Disappointed, but I'm guessing a 3-year contract was the tipping point.

With the loss of their excellent manager and probably a couple of their best players (Mbeumo?), Brentford might well be relegation candidates next season.

Hutchinson's England U21s Win Euros Opener
at 06:31:30

I hope Tuchel and the England squad were watching this U21 performance, which was so much quicker, snappier, and direct than they managed against Senegal. Hutch played well. Hope the vultures stay away.

Morsy: I Don't Think It's Momentum
at 16:35:52

To get the kind of quality we will need - especially up front - I think loans are inevitable. Hopefully, though,we can also sign a couple of others who can become our own. Best case scenario is we sign loan players, they do well, and they then sign for us and follow us up to the PL. But every other team will be competing for what is available, so we need to be realistic. COYB!

Chaplin: The Club is in a Much Better Place Than it Was a Year Ago
at 11:06:14

Linkboy: I'm not sure how you measure the size of a club. Coventry is a much bigger place than Ipswich, but I wouldn't say they were a "bigger" club. I am pretty confident now that we will keep McK, and I totally agree with you that we don't want such names as Lampard and Rooney et al. They may have been great players, but they don't seem to have any serious managerial qualities. If we get a couple of decent signings in to freshen up the squad, I'm hopeful we will be there or thereabouts next season.

Leicester City 2-0 Ipswich Town - Match Report
at 16:47:10

budgieplucker: You seem very genned up on possible new acquisitions for next season. Let's hope the club is too. Like you, I certainly wouldn't mind Christian Erikson on a short-term contract, and has anyone mentioned Cresswell, who is leaving Wet Spam after next weekend? I think we will need quite a few additions and it's going to be crucial how well this is managed.

Leicester City 2-0 Ipswich Town - Match Report
at 07:57:25

Well, I don't think there is a single positive post after this match, and perhaps that's understandable after a disappointing performance, even though we were the best team and played some quite nice football up to Vardy's inevitable goal. After that things went downhill and we didn't seem to have the quality to change that. I won't go into what or who is to blame. The important thing now is to get a SETTLED squad together for next season as soon as possible, 'cos there are going to be a lot of changes. Several are certain to depart and several more might be tempted by the newly promoted teams to continue their careers in the PL. We will need a significant re-build and hopefully a strong start. But we are Ipswich and we will rise again. COYB!

Ipswich Town 0-1 Brentford - Match Report
at 19:47:29

I think we looked like a good Championship side against a very sharp PL side. Could have been a cup match in different circumstances: intensity and a committed crowd, but with the stronger, faster team coming out on top in the end. Next season will be interesting and hopefully successful, but there are no guarantees as the team will surely have to undergo a fairly significant overhaul with several outs and hopefully a few ins as well. I'm looking forward to the challenge. COYB!

Humphreys Voted Wycombe Supporters' Player of the Season

I'm not sure players are stronger in the Championship, or in the PL for that matter, than players in Leagues 1 and 2 - faster, maybe; more skilful, certainly, but there are imposing physical specimens across all the divisions, surely?
