Prior purchase history needed for home Cov tickets

We've not chatted. And from your comment, you've not read my previous posts. Well, you've read my one comment above and decided to blow up over nothing.

Understandable.

So let me explain. I don't attend any game because of mental health problems. Otherwise, I'd be up at the CBS every home game. Like I was at Highfield Road for 20 years before 2001. But don't let facts get in the way of your faux outrage.

And I don't and have not dished out any ticketing rules. That makes it sound like I make them up for the club. As in every post I've made here, I've advised this forum on Coventry's team, history and policies.

Your fans wanted to circumvent those ticketing policies for their own gain. That is entitlement ie. "This doesn't apply to me. I can do what I want."

Where is me advising of the policy and recommending against this idea your admission of raging entitlement ?

Sorry friend. Your comment is so far off course, it's headed out to sea.

For clarification, the block next to the away fans is a segregation block, basically a tarpaulin over 1500 seats. So Cov would sit in blocks 11-13 of the extended home end.

In the Coventry forum thread that Penn mentions, there has been debate about how we can be more flexible in accommodating more or less away fans on a game by game basis.

The restricted away end was introduced in Feb for our Preston game as a trial and then reintroduced just before Easter for the rest of the season. So it wasn't going to be rescinded for yourselves. And up till last Wednesday, we still had a shot (albeit a long one) at Playoffs so could have used the extra seats ourselves. Saturday ended our hopes entirely.

I've even added a post on the Sky Blues Chat thread myself (which Penn hasn't read, I guess) wondering if and how we could add a mixed seating block for home, neutral and away fans to enter without pre-purchases with the necessary stewarding and policing to prevent problems between fans.

Sadly, this won't help Ipswich for tomorrow but as a club, we have something to think about for ourselves and our future visitors.

I am such a bastard, aren't I ? And I obviously have a direct link to the club to get them to change ticketing policy at short notice.

And in saying there would be no trouble. There may not be among the Ipswich fans. You may have the safest fanbase in the EFL but you know less about the reactions of the Coventry fans in the next block of seats.

Please check the post that you started (IIRC).

I said that I do not attend games, home or away. I don't care who sits there. If Cov had given you the entire stand, fair play.

But Coventry City chose to limit away fans and you decided our ground rules shouldn't apply to you. That's just an admission of entitlement on your part. Something I'm pleased to have seen doesn't exist in your entire fanbase.

1 CB suspended
1 backup CB injured
2 RW injured
1 DM (captain) borderline through injury (not confirmed yet)

Not sure which FB you're thinking about as our two LB are fit (but tired) and our RB is fit/tired.

The only area that pay on the gate was advertised for was the expanded home area in the South Stand.

And over the weekend, there was a thread on here about away fans wanting to use this facility to circumvent the limited capacity for away fans.

The desire for Ipswich fans to want to see their team is fully understandable but any chance of confrontation between home and away fans in the same seating area has obviously caused the club to rethink this idea.

Has anyone checked Cov’s form in the last five games?
at 11:03 29 Apr 2024

Ipswich had a 2 week break before playing Hull. Blackburn was our 3rd game in 7, including the semi-final with extra time. Simply put, we are suffering from exhaustion. Observers of the game on Saturday have all said we looked leggy.

But it's fully understandable the amount of games we've had to play in a short period. And 120 mins at Wembley, a pitch known for sapping strength, didn't help.

So to suggest we're getting ready for next season is a little disingenuous. This was supposed to be a rebuild year after all our transfers in and out last summer. But the team have done exceptionally well to have both the cup run and a push for playoffs. We're still short on players so it was always going to come back to haunt us.

Some quick suggestions

1) Eat a dozen Jalapenos or 3 Chicken Vindaloos. Sport generally will be the last thing on your mind for a while.

2) Try and solve the Financial Times crossword. It'll melt your brain enough to stop cognizant thinking.

3) Watch Kevin Costner's Dances with Wolves, the Directors Cut. So long, you'll be asleep before you get to understand the story. Ipswich will be temporarily forgotten.

Strange that last 4 or last 5 are being used.

Normally, it's last 6

So for Cov, we have W1, D2, L3.

And results don't always show form. We beat Leeds but had to defend hard for most of the second half, lost to Southampton and their Isle of Wight ref but still had most of the second half ourselves, Man United has been covered. Only Birmingham away is where we've not turned up and the thoughts are that they were thinking about a bigger game the next weekend.

