Good signing in my opinion. Personally don’t care that he is signed from Norwich. Technical and perfect for the pivot role. Significantly strengthens the midfield. I wonder if Jack Taylor might be sold.
Things that are wrong: the tactics do not produce enough good goal scoring opportunities : the manager cannot adapt his tactics during the game: we need a finisher: the team have zero confidence: there appears to be a lack of leaders in the team.
Sometimes players need to hear a new voice that takes them in a different direction with new ideas. To be fair to KMc he must be low on confidence himself given the shocking run of results.
A previous work colleague is a LCFC season ticket holder (he has my sympathy).
His assessment of McAteer is ‘ he is average but a change of coach and environment could do him good. Got some talent and works hard but not premiership level. But players develop at different ages so you never know. Certainly not catastrophic that he has left. We need the money to avoid points deductions!’
He sounds very Burns-like. Lots of energy and drive. Fingers crossed he turns out to be a good addition.
Not good enough. If this happens we must be getting desperate.
Time is ticking by and there is so much to do. I am far from confident.
Still no proper left back cover (yes Greaves, Johnson and at a push Young can play there but that detracts from the side ); we must bring in a quality CM ; have to bring in a first choice RW and a quality 9 is a must. Surely that is our minimum requirement?
Beginning to think the purse strings are tight as the main reason we can’t get deals over the line.
Going on strike and letting down the team will forever be a part of his legacy. Talent will only ever take you so far. Personality traits including integrity , loyalty and teamwork are things he lacks. Good riddance.
Mom George Hirst. Led the line brilliantly. Otherwise a dismal performance. But we showed grit and never say die attitude and when you don’t play well at least find a way to get something out of the game.
I just knew this would happen. One of the aspects of modern football that I despise as well as all the badge kissing bullsh1t. There is no loyalty.
Well done KMac for not losing the plot. Get the max profit for him and get rid. Let’s hope he goes to Brentford and we pass them on the way up next year.
In reality it seems that any delay in this transfer has been caused by Villa refusing to let him go until they had a replacement. Frustrating but we would probably do the same especially in a tricky January transfer window. It really is a case of dominoes falling into place. There have been a lot of unfair comments about the lad questioning his commitment to join us. We need to get right behind him and cheer him on. Bottom line is he is a very talented young footballer that will improve the starting 11.
By my estimate he will be a top Premier league player. Huge ceiling. Very young but considering his trajectory relative to game time will reach his potential especially factoring in KMcK's coaching. I would be very surprised that LFC would agree to sell. If they do then any deal (to us or another club) likely to include a hefty sell on and buy back clause.
The club would only take this step as a last resort. I’m afraid however it does reflect poorly on our professionalism. A combination of injuries to players and a definite lack of signings have put us in this position. We desperately need to get players in.
This is a good idea 👠it can only create a positive feeling and help lift the team. Vocal support is vital.
As a 9 and 10 year old kid I use to go and watch Stoke City (my local team back in the day). The atmosphere generated by the fans was electric and I am in no doubt that helped the team punch above its weight.
Then in the mid 1970's I had the chance to go and watch Ipswich at Portman Road (extended family lived in the Town). Watching Sir Bobby's team was a privilege and even as a youngster I recognised the style of football was something very special (and I have supported them ever since).
The only downside was the atmosphere generated within the ground. It was unbelievably quiet in comparison to that generated at the old Victoria Ground in Stoke 'on a wet Wednesday night'.
Wait until the close season and then review decision over a new contract. Key will be can he stay fit and get regular game time. Always been a good passer of the ball.
