another team here, can't remember) are also interested on taking him on loan. If you were Bellamy were would you want to play, The Premiership or The Championship? He's only been linked with them as its his hometown club. It would be like Dyer being pushed out at West Ham, he would be linked with ITFC, but we couldn't afford him and there would be another Premiership club on hand to offer him a place... in fact more so as Bellamy doesn't have Dyers injury record.

QPR Club Making New Move for Walters
at 14:49:23

I think you might find that the course of events surrounding Walters and the bust up with RK is slightly different to what is being reported/discussed on here. I have no proof, only a keen eye for detail and a good memory on what has/hasn't been said.

Bear with me a while… If I'm right, then I think this is what happened: Walters went to RK and told him he wanted to leave (This was a few weeks ago, not last week! RK said last week that Walters had come to him 3 weeks previous and asked for a move.); now we carry on regardless, get the Walters was 2nd best player in Championship last year quote; (Obviously bigging him up for a better fee as if RK knew 3 weeks ago, then he knew when he said this…) everything to the outside world is normal, Walters is captain at Middlesbrough, again to keep that fee up; then we get to last Tuesday… A cup game at Exeter and all of a sudden Walters has a mysterious virus and can't play… RK even mentioned it once last week (briefly) saying he couldn't prove if players were feigning illness… this is what got RK's back up more than anything… this is why Walters was stripped of the captaincy… but of course RK couldn't prove anything so won't make a big song and dance about it, but decided to act by taking away the armband (reasonable for either reason) Walters does a big barney, and then RK says enough is enough… your outta here!

As I've said, not based on fact, but based on innuendo and brief comments made… and it does fit the facts better than RK taking the armband away coz he asked for a move… he would have done that pre-Middlesbrough if that was the case. Sounds to me that Walters has been a bit of a naughty boy on this one and so I say so long, farewell Walters, your time is up!

Keane Happy With Four-Point Haul
at 18:05:07

What a difference a week makes... For the past couple of months, I've been feeling like I'm one a very few who had high hopes of this season... I've been ridiculed for that belief as well, especially when defending RK, now… everyone's on a high and talking up the town after 2 wins and a draw… god football fans are a fickle lot aren't they…
Anyway, I am encouraged by our start, feel we still need a couple of extra players (although not sure on this guy from Celtic… why give a Celtic youngster match practice when we can continue with out own youngster (Smith) who has been solid as a rock so far… I don't agree with that one… I think we need a couple more attacking players for our front 3 (To add to Wickham and Townsend) and another decent midfielder to cover Leadbitter/Norris/Hyam… and then I'm confident of a decent season.
Well done RK… and I back you fully in your stance on Walters and have my own views on what really went on (Putting pieces together from lots of bits I've read) and I don't think anyone has actually reported anywhere near the full story on that one!
