RobsonWark. I don't remember a footballer named Corbynite. I'm old enough to remember Jimmy Leadbetter on the left wing. |
| News Comment | EFL Matches Postponed as Mark of Respect at 12:12:54
Completety OTT. Wouldn't it have been better to allow those who wanted to to have been allowed to have shown their respect inside the grounds? Plus there will be financial implications for many individuals as a result of the postponement.. |
| News Comment | EFL Pay Tribute to Queen as Weekend Fixtures to Be Discussed at 21:31:24
joyousblue I'm also very upset by the passing of Her Majesty. However, I'm at a loss to see what would be gained by postponing football matches at the weekend, thereby depriving countless individuals the opportunity to show their respect inside the stadia. My father sadly passed away five years ago and going to Portman Road was, at that time, the last thing on my mind. I will, by the way, be going to work tomorrow as usual. |

Thanks Bert for your views. I couldn't agree more. Things are not great by any means but it's a whole lot better than in the recent past so give PH a chance for goodness sake. All the negative commentators on here will consider themselves to be realists no doubt but it's still early days. Give the man a chance. |

And there I was thinking Lawrence was heading for a move to one of the lesser lights in the Premiership. |
| News Comment | Huddersfield Town 2-0 Ipswich Town - Match Report at 17:21:48
Nice post from renoble. I've been watching matches at Portman Road since the Alf Ramsey days. I hate the current 'football' on show. I love and dislike Ipswich Town in equal measures and can't imagine a time when I'll stop going. You wouldn't go to the cinema once a fortnight if the reliable reviews told you the film you were about to watch was sh-t. Football is different but I would love to be entertained once in a while. |

Good luck to him. Very talented player in his earlier days and I really wanted him to rediscover his ability here. Pity. |
| News Comment | Town 1-1 Blackburn Rovers at 18:11:35
Disappointed obviously. Sad to witness an appalling performance by a referee from the D'urso school. Whilst Town have to reflect on the loss of another two points you know that refereeing like that can ultimately cost gour team. Sour grapes? |
| News Comment | Titus Bramble in Squad Against Gills at 20:33:00
MM achieved a minor miracle last season and probably knows what he's doing. Everyone is entitled to an opinion and clearly all those who post their negative messages about a player who has made over 300 premier league appearances must have better incite into the world of football than MM - obviously. |
| News Comment | McCarthy: It Was a Robbery at 22:04:45
It's worth pointing out that when MM took over we had played 13 league matches in which we had gained seven points! MM's 28 league matches have seen us achieve 46 points, an average of 1.64 points per game which betters Crystal Palace's season average of 1.61 points per game and they're currently in fourth place. I think MM has done a fantastic job and perhaps there is cause for genuine optimism for a change. |
| News Comment | Bristol City 2-1 Town at 21:53:20
Although recent home draws against Peterborough, Bristol City and Barnsley and the comprehensive defeat by Brighton are disappointing results today's failure is reminiscent of what was endured time and again under Keane and Jewell. Being hammered at Palace and Leicester was not unexpected and nowhere near as painful as the old story of losing a lead, missing good chances and conceding a winning goal to pretty ordinary opposition. My faith in Mick McCarthy remains strong and I'm sure today's performance will amply demonstrate the size of the task ahead of him, as if he was ever in any doubt, and I hope we can move on from today. Looking at the fixtures page on this site I note that Lee Martin was named Man of the Match in last week's game against Barnsley. Is that an opinion to be taken seriously? |
| News Comment | Town 1-1 Barnsley at 19:57:38
Clearly Mick McCarthy has done a great job in the short time he's been here and all Town fans should be grateful for that. Personally I think we were lucky to get a point today and it wasn't just Harewood who missed clear chances for Barnsley and I can say only one thing to those who have criticised Edwards and Martin - I agree with you. |
| News Comment | Lee's Link With Blues Legend at 09:56:32
Great to see Lee Martin playing so effectively, keep it going! For me, Billy Baxter was a wonderful player, I'm old enough to recall his time with Ipswich and I'd put him a close second behind Kevin Beattie as Town's greatest-ever player and it's almost unbelievable that Baxter never got to play for Scotland when others from Rangers and Celtic who weren't fit to lace his boots were regulars! Sadly Billy's career at Portman Road ended after an unsavoury clash with the great Sir Bobby Robson but these things can happen. Obviously Town have been lucky enough to have had a host of great players since Baxter and Beattie but third on my list, and I'm not forgetting Warky, Mariner, Mills, Hunter, Holland, Muhren and Thijssen, would be Marcus Stewart for what he did for us in the relatively short time he was here. R.I.P. Billy Baxter. |
