 | News Comment | Aston Villa 1-1 Ipswich Town - Match Report at 18:13:52
I was hopeful of a win today and if we hadn't been reduced to ten men in the first half I think we would've got all three points. A great point in the circumstances though and a big confidence boost for the winnable games against Spurs and Utd. If we continue to battle like we did today, and can create a few chances for Delap, we can stay up. COME ON YOU BLUES. |
 | News Comment | Delap: Culture Here is Excellent at 20:48:04
We don't need to worry about him leaving in the summer then because he says the culture at the club is excellent, there is a great amount of talent in the squad and the manager is incredible. So we will either stay up or he won't want to leave anyway! |
 | News Comment | Emery: Town Are Performing Well at 19:13:38
It's common sense to praise your opponents publically before the game, just in case you don't get the easy win that is expected. Hopefully the Villa players will focus on our league position and last four results, and believe that they can stroll to a win tomorrow. We're going to get another surprise win soon and it could be tomorrow. Fingers crossed. |
 | News Comment | McKenna: A Big, Big Challenge But One to Look Forward To at 18:58:05
Villa tomorrow followed by Spurs at home and Man Utd away. We will be the underdogs for all three games (which suits us) but none of them are at their best at the moment and Spurs and Utd are very vulnerable. If we're going to end our current losing streak and give ourselves a chance of staying up I believe we need to take at least four points from these three games. I have a feeling that we will win tomorrow and, if we do, we will go into the other two games with additional belief and confidence. COME ON YOU BLUES. |
 | News Comment | Ashton: If We Stay as One, We've Got a Right Swing at This at 23:27:43
A well timed rallying call from Mark Ashton. We must all stick together and demonstrate that we trust in the regime and process that achieved back to back promotions. If the fans do show that they trust Kieran and the players to get us out of the bottom three it may create the environment in which the players can achieve it. If the fans do demonstrate unwaivering support for the manager snd the players |
 | News Comment | Coventry City 1-4 Ipswich Town - Match Report at 20:29:53
The scoreline was harsh on Coventry but great to see some clinical finishing. An important win which should be good for confidence. If we keep Palmer in goal we have a chance of getting at least a point at Villa. |
 | News Comment | Town Agree Fee For West Brom Keeper at 16:49:03
With our current first choice keeper Walton injured and Muric suffering from a complete loss of confidence, we have to sign another keeper. To get one as good as Palmer and for only 2 million is great business. I don't think we've seen the last of Muric though. Although he doesn't deserve to play at the moment because he's made too many costly mistakes, we've also seen that he can be a very good goalkeeper. Also, if we tried to sell him in the summer we would get no where near the 8 million plus he cost us. He needs help and support to rebuild his confidence and I'm sure that Kieran and his staff will provide that. |
 | News Comment | Saints Unwilling to Sell Downes to Relegation Rival at 16:14:49
I'm not sure his worth 15 million but the selling club are in a very strong position in this window. We do need more energy in midfield and he would give us that so it's a yes from me. |
 | News Comment | Ipswich Town 1-2 Southampton - Match Report at 19:01:46
I posted yesterday that I had a gut feeling that if we didn't win today we would be relegated and what I saw today hasn't changed that. We dominated the game but apart from Delap's goal Ramsdale wasn't really tested. Southampton defended in numbers and offered very little going forward but scored from their only two chances. It sums up our season. We don't score enough goals and it's too easy to score against us. The only positives today were the performances of Delap and Enciso, the two Premier League players in our team. The rest are Championship players, some of which might develop into Premier League players. I am resigned to relegation now but just hope that we can come back up soon and stronger. |
 | News Comment | McKenna: I've Never Labelled a Game Must-Win at 20:22:09
We need a win desperately and Southampton are rock bottom with just six points but we only just rescued an undeserved point at St Mary's. So, although there may be plenty of games left after tomorrow (to get the points needed to stay up) my gut feeling is that if we don't win tomorrow we will be relegated. It IS therefore a must win game. I am expecting a close and nervy game but just hope that we can get all three points. |
 | News Comment | Davis: I Think It'll Be a Tasty Game at 19:53:02
It's obviously not a must win game mathematically but it's a must win game psychologically. We've got to get out of the losing habit to boost confidence and try to create some momentum for the next few games. As we've only won one home Premier League game, if we don't beat Southampton who are we going to beat? |
 | News Comment | McKenna: Difficult But Frustrating First Half at 19:01:08
Delap must be getting fed up that he sees so little of the ball. Hopefully that will change with Enciso at number 10 (if we can get the ball to him!). Thank goodness the transfer window closes on Friday! |
 | News Comment | Liverpool 4-1 Ipswich Town - Match Report at 18:17:30
At least we scored a goal at the end and it's better than losing 6 nil, but the report indicates that a lot of our defending was poor again and that Liverpool could've scored several more. I guess our confidence was (understandably) low after last weekend but not having a shot until late in the game is very disappointing. If we're going to stay up we must defend better and create more goal scoring opportunities, starting with the Southampton game. We must win really but we don't usually cope well with the added pressure of such games. As we do need all 3 points I wonder if we should play 4,2,3,1 so that Enciso can play centrally just behind Delap, with Hutchinson on the right and Broadhead or Philogene on the left. Maybe start Townsend as a more defensive left back too? |
 | News Comment | Al-Hamadi Close to Stoke Move at 12:33:35
It makes sense for both parties for him to move on, even if we don't sign another centre forward. He's no where near good enough for the Premier League and would only play if both Delap and Hirst are injured. Even then he may not start. If it is a permanent transfer I wonder what the fee will be. I was shocked to learn that he's cost us nearly 2 million in total but we were desperate to sign a striker at the time. In fairness he did score a few important goals as a sub in the Championship but at his current level he's probably League 1 at best. |