So what can we actually expect from Coventry then?
at 22:53 28 Apr 2024

Kitching as said is suspended. Binks is 3rd option CB, out injured.

We could put out a first team back 4 in

DaSilva Thomas Latibeaudiere van Ewijk

Jay DaSilva is our attacking LB option, compared to Jake Bidwell, who the players call Terminator. Hasn't been called on as much as he wants so he may be the most energetic one of the back line.

Bobby Thomas has played the full 90 in all bar one of our last 10 games, and 120 mins in the semifinal. And he showed it vs Hull. Puts his heart on the line for us and we love him. But he's showing fatigue.

Lati is a utility player, can play CB, RB, DM but he doesn't look overly comfortable in any. Is sometimes used in a back 5 as the middle man. Allows us to change formation quickly and without significant substitutions. Handy player, prone to an error. Has had a fair amount of game time

Milan van Ewijk has had a lot of gametime and his energetic play style can't be helping his recovery rate.

And the subs.....

Bidwell. Oldest member of the defensive posse. But again, has been used a lot.

Dermi Lusala. U-21 player that has been on the bench a few times but never played

Josh Eccles. DM, usually partners Sheaf in midfield. Homegrown, academy graduate. Can and has played RB but it's not his favourite role and he's been used a lot in the last couple of months in midfield.

And I've had to trawl our own club site to make sure I haven't missed any one.

So yes. we are a little short defensively in the squad and the suspension, injury and attempts to mitigate exhaustion rotation are leaving us with square pegs in round holes.

Completely agree.

And it banishes any comments from other teams about "match fixing" or playing under strength teams.

We put out kids against you, the screams of indignation from Leeds, Southampton and Norwich wouldn't impact yourselves. But we'd have some serious cleanup to do after.

No worries. Just trying to lighten the mood with some humour.

Have just been reminded about a comment Robins said to local radio after yesterdays game.

He's not intending to go light. You will get the best team Coventry can put out as he didn't "want to see another team celebrating promotion in our back yard". Great motivating soundbite, I'm sure you can agree. He got it slightly wrong though. For clarification, winning or drawing with us will not promote you. Tuesday is a step forward. Your glory hour will still be Saturday at home against relegated Huddersfield.

Hope you enjoy the trip and whatever the result ends up, COYB

Firstly, I will apologise if any of that post came across as antagonistic. There was none intended. In my own defence, currently suffering with Covid (again) and have had 2 hrs sleep in the last 28.

A lot of that comment was not directed to you personally. It's a build-up based on the comments I've responded to and seen on this forum over the last 72 hrs. While I accept your take as per a neutral's view, being told repeatedly by a fan of the team you're seeking information about and still being uncertain is straining from my perspective as I don't know who has read what. Again, sorry for any misunderstanding.

And thank you.

I love to debate and discuss with someone who likes to bring figures and facts to the table. Far better than the faecal infused tripe we normally get showered with by other fanbases. And in agreement, I would say that after our struggles against Blackburn yesterday killing any faint Playoff hopes, you will see a far greater and more visible falloff than that which you have laid out. It's also on Sky so far more options to watch in comfort.

Already sounding like zero interest among season ticket holders among the members of the Coventry forum. But while those seats will look empty, we believe the club still counts the seat as being sold for the match. Which confuses the hell out of home and away fans each time.

And QPR will be a dead rubber, other that to applaud the team at the end of the season.

Finally, how do I cancel this registration ? I think today will be my last day to post as I don't want to overstay my welcome (my posts have been excessively verbose) and our paths won't cross again for a while.

It's been wonderful chatting to everyone. Hope you do get to the English Promised Land and can thrive up there.

Until the club identify the issue, I guess nothing can be that definite.

Why were Hull City
at 13:15 28 Apr 2024

Am I the only one laughing here ?

Hull's home shirt is Amber and Black stripes.

Away shirts were introduced to avoid conflicts with clubs who wear home shirts in similar colours.

So to make sure they don't accidentally clash with other orange/amber wearing clubs, they have a Orange away shirt. Wow, those black stripes must make all the difference

Players should get retrospective bans for simulation

They can and already do.

Coventry City vs Fulham 2022/23

Matt Godden was tripped/fell over and was awarded a penalty. We scored and went on to beat them 4-1. The joys of no VAR in the Championship to overrule.

