His first few games he was electric, really positive player who looked a world beater. I think his problem largely stems from who is playing behind him....He linked so well with Coulson, who is rapid, keen to bomb forward and always looking to cut wide rather than inside, they looked a real threat together. I don't think either Penney or Clements allow him to play that way, Penney is so slow and sideways, he kills any forward momentum, and Clements, much like JD, doesn't venture too far forward and when he does his preference seems to be to cut inside. If we're staying disciplined with JD on the right, what's the harm in trying KVY at LB, him with Edwards in front is a potentially mouth watering prospect and surely more effective than our left hand side has been in recent times? |
 | Forum Reply | Question for anyone who's Cook Out at 09:44 24 Nov 2021
I'm not "Cook Out" as such, but I am basing my feelings on him entirely on this season. I'm not excusing his poor form last season, that was an utter shambles, but this is his team with his identity and his coaching staff. He seems to have an arrogance and a lack of respect for our opposition, he never really tailors our team to suit who we're playing, insisting that his players and playing style will win over anybody, which simply isn't the case. His style of play requires flying full backs, wingers hugging the touchline and the number 10 to really sit in just behind the striker, it was clear from the starting 11 yesterday that we didn't have the players for this, yet we still tried to play the same way, with obvious results. No width, no movement, no drive and aside from Morsy and Edmundson we are incredibly lightweight. We lump it up to Bonne to flick on at every opportunity but last night he was well and truly shackled, never managed to get in front of his man and even if he could there was nobody around him, it was just ridiculous. Stuff like this lands squarely on Cook and his (in my opinion, woefully inexperienced and inadequate) coaching staff. I really hope he can turn it around and get this team at the very least competing consistently. If not I fear he may not last much longer. Over the last 10 years we've kept numerous managers well beyond their time and now with this new level of investment, the fans back on side and season ticket sales through the roof I think the new owners will be ruthless, the last thing they want is the fans turning on them this early. |

I'm really glad to see them up there and challenging for Europe again, I think they invested wisely after their title winning team got picked apart. Rodgers is a great manager and that midfield is something pretty special. Barnes is an exciting player and it's amazing that players like Vardy, Evans, Schmeichel and Albrighton still perform so consistently. |

I'd have to say Chambo. It's between him and Dozzell for most consistent but LC just tips it for me. If Wilson continues his run of form though it's got to be him, we've looked so much more secure with him in the team and it's no surprise that we're looking a threat from set plays with him in the side. I do find it worrying that we're struggling to find any attacking players who have been anything better than bang average this season. Bishop started brightly but tailed off, Edwards looked sharp but got injured, Judge has only just started coming good and Norwood needs another 5-6 games. One of them at least needs to really step up now and help us push on. |
 | Forum Reply | Can Cook tweak the attack effectively to get the 3 points we should secure? at 11:21 12 Mar 2021
I can't see Cook wanting to make too many changes, but, I think he'll have seen enough to realise that there is a big disconnect between our defence and attack. I'd love to see Matheson come in, he's looked sharp when he's played and his energy on the right would certainly offer us an attacking edge that Chambers doesn't. I can see Chambers moving across to CB with Toto missing out. If available, a 3 of Jackson, Judge and Edwards behind Norwood sounds pretty exciting, provided they get decent service. I'm pretty optimistic for this game, we've certainly got a team capable of winning comfortably, hopefully Cook will have instilled some confidence in them this week and we can start climbing the table! |
