Gillingham 0-1 Ipswich Town - Match Report
Comfortable yet not at our best, and we still manage to get a win. Lots of positives and more to come, I think.
Time to give Chambo the credit he deserves. Safe and sound on the ball, commanding and dominant without it. Man of the match along with KVY.
Squad is looking really solid - plenty of quality players yet to play a part (Keane, Bish, Lankester, Sears, etc)
Taylor: A Fantastic Exercise
Good stuff. Even though it's a "pointless" game I think it's important to have a platform for players like Dobra, El Mizouni, Wilson, Donacien, Roberts, Clements etc to play, who arent likely to feature for the first team that much. Hopefully we can progress and give these players even more matches.
The positivity continues, and that's all we can ask for.
Lambert: We Were Relentless in the Second Half
4-4-2 worked the magic today as we struggled to get some intensity and momentum going, but I wouldnt say that one up top doesn't work for that matter. Had we turned the three in midfield around and played with an attacking midfielder instead of a holding, and with a proper left winger, things would have looked different.
Let's say we play:
That's a really attacking team with potential to keep possession of the ball while having a decent shape to it. I've felt we've been exposed and run over in midfield when playing 4-4-2, and there's a reason why PL has gone away from it in the latter stages of every game so far this season. The high intensity, high press and "crazy" style of play we apply when using the 4-4-2 is great for spells of the game, but it's impossible to keep that up for 90 minutes.
Nevertheless I'm absolutely delighted with the win, and though there are issues that need to adressed, I think we can all be pleased by the fact that we pick up points while being so far away from our best. That combined with the "never say die"-mentality, makes us a really decent side, and I'm excited to see how we do once all the players are settled and back to match sharpness. Imagine this team with unfit players like Huws, Garbutt, Lankester, Sears, Nolan, Toto, Judge and Bish back to full speed.... we can also look forward to getting KVY in the team. Thought JD was poor today. Honest bloke and a decent character, but not good enough to play RB in an attacking-minded team. Good for cover, but not as a starter. Kenlock looked better when Georgiou came on.
Keane Rejoins Town
Absolutely awesome signing. Always rated this guy highly, and if he can stay fit he will be a great addition to our squad. Great in his hold up play, he’s a smart footballer and is technically gifted. Could be a good player to use behind Norwood as well in a 4-2-3-1.
Very happy with this one - seems like he’s got a decent attitude as well. COYB!
Peterborough United 2-2 Ipswich Town - Match Report
Poor display, but yet again we grind out points when performance level is beyond what we all demand. Something to build on, and I think we all would take 5 points from the first 3 games against promotion chasing opposition (whereas 2/3 were away). Lets just all calm down, stay positive while its obvious that things need to improve - and Im sure it will.
Would invest in a new LB as well. Not sure about Kenlock carrying all the responsibility by him self. And as Ive said before; 4-4-2 leaves us exposed in midfield against decent sides. I would return to 4-2-3-1 on tuesday and give Judgey a real chance. If he doesnt deliver he will be benched, and I think he could thrive under that type of pressure. Need more coming from our wingers as well. Rowe shows sparks, but not consistent enough and Edwards is too sloppy and clearly not match fit. But we’ve come through 3 hard games with a decent tally, so three wins out of the next three would put us in a good position - against really winnable teams too.
COYB - and lets remain positive.

Comments like that are so destructive, boring, useless and completely pointless. Chambo was alongside two kids and an unfit lad who just came in the door. Save your voice for saturday and back the boys.
On we go.

Decent first half, but really disappoint second. Norwood, Chambo, Rowe and Judge well below par. Woolfy and Skuse were great. Need to control games better, but its 4 points in two. On to the next.
Burton Albion 0-1 Ipswich Town - Match Report
Massive from Lambert to switch away from the 4-4-2 when it clearly didnt work at the start of the second half. We were run over in midfield, outnumbered and the distance between midfield and defence were too large. Rowe cutting in all the time made it hard for Donacien who was left isolated a lot. 4-2-3-1 gave us some possession back so fair play to Lambo for that.
Great to see that we have the ability to switch it up and use different formations. Awesome win. Woolf, Downes, Skuse, Rowe and Norwood really impressive. Everyone played their part.
Lambert: Nydam Looks to Have Dislocated His Ankle
Sorry for Tristan, and hopefully he wont be out for too long. Still struggle to see where he's likely to feature, if he's ever going to. Competition at CM is too strong and I rate Kenny above him at LB, but good for cover.
Hull Confirm Keane's Release
I am a huge fan of Keane, and consider him to be the best footballer «currently» at Town. In my opinion we must keep this lad, of course bearing in mind that the money side of it is reasonable. Great technically gifted player with fantastic vision and general understanding of the game. Seems to have an alright attitude, but his injuries are obvs a worry. For me, a strikeforce consisting of Norwood, Jackson, Harrison and Keane would be really solid, and would make a diamond formation look good. A potential line-up for next season:
I find this team exciting and with a nice balance. Of course it would be needed to get in more wide players, but this is an alternative for me. Keane could play just behind the striker/strikers too.

Dont think Chambo was particularly poor. He slipped near the end, but except that I thought he lead the line well and played safe and well. Really fed up with all the Chambo-slating.

Some absolutely outstanding individual performances today, but first and foremost a team effort of a very high standard. First half was OK - we played some intricate stuff without creating much, but WBA wasn't threatening much either. Substitution at half-time was key. Quaner has looked slow and average from the day he signed.
Fantastic work spirit from the boys. Really looked like they wanted it today, were up for it from the first second. Fans were magnificent - a huge credit to every single one travelling up there today.
So much confidence, heart and passion in this performance it made me really proud to be a Town fan. Even though Lambert hasn't turned results around, although we've only lost 1 of our last 5, I feel like he has made us play football again for the first time in ages. The atmosphere and excitement around the place is also different class, and I can actually not wait until next season although it's in league one.
I would also like to praise Luke Chambers some extra today. Maybe the player that gets the most stick from the Town fans, but we can NEVER question his commitment and dedication to the case. A fantastic ambassador on AND off the pitch. Leads by example and is really important for the team as well as the group of lads that we have. Today he was flawless. Maybe one long ball that didn't reach it's target, but my oh my how many blocks and headers did he win? Outstanding. A true captain and I would be devestated to see him leave next season. A type of lad and player we wouldn't appreciate enough until he is gone. Didn't step a foot wrong today, yet people seem to neglect it whenever he performs.
Won't turn this into a negative though, as I am really proud of the team and naturally the fans travelling up as well.
Glad to see Kenlock having a solid game. Judge yet again shows his class combined with fight and grit. Nolan looked really good, and Bishop had his moments too. Bart back to his best. Skuse really solid, also back to his usual self. Jackson looked lively and involved for the half he played as well.
Let's keep this momentum and positivity going. COYB!

Thought we were quite average. Nolan and Chalobah horrendous. Bree, Bish, Judge and Keano quite sharp. But we need to keep believing. I just love Lambos enthusiasm.
Accrington Stanley 1-0 Ipswich Town - Match Report
We were awful today, but conditions didnt help. Bishop only bright spark. Elder looked rusty.
Truly gutted to lose this. Love the FA cup but never really had a run since I started to follow Town...