Fulham complained, FA looked at it, sent it to their panel who decided he was guilty of simulation and gave him a 3 match ban.

That was Bobby Thomas, our other CB.

Kitching hasn't been on form for a while and even managed to score 2 own goals for Cardiff against us. They won 2-1 and never hit the net once themselves

Can't state strongly enough that I oppose this idea.

No vested interest as I don't go to games but....

That is designated a home area, right next to our most vocal and raucous blocks.

If you can get past the stewards (they're our landlords, not ours) on the gate (your accents may give you away), you will likely be sitting on your hands for the game. Any singing or celebrating your goals will target you as away fans by the stewards and that block.

There was a post put up on our Sky Blues Talk forum by a @MattCas24 asking for tickets earlier in the week. I'm sure you can guess that the responses weren't overly helpful in his search.

Spoken to some fine people here in my short time as member but this idea just smacks of entitlement. Something we've only seen from Leeds fans, who got the same number of tickets as yourselves.

But if you want to try, good luck.

Please update this thread on your success. Personally, I'd be interested to see how open or draconian our matchday stewards are.

Okay, time to fess up. We're holding back all our stars just so we can stand in Ipswich's way on Tuesday

Sorry, just some humour to break this repetition.

Your hope for us to roll over and fear that we're hiding something is really not doing your own team any justice. You are where you are on merit, not by worrying whether Team A, B or Z rests half their squad.

So I really don't know what to say to you. I have said time and again, we are a small squad, hampered by injuries (and now a red card suspension) and a tiring schedule yet I'm still not believed.

We will play to our best with whoever we can field, regardless of opposition.

But we were held to 50/50 possession yesterday by a struggling Blackburn.

They had 30 shots at us, we responded with 6. We had 2 keepers on the bench, one was our U-21 keeper to ensure the bench was fully loaded. Kid subbed on was a 17 yr old who was only promoted to the first team this past week.

So..

Are they 100% ? Definitely not.

Are they 60% ? Probably. You will still get a performance out of them but not for the full game or to their full ability.

Our first choice keeper made some serious errors on Wednesday against Hull yet pulled off some good saves yesterday. Our strikers were slow and ponderous after having some fight 3 days earlier.

Interesting point I've just spotted. Robins will normally make tactical subs around 60 mins. That's his time. Subs yesterday were much, much later. Whether he didn't trust the health or ability of the player coming on or he'll trying to get as much out of every one as he can.

Kelly is our vet, well over 30, rarely used. Godden, also a vet, was our go-to striker before Simms/Wright took off and has had few game minutes since. Allen has just come back from a broken cheekbone surgery and that was his first minutes since January.

I promise that I am not posting here as a joke or that I'm trying to set any one up for a fall.

Last thing about seats. Please see my diagram and explanation at the top of this thread. Where do you think there will be "a few thousand empty seats" ? Judging that you were looking at the pics from Wednesday's game, you were looking at a stand that does not have standard tickets in it. They are all pre-bought so can't just be sold ad-hoc.

Attendance against Hull was 25K. Hull were offered the full amount of 2500. They did not sell out. CBS holds 32K minus a couple of segregation zones, probably equated to 1500 or 2000 seats. This is in the stand that used to be fully away fans so there are no hard barriers erected between fans. So even if Hull had sold out, this would only leave individual seats around the home areas of the bowl which couldn't be sold to away fans anyway. Not the complete blocks that you and your fans would be hoping for.
Attendances against Leeds and Cardiff were closer to the max at 31K and 29K.

So apologies that some of your fans will miss out. It will be disappointing and the club have not done it to slight any fanbase or club. And it's caught a few clubs out. We had similar (and more aggressively entitled comments) from Leeds. But Coventry have finally decided to break the mould and look after their own at the expense of others.

Enjoy the game, however you get to see it. You will likely win. But relax if its a draw. Leeds would still have to beat Southampton whereas you have Huddersfield, already relegated Huddersfield, at home.

There was a comment on here after our game on Wednesday against Hull commenting on our empty ground.

As the pic shows, the camera only focuses on one stand which has "conditional" seating. Like most grounds, you can't force a season ticket holder to attend every game. We can't force people to join members clubs to give access to these seats. And our love-in with the media is on the down swell.

So people compare the Wembley attendance with that and come out with completely inaccurate thoughts.

Whole area is housing now.
