Oldegold Sorry, I meant to give you a positive mark not negative - a bit of a stutter on my keypad! As a teenager watching Town in the 1970s I saw Viljoen many, many times. A fine dependable player. Fond memories (apart from the pre Cup final match at Villa Park - their minds were totally on the final). |

My brother, not a football fan but exiled to the north east since the 1970s, saw it last week in Newcastle & recommended it to me. He says lots of the geordie audience were unhappy as they thought it was too pro Ipswich. |

Mick, FYI you are leaving us in relegation form. Just as Roy Keane and Paul Jewell did. |

Being very careful what I wish for, I would prefer not to have an established serial failure like Pardew, Hoofroyd, or McLaren. They are not safe pairs of hands by any means. I'd rather take a chance on any up and coming manager in a lower league who would be excited by the chance to manage a bigger club. There are plenty of 'old hands' around Portman Road with managerial experience who could assist. I'd like a fresh face. Yes, it might fail, but so did the aforementioned, and very expensively in each case. |

I quit my season ticket last year so I won't make a personal comment. This is from the Guardian. It says it for me and many others: 4) Ipswich's FA Cup glory days firmly in past Forty years ago this May, an exhausted Roger Osborne was helped from the Wembley pitch after scoring an FA Cup final winner for Ipswich against Arsenal. That day will never be forgotten at Portman Road but the same cannot be said for what passes there nowadays. Ipswich's limp third‑round defeat against a second-string Sheffield United team brought their eighth successive exit at this stage, many of them avoidable, and what a disservice this seems to a club that used to gleefully exchange punches with anyone. Those days are long gone. They have little chance of re-entering the Championship play-off pack and it is verging on open-secret status that Mick McCarthy, who has gone from local hero to figure of disproportionate vitriol, will depart in the summer. The club are dogged by a lack of money and imagination; their shocking form in a competition that brought them international renown is a handy analogue for their decline under Marcus Evans's ownership. Whatever one thinks of MM there is absolutely no need for this tirade of foul language. He is the public face of ITFC. Shameful. Posters are rightly requested not to post bad language on this site as children might read it. Shame that MM doesn't realise this. |

Seasider, spot on. Each time we seem to have players around whom we can build we seem to lose them. Our club is not alone in this, as I know supporters of other clubs feel the same. I sincerely hope that we can keep the good kernal of the current team and build on it. |

As someone who hasn't renewed this season for the first time, It's taken me a while to consider my response to this. I'm really glad that the loyalty of those folk who have renewed has at least been acknowledged. I hope that it's the first step in a positive direction. What I will say is that the nature of this 'voucher to spend at the company store' offer is symptomatic of the drift of the club away from the community. You can only redeem this £10.00 at PR, so it's straight back into the ME empire, not currency you can spend anywhere. I wonder on match days this year how many small businesses around Ipswich will suffer from the ticket price hike and the loss of gate at PR. Even in my own small case there will be beers at the Cricketers, fryups at Jacey's, pizzas at Lloyds Ave on a Tuesday. |

It is as I suspected. Milne and the board over-ruled and it can only be by one man. It's a complete dictatorship a la Oyston, Venkys etc who are completely alienated from their fanbase. Micks Zzz is, as usual, spot on. Timmy H, another reason for Huddersfield's success is that they are owned by a local fan who cut season ticket prices last year and got the town watching them and supporting them. They have a true 12th man and a tremendous feel good factor. |

Early days yet, but all the early indications are of yet another 'summer rebuild' that consists of the use of sledge hammers and crowbars and not the careful judicious use of bricks and mortar. Bart has struck me as being more than a brick on which we should build, he has struck me as a foundation stone. If he goes, we sell (as with Cresswell, Mings and Murph) one of our foundation blocks. |

NVB John - nice very drol, I'd just like my voice to the heartfelt wish for a triumph of product over packaging for the 2017-18 season. |
| News Comment | Milne: Massive Rebuilding Over the Summer at 20:41:28
Exactly the same spiel as last year. I trusted them then but sadly experience dictates that I should now do otherwise.. As for rebuilding the squad, didn't MM say that his side of 2016/17 were his best ever ITFC squad? Where does the truth lie in all of this? The squad does need rebuilding, but much, much more importantly there is zero credibility for the current regime among a sizeable section section of the fanbase. How that credibility is rebuilt is beyond me. |

Bluescholes, Dorset, I respect your views but please don't call me a 'rude moaner'. Any criticism I have made I feel is well founded and in line with many who sat around me for years before I started my boycott last September. (At least 2 of these guys had held season tickets since the mid seventies, and I understand that they have not renewed either. Though I have not renewed I remain a shareholder. I really, really hope that things change and that joi d'vivre returns to Portman Road, & the stance I have taken has not been easy. l simply feel that my continued support for the current regime will only further damage the club. If you want regime change then you have to withdraw your support for that particular regime. It is the regime and not the club from which I have withdrawn my support. |
