Near the end of the season and the pitch looks almost as good as it did against Liverpool for the opening game. The Groundstaff have done an amazing job. |

In a world where news is very carefully managed, are these pieces indicated to signal that we have every intention of holding onto O'Shea, and notice of a succession plan with Morsy? I may well be reading too much into this, but you would think that the club is now planning for the Championship next season now, and moving the wheels into motion for the next phase of the 'project'. The timing feels like more than coincidence to me.
For the avoidance of doubt this is pure speculation, and opinion on my part  |

Yes, we'll lose some - Liam Delap seems very likely to go (and help us strengthen in some areas). Signs are Tuanzebe and Burgess leave (if not, even better).
Overall however, that suggests a massively stronger squad entering the Championship this time compared to after promotion. And that's before we add a few more names - with it being likely that we can recruit more easily (relegated parachute team vs newly promoted team).
There are no guarantees, and we shouldn't be complacent, but if you look across the entire squad and the depth, we are much stronger for the next Championship than the last. [Post edited 6 Apr 12:22]

... from the usual suspects.
And yet people will ignore that for much of the game we matched an in-form team, away from home, that are pushing into the top half of the table.
Fine margins, and we could have easily come away with 3 points. A solid mid-field performance today, and some lovely interplay. Sometime it worked, and sometimes it didn't.
Yes, we've not been good enough at times this season, and have let the odd game get away from us. But at other times we've shown the promise of a team that could compete in this league. If we survive (as unlikely as it is), we have the foundations to build in this league. If we are relegated, we also have the same foundations to come back stronger. [Post edited 8 Mar 17:09]

We’re not down yet. It’s not over.
Chances are we’ll go down. So be it.

By my reckoning, we only have 23 senior players to register for the second half of the season. We have 2 out for the rest of the season, and 3 under 21s.
Does this maybe point to Ogbene staying registered with the possibility of him returning sooner than expected - this would surprise me given the injury he sustained.
If not, it does mean we have a lean squad - or maybe there are some more signings hoped for. [Post edited 31 Jan 15:39]

The ticketing site seemed very under pressure this morning. Guess there must have been very high demand.
It took me 12 minutes to even get into the waiting room this morning, with the game at first still showing as coming soon. Then when in I experienced :
* ticketing sever under maintenance
* server unavailable (500 error - so signs of it crashing)
* tickets in the basket then coming up has being ‘unexpectidly removed’
* overall running very slowly, and not very responsive
Would be fascinated to know what the potential demand for this Xmas fixate was 🙂
