Fair play to McKenna, I get it. Two away games coming up and we have looked leggy the last two games

BUT

Winnable game to get into the qtrs of a domestic cup. Feels like a big missed opportunity

Hirst has massively earnt a few beers tonight
at 18:32 11 Mar 2023

Worked his arse off, constantly fought off two absolute units at the back with zero protection from another dreadful ref and scored a great goal.

Fell to the ground absolutely spent on 70 odd minutes.

Hats off George!

.....who wore a pre-match shot from Hirst right in the face is ok. It looked very nasty and she looked pretty shaken

Hirst & the other club reps on the pitch were great in the aftermath, so credit to them

I hope she's ok

I really hate criticising players, but....
at 18:03 12 Feb 2022

....with the benefit of a few games to judge, Bakinson is dreadful. I'm so sorry, but he is. Its really tough to disappear in a game playing centre midfield but he gives it a bloody good go! So lucky that Morsy compensated for him otherwise we would've been in trouble

Played so well today, just lacked a little bit of quality with the final ball. We all deserved a win, fans & players

We can only pray that Ashton & Co know what the hell they're doing....
at 22:20 7 Dec 2021

Sacking Cook will be pointless if we end up with one of the dross that seem to be dominating the current rumour mill

Has to be an ambitious, eye-catching, well-researched appointment.

If its just the next uninspiring bloke off the managerial merry-go-round, I can't see Ashton making many self-congratulatory walks in front of the away end anymore

Last Night
at 10:21 18 Aug 2021

Thoroughly depressing last 30 mins where we were totally bullied by a team who'd offered nothing at all to worry us beforehand.

Lack of cutting edge has been stark in every game so far. Edwards apart, no-one seemed to want to run at defenders, happy to recycle possession and play the "safe" pass....which all too often was sideways or backwards when in advanced positions.

Edwards looks awesome; Piggott's touch and hold up play was excellent; Burgess was very good, as was Harper until he ran out of gas; Bonne ran himself into the ground but his miss probably cost us the game sadly

Assume Donacien played to give us extra aerial protection from their set pieces....in which case, why didn't Holy play? Hladky looked swamped from those long throws

Huge irritations: they guy took about a minute over every long throw (and there were plenty of them in the second half) but just 5 mins injury time?! Ref and lino at our end were appalling 2nd half; why leave it until 75 mins to make a sub when a few of our lads were out on their feet 10 mins beforehand? And then bring Jackson on?!

Still think we will be fine but we do look a bit of a soft touch and quite easy to defend against. A bit more tempo would be very welcome

A12
at 18:42 10 Aug 2021

In my excitement at getting back to PR, I'd forgotten what a complete arsehole of a road the A12 is. Almost did for me on Saturday and will definitely make me miss k/off tonight. Apologies for the rant....this is the most relevant place to let off steam!

Apprehensive about tonight
at 12:04 15 Dec 2020

Fortunate enough to get 3 tickets in the ballot for myself and my two sons. Been going to PR for over 40 years and have never had such a weird sense of anticipation before a game.

Excited to be back there again; Fearing the worst performance/result wise; Uncomfortable at the prospect of the fans' reaction to Lambert should the worst happen

As much as I'm utterly fed-up with Evans and his behaviour, and hugely unimpressed by Lambert over a long period of time, the public haranguing of individuals never sits comfortably with me. I suspect that a smaller number of dispersed fans will make that bad atmosphere feel worse and more personal. I know its the only meaningful way of people making their feelings heard but I go tonight with an unusual sense of foreboding.

Wasn't it great when we could go to a match anticipating only the football??

Just got home......Lambert needs to be some sort of magician doesn't he??!
at 23:40 27 Oct 2018

Great day as always at the Wall, but jesus we are a poor, poor side. Our last three games have been just dreadful - struggling to think of anything similar in c.40 years of following our team (and there has been a LOT of sh1t!!)

What was up with Knudsen today??! He was utterly awful

Lambert is a decent option
at 22:45 25 Oct 2018

Obvs accepting his past, Villa were a sh1tshow, he did well at Blackburn (who were also a sh1tshow) and walked away; did the best he could at Stoke (which was also a sh1tshow).

So he's walking into another sh1tshow (which he also did at Norwich), he has a materially weakened squad relative to MMs but will at least not be tied to playing expensive failures in the hope they will eventually come good and justify your judgement. He will probably realise an international class left back is a better option than a League Two right back playing left back

Pragmatism over Project....and about bleedin time

Nothing we don't know already but courtesy of Loft for Words match report.....
at 21:47 21 Oct 2018

".....the eye-poppingly abysmal standard of the opposition....."

".....to be honest, with Toto Nsiala at centre back for the hosts looking like he could be confused for hours by somebody waving a shiny piece of paper around, I reckon Rangers could have picked anybody out of the crowd and caused Ipswich problems. Heā€™s got a touch like my shed."

".....whose feet were too quick for Nsiala (to be honest itā€™s hard to think of a land mammal whose movements wouldnā€™t be too quick for Nsiala)ā€¦."

And to sum it all up:

"Ipswich were unusually woeful, and oddly decided to try and remedy this by taking their best player, Edwards, off. Ward, whoā€™s caused us problems for Town and Rotherham before, completely anonymous. The worst team weā€™ve seen this season by a thousand miles. Too many changes all at once, too many players being asked to step up divisions at the same time with too few experienced players around them, not enough players in the key areas of the pitch who are up to the standard of this league, all combined with rock bottom confidence and a wide open tactical set up. They look bang in trouble"

Sad days indeed

Enough now
at 17:00 20 Oct 2018

I really hoped Swansea was a turning point, the whole team put a real shift in. Today was the polar opposite...we are back to Keane/Jewell hopelessness. This cannot go on, we were a directionless mess today.

Sad days. But clearly no action will be taken until Xmas when we'll be 10 pts adrift at the bottom.

Evans, you will soon have the League One team you appear to have been preparing for all summer

Got to love football, got to love ITFC
at 20:13 6 Oct 2018

Rarely have I travelled away with so little hope or expectation. Felt like a massive waste of a Saturday.

Several hours later, couldn't have enjoyed the day more. Found a very pleasant, accommodating, friendly pub for myself and the kids (pre & post match), amazing win and fantastic unity btw players and fans during and after the game.

Swansea were a very good side, very easy on the eye. But we always carried a threat on the counter and for once, took our chances (exc Freddie's early one - just shoot Fred!!)

Honourable mentions to Toto, Sears, Edwards.....but probably wrong to single out people. Everyone put a shift in. Felt sorry for Penno agst their left winger.....he was lightning. Still, what a day. COYBs !!

Feel sorry for Jackson
at 22:08 2 Oct 2018

Made as good a fist of being isolated and getting zero service as could have been expected...yet gets hooked rather than Ward or Nolan. Go figure.

Nolan must have compromising pictures or something. Chalobah quality, Nsiala too, Sears looked lively....first half properly atrocious. ā€œFast startā€ Paul? Really??!

I think heā€™s winging it and hoping something comes off at some stage. Swansea feels like a helluva long and wasted trip already. No obvious straws to clutch at sadly
