 | News Comment | McKenna: Barnsley Will Go at Us With Everything at 14:46:03
So, so nervous and excited about this game - can't concentrate on anything else today!! Great to have so much at stake at this stage of the season for once - just a shame that we are not 8 points clear at the top that we could so easily have been..... Go well tonight boys and then hopefully we can have a proper party at FPR on Saturday. COYB! ITID |

This is a fantastic result for us and one that I really was not expecting. All up for grabs again now - we just need to keep doing what we've been doing and not get carried away by the improving situation, but I'm sure KM will be keeping everyone on track. COYB!! ITID |

Absolutely right ArnieM. Our tight knit play off winning squad went from finishing 5th in the Premier League (Europe!!) to 18th (Champoinship....) over the course of one season. This happened after the TEAM was disrupted by a few 'big' signings that changed the dynamics, spirit and togetherness of the squad. The importance of everyone being totally on board, pulling in the same direction and fighting for each other is sooooo undervalued. At the same (with hindsight exactly the wrong) time the club invested tens of millions in expanding the ends of the ground leading to administration and a firesale of the squad when we got relegated. Marcus Evans arrived to 'save' us and the rest of the last 15 years is now hopefully history...... Over that time the gap between the resources in Premier League and the rest has got bigger and bigger making it almost impossible to bridge now - with some notable exceptions that allow hope to live on. Hopefully KMc can be one of those amazing managers that can help us to bridge that gap and take our club back to where it belongs. COYB ITID |

Thought Cook's comments after the Shrewsbury game were spot on, but it sounds like that habit of taking the foot off the gas and losing concentration has emerged again. Gee 'em up at half time PC - get them playing on the front foot again and put the game to bad in good time. COYB! |

Would really like us to kill teams off at this level - not give them a way back into the game and the encouragement to push on...... COYB! |

I must admit I was not particularly excited about MB when he joined us in the summer and thought that Joe Piggott was going to be much more important to us....... he's definitely proving me wrong so far. Keep it going MB and hopefully JP can make an impact at some point too. Onwards and upwards - COYB |
 | News Comment | Ipswich Town 1-2 West Ham U21s - Match Report at 22:09:45
What is going on with our club? The players in our squad really are not this bad (and I don't think last season's squad was either) but the performance of the team has not been up to what the players should be able to produce for years now. There must be some really deep rooted problem for the old squad and the new squad not to be able to put out a team that has an idea of what it is actually trying to do to win a football match. Surely that must be down to the management setting them up and drilling them with some plan and tactics about what we are trying to do??? Can Cook do it without his old no. 2 - doesn't look like it........... |

There is a player in there, but too frustrating for a number of managers to stick with him any longer. Saw him in a 23s match where for the first 30 mins everything he did went horribly wrong and his head was clearly not in it at all. Then he switched on and scored a wonder goal running from his own half, past most of their team before a fantastic finish. Seemed to sum up his ITFC career in half an hour. Good luck with the next phase in your career BC (and thanks for the vox pop on KoA - always makes me smile) |

Just deluded really - you don't get in the top 2 if you don't even turn up to matches. Tonight was pitiful, I really think I could have played as well as most of our players tonight...... |

How disappointing was that? I know Cook hasn't been here very long and he has made a great first impression, but that was a gutless display. Out-fought and out-thought in every aspect of the game. Back to slow and ponderous keep ball in our own half. None of the players seem to be able to look up the field and try to find a team mate with a forward pass. Big job in front of him - welcome to Portman Road Mr Cook!! |

Best wishes to Karl's Dad. Your positivity in the face of adversity is truly inspirational. I hope you get to see a rejuvenated team succeeding next season. Keep the faith. As for the ST offer this looks pretty fair to me. I would have renewed anyway as I am enjoying the change in approach on all fronts (results yet to come.....) that PL has brought to the club so far. The summer is huge with whatever coming and going happens, but I believe he is the man to take us forward. ME just has to give him the support that he wants. |

Saxonblue has this right. We really aren't and never have been a 'big' club. Our amazing history came about through eras when we punched way above our weight through superlative management by Ramsey, Robson and Burley who all got the blend in their teams just right. Mick Mills talks about the importance of getting recruitment right and he is spot on. We have never bought big name players - our success was built on spotting gems and polishing them up. For example Paul Mariner came from Plymouth, Kevin Beattie, Terry Butcher, Russell Osman came through the youth set up, Matt Holland came from Bournemouth (who were way lower then) David Johnson came from Bury Town. Who had heard of Arnold Muhren or Franz T before they were recruited? All fantastic players to name just a few. We need to get back to being good at blending our own best youngsters with smart recruitment (much as they have done up the road........ didn't they sell their most valuable asset last summer and now look like they're going to win the league..... 😣) Paul L feels to me like he is the first manager we've had for a long time that is going to try to get as close to this way of doing things that the modern game will allow, and for me this is the approach that a club of our stature needs to follow to deliver sustainable success. Our club is at the lowest ranking I have known in 40+ years of support, but I still feel more positive now than I did two years ago when the MM era was literally going nowhere and we were stuck in a rut. Post match yesterday the connection between PL and the fans was cemented as we sang our hearts out to our team that had been relegated. I'm not ashamed to admit I had tears in my eyes. If we get our approach right again, and I think PL is on the right lines, we can come back from this stronger. ITID |
 | News Comment | Ex-Palace Chief Jordan Blasts Blues Owner Evans at 18:58:41
The Burley era went wrong when he thought we needed to spend to maintain our position near the top of the Premier League. The first season in the PL was mainly the squad that won the play offs and they were a tight group that had already been through a lot together and took the PL by storm. Bringing in new faces on big money that were actually no better than what we had disrupted that unity and we were never the same again, going from 5th to 18th in one season, then the inevitable financial meltdown from which we have never recovered. Hopefully Paul Lambert can rebuild us and recreate that unity through a successful season in L1 and carry that momentum back into the Championship where we can compete once more. |
 | News Comment | Lambert: Wait and See What Happens at the End of the Season at 22:46:30
Really hope this is not what it seems. PL has not improved results but anyone who actually watches the matches can see that he's improved the performances and undoubtedly the feel and atmosphere around the club. He's had to work with the cards he was dealt and just one transfer window in which he had limited funds and the proposition of joining a team adrift at the bottom of the table. Surely we're no going to get rid before giving him a real chance to show what he can do? If he has a better offer from elsewhere that could be a completely different story though........... |
