 | News Comment | Ipswich Town 5-0 Sheffield United - Match Report at 10:27:20
What a relief to get that first win and with a bit of style and a clean sheet as well. Great to see that our attackers do still know where the goal is! Three super goals by Philogene. Just hope that he and the team kick on from this now. Mustn't get carried away though because Sheffield gave us a lot of help! |
 | News Comment | Szmodics Out of Irish Squad Due to Injury at 13:51:59
I wonder if Sammie is just making sure that he can play on Friday. Hope so. Kieran hasn't been able to get the best out of him yet, partly due to injuries, but he was outstanding for Blackburn in 2023/24. Clarke and Philogene were also excellent in the Championship that season but have so far failed to deliver for Kieran. I wonder why. System?, defensive duties? or failure to get the ball to them quick enough (before there are 10 men behind the ball)? |
 | News Comment | Ogbene Completes Blades Loan Move at 19:00:07
Makes sense to let him go out on loan. He's only just returned from a bad injury but prior to that injury his weapons were his pace and stamina. Unfortunately in the games he has featured in this season those attributes have been missing. If he regains his pace and fitness at Sheff Utd we may benefit next season. |
 | News Comment | Chaplin Set For Pompey Return at 18:46:07
I have mixed feelings about this. I don't think Chappers is the player that he was 18 months ago, so I wasn't expecting him to be a regular starter and he may therefore be moving for more minutes on the pitch. We will however miss his enthusiasm and team bonding skills on the training ground and around the club. Although Morsy was our leader I always felt that Chappers was the glue that bonded our close knit team together. It is therefore sad that he is leaving. I had assumed that Szmodics would be our number 10 but is Nunez also an option that far forward? |
 | News Comment | Ipswich Town 2-2 Derby County - Match Report at 20:00:41
Our poor start to the season continues. I wonder if our rigid formation and tactics are now stifling our creative players. We have to pass the ball much quicker and be more inventive in the final third. I would like our attacking players to be encouraged to do what comes naturally in and around the box. Egri must start against Sheff Utd and I would like to see Akpom up front and Nunes in midfield. |
 | News Comment | Blues Host Derby Chasing First Win of Season at 20:14:58
Got to find a way to win 2morro to boost the confidence of the team and the fans and then grind out results until all the new guys are fully fit and bedded in. We should then be too good for most teams in this league and could still push for top two. |
 | News Comment | Town Agree Fee For Norwegian Youngster Egeli at 10:15:11
Will be very happy if this is confirmed. He ticks lots of boxes. Fast, tall, strong, good touch, creates chances, scores goals and still very young. He may need time to adjust to the demands of the Championship but he could become a top player. |
 | News Comment | Preston North End 1-0 Ipswich Town - Match Report at 20:08:41
Our starting eleven in the last two games is, excluding Taylor, probably the best in the league on paper but a lack of confidence and predictable tactics are preventing them from showing that. A couple more new faces may inject some confidence but Kieran's got to get this team firing on all cylinders very soon. The majority owners want to reduce their holding so they need us to be near the top of the league. If therefore Kieran can't put a winning run together soon another manager may be given the chance to save our season. I want Kieran to turn things round but his current record of 4 wins from 41 games would've resulted in a sacking at most, if not all, other clubs. |
 | News Comment | Town Caceres Bid Rejected - Report at 19:30:47
Twenty caps for Uraguay, who are a good national team, suggests he must be a good player. If Woolfie wants away let's make it happen. |
 | News Comment | Town Confirm McAteer Signing at 14:31:15
Transfer fees are now ridiculous. £11.5 million for a decent but not outstanding player who has never been a regular starter at Leicester, and we got £10 million for Broadhead who was third choice here. It seems that if you've played in a professional league and still have all four limbs you're worth at least a million. |
 | News Comment | Palmer: We're Taking Steps in the Right Direction at 08:54:54
The "it's a new team" excuse doesn't really sit well with me. The teams that started our two league games only had one player who wasn't here last season (Matusawi) and many teams with lots of new signings in the side have hit the ground running. |
 | News Comment | McKenna: We Don't Expect Azón to Join the Club This Window at 16:26:37
Why is it that when we sign players they need several weeks to reach full fitness and then more time to get used to the way we play? Sunderland had 8 new signings in the team yesterday and they beat West Ham 3 nil! |
 | News Comment | Ipswich Town 1-1 Southampton - Match Report at 14:51:59
Probably a fair result. Southampton were the better team first half and we were on top second half but neither team had much of a goal threat. Midfield still a problem. Not impressed by Matusawi. Too short, too slow and not much skill either. Taylor league one at best. A fully fit Cajuste and another midfielder still needed. Glad that new attacking players incoming because Clarke and Philogene both look like a waste of money at present. |
 | News Comment | Hutchinson Completes Forest Move at 19:36:55
Fantastic business by ITFC. £37.5 million for a player who was virtually anonymous in the Premier League. Before that he spent most of his Championship season as an impact sub, only establishing himself as a starter in the last few months. He's very talented, occasionally brilliant but very inconsistent and lightweight. I will be surprised if he's a regular starter at Forest. He needed another season in the Championship with KM's guidance. |
 | News Comment | Butcher: I'd Have Made Omari Train on His Own at 07:34:43
I agree with Butch. Omari should've been fined and made to train on his own until he is sold or apologises and commits himself to the club. I'm sure Butch wasn't serious about really making Omari train on his own for the duration of his contract, but rather letting him know that he could. |
