Town to Introduce Singing Section
at 08:01:11

This is a good idea 👍 it can only create a positive feeling and help lift the team. Vocal support is vital.

As a 9 and 10 year old kid I use to go and watch Stoke City (my local team back in the day). The atmosphere generated by the fans was electric and I am in no doubt that helped the team punch above its weight.

Then in the mid 1970's I had the chance to go and watch Ipswich at Portman Road (extended family lived in the Town). Watching Sir Bobby's team was a privilege and even as a youngster I recognised the style of football was something very special (and I have supported them ever since).

The only downside was the atmosphere generated within the ground. It was unbelievably quiet in comparison to that generated at the old Victoria Ground in Stoke 'on a wet Wednesday night'.

Luongo: I'm Enjoying Every Minute of It
at 16:01:21

Wait until the close season and then review decision over a new contract. Key will be can he stay fit and get regular game time. Always been a good passer of the ball.

Bishop is a proper handful and a good finisher. If we miss out on promotion this season then I think he would be a good singing for next season.

Bristol Rovers 0-0 Ipswich Town - Match Report
at 22:06:28

Well this result is absolutely no surprise. We have been in terrible form for months. I wanted McKenna to be a success but it's just not going to happen. Tactically he has no plan B and I don't think the players are motivated with him in charge. We will not make the play offs without a change. To see another season slip away after all that investment and positivity is just gutting ....

McKenna: Evans to Miss Out, Burns and Luongo Back in Training and to Be Assessed
at 16:07:17

Im happy to have Humphreys and Morsy in midfield though I suspect the latter could do with a rest.

The issue is looking ahead for the rest of the season. Much of our midfield is injury prone. Has Luongo started and finished a game yet ? We bought Ball and Camara when both were injured (maybe Ball was recovering) and it's unclear if either will be fit to return before the end of the season. Evans has a history of getting injured. All good players in their own right but that's of little consequence if they are unavailable.

It's a high risk strategy to have so many injured / injury prone players in the same position.

Fingers crossed a few get back to match fitness quickly.

Joyousblue - I fully respect your loyalty. It is admirable. However supporters are entitled to their opinion.

The drop off in form and points is nothing short of alarming.

By every factor (resources, support, stadium, facilities etc) it is entirely reasonable to expect ITFC to be successful this season. What does that look like - promotion or as a minimum the play offs .

I share your view and definitely do not want to see the manager replaced at this time. In fact even if we don't get promoted this season I would be inclined to give him next season as well.

But we do need to some improvement this season.

Cambridge United 1-1 Ipswich Town - Match Report
at 17:36:51

I really hope in the post match interview with the manager that he starts to tell some home truths about the under performance of the players. They need a rocket up their ar@e.

Please don't start whinging about how much we deserved to win and start quoting possession stats or how the ref robbed us as frankly Im getting embarrassed with it.

Secondly a change of tactics has been needed for some time. That doesn't mean hoof ball but we can be more direct and for the love of God encourage our creative players to run at the opposition and get early balls into the box. This near obsession with tiki-taka style football is achieving nothing. We aren't Barcelona !

Whinge over. Had to vent my spleen.

No leadership, no balls, error prone, mentally weak. Spending lots of cash on lots of players does not enhance teamwork or endeavour. Let's see what the second half brings.

Dire. The tactics just don't work. They haven't worked for a while.

It must be time to try something new. This will be the manager's first real test.

Personnel wise get Broadhead and Hirst playing together ASAP rather than fannying about and having one on the bench. That way they can form an understanding and hopefully start scoring goals.

Same at the back get Clarke in ASAP.

Town Closing in On Clarke Signing

This is a very good signing. Possibly the best of this window. I would expect one of the central defenders to be sold or loaned out to balance the squad numbers.

Hladky to replace Walton. We have to give him a run in the side. He just might step up. And we must buy a quality central defender that has leadership skills and can organise the back line and keep them focussed for the whole game. Frankly we are so fragile mentally at the back it's embarrassing. All is not lost yet. Keep the faith.

Town Complete Broadhead Signing
at 21:42:27

Does anyone know if he plays as a 10 or primarily a 9 ? I would think he will start alongside Hirst (who is an out and out striker) playing in one of the 10 positions where his pace and skill will cause problems. Having both in the side should certainly improve our goal output. Looking forward to them causing Plymouth all sorts of problems.

McKenna: No New Signings on the A12
at 16:42:50

Reading this article I see that the Wolves winger Corbeanu has returned to his club following an ankle injury. Lets hope that has brought our interest to an end. I don't want us to sign any more players that are injured, not match fit or have a history of getting injuries.

Its still early days in this transfer window but the games start coming thick and fast so the sooner we get new additions through the door the quicker they can get familiar with tactics and team mates.

Onwards and upwards !

Town Target Everton Striker Broadhead
at 13:30:10

I think I would rather have Connor Wickham for 6 months with an option to extend his contract. He is fresh off the back of a very good first half of the season, has tonnes of experience, has strength to hold up the ball to bring others into play, is a good header of a ball in both boxes and is in rich goalscoring form. His connections with the Club can only help.

Town Taylor Move Active as Whittaker Pilgrims Loan in Question
at 12:55:30

We always seem to get turned over by Posh in any transfer dealings. At least we now have a professional setup when it comes to our transfer business . Even so I would be very surprised if we get a deal done for Taylor for £1M. Is he worth more than that ? Im not so sure.

Buying Whittaker would be amazing but I think even less chance of getting this one over the line. His form will have alerted teams from the Championship capable of offering a larger fee and better terms. It does sound like the Swans are ready to sell him which seems odd to me given his form. Also when you factor in loyalty (am I being naive) and what he is achieving at Plymouth will he really want to make the move to one of their biggest opponents in the same season ?

I think it most likely that we will do other business. However all that said I hope Im wrong.

Blues Linked With Palace Forward

Box to box we are excellent. Our possession stats speak for themselves. However in both boxes we are lacking something. In my opinion to improve we need two first team players. A central defender and a striker. Quality rather than quantity for me.

Camara Facing Months Out After Further Surgery
at 16:34:48

Our transfer business this season has largely been positive. One issue for me has been a tendency to buy players that are unfit / not playing / injured. Dom Ball was one and Panutche is another. It presents a real risk especially when they play in broadly the same position. And now we are having a look at Massimo who falls into the same category.

Ipswich Town 0-1 Colchester United - Match Report
at 22:34:53

Why do we insist on playing with three central defenders for every single game ? Even against technically poor teams who have little or no intention of playing attacking, expansive football. Tactically it is defensive minded and passes the initiative to the opposition. This is especially so when the midfield players are grafters rather than creators or regular goalscorers (Ball, Evans , Morsy , Harper , El Miz ) and when the wing backs are converted full backs (Burns being the exception). Yes we need a striker but without a change in tactics I am not convinced it will make a lot of difference as we simply don't have enough players that can stick the ball in the back of the net.
