I like debating our strengths and weaknesses but bottom line is that transfer window didn't change anything in our odds for the title so the bookies at least feel we are no stronger or weaker. I realise many/most will disagree but its a statement of fact not opinion. We are title favourites and a par performance will deliver that. Another shot at the Prem is likely next season
From the comfort of my sofa it looked like yet another poorly executed window. Ashton has been able to bully clubs of similar size to us because we currently have deep pockets but in future we must improve by acting much quicker. I believe we will go up as Champions (and so dio the bookies) but when that happens we need much better recruitment than last time or we'll be back down again
It will be so interesting at the end of the season to see how many of McKennas recruits outscore Conor. My guess is not many. He is a class act and will always be welcome at Portman Road
He sat and wstched McKenna buying endless number 10's and made no complaint. His children were born in Suffolk and he really gave our club everything he had on and off the pitch.
I said 2 seasons ago that KM doesn't fancy him and got 75 down arrows. Was on the bench too many times and left tgere for too many minutes each time. McKenna was determined to play Omari as 10 and Chappers was very badly treated. My predicted return to Pompey has happened and in the Champ that is a schocking mistake by McKenna. Where are the happy clappy brigade tonight !
Our whole right flank hasn't looked good since we were last in the Championship and so far this season it still looks weak. Maybe this lad might perk up our right flank ? someone has to as left side also currently misfiring
This feels like a player driven request but he hss done nothing since arriving so its good we just move him on. Our right side has looked awful for last 12 months and that includes Omari
after an underwhelming stsrt to the transfer window this has been a very exciting 48 hours and now we have a balanced squad that looks ready to win the championship. Ashton has his halo back and now up to McKenna to deliver
Only Matusiwa has made a starting debut so far with the other 10 starters all knowing each other prety well yet so few of the blund faithful are questioning KM's statement blaming the poor start on new arrivals. That is why so many of the duscussions on here lack insight but personally I hope the keyboard warriors don't bully away those that dare pount out the emperor has no clothes. We not only need to beat Derby but we need at least 4 goals for things to look as they should.
The worst thing about this message board are the daily posters who are in uproar if anyone dare criticise McKenna. I'm nit impressed by our transfer business under McKenna and I think it strange we would pay such a large sum to a close rival who are in FFP trouble. His own fans don't rate this lad so why should we be excited ?? Unless your brain is so small you just cheer every single McKenna decision
I reject the argument that it is a 46 game season so who cares if we end up droping points to both our biggest rivals for promotion. MA and KM saw the fixture list and knew we had to move quickly to get the squad ready but didn't move quickly on any deals. we have been behind the curve all pre season and the midfield urgently needs two more as Taylor not good enough. A win today however scrappy would be amazing but I'd settle for another draw even if its another undeserved one
I got hubdreds of diwn arrows lasr season for pointing out that Hutch wasn't performing and his body language stank. The MCKenna can do no wrong bunch need to accept that he could not of got it more wrong with Omari and is left with egg on his face after his birthday present blew up in his face. For me its a positive for us that he moves on and fingers crossed the new line up performs better as a result
I just hope we don't end up panic buying again and getting stuck with dead wood we can't shift. I know recruitment isn't easy but we are favorites for promotion and a Prem sized pay rise so surely we have a pretty decent story to tell.
