If we continue to progress as we are I fear this anger might become more common for you. Modern football, well sport as a whole is different now. Player power is nothing compared to what it will be in the coming years. Even the PFA want it to be like that. [Post edited 5 Sep 10:18]

There is a sweet spot for player integration. If the majority or minority are long standing it is easy to integrate players. Once you get to a 50/50 level it becomes a blurred vision and it takes a lot of coaching to connect those halves and that has been evident in recent games. I think ripping it up now was the correct thing to do. In my sport I released several players in the summer that were great guys, excellent players and personal friends, but sometimes you need to cut down the trees to encourage new growth that wont have to fight for light in their shadows. Those players probably needed the regrowth too. All this sentiment is best kept for Grandads funeral, not competitive sport. Whether the decisions are right are wrong will become evident and that end result is what all coaches live and die by. These are coaches that see a day to day process and react to it. |

You might be settled in your job and not planning to leave. Then someone comes along and offers to quadruple your salary and makes it tax free. You love the idea of a once in a lifetime opportunity and the wife really wants you to take it. If your current boss doesn’t allow you to take it you will soon become unsettled. Life is fluid. |

More than half of the medicals I receive show an (issue) usually slight and of little concern. Sometimes there is a little more concern to it. You then make a decision, do I take the risk, manage him or eliminate the risk altogether and avoid him. That decision is usually influenced by other factors such as salary, other available options within the squad or outside of it. Failing a medical isn’t always absolute even if it is portrayed that way. |

But you are not dealing with facts. You are dealing in rumours. The only fact here is just as someone else pointed out , there is a pecking order. Things just don’t work like you are suggesting. |

Morsey is tiny. I cant be arsed to check, but i would be surprised if he is any taller than 5'8. Pretty sure Hackney would be taller TBH. [Post edited 9 Aug 20:49]

It is a kick in the teeth, but i wouldn't go as far as saying it is a 'massive' kick in the teeth. Hackney has a new agent and I am sure he wants to buy some time. I would say it might not be over yet and the club probably expected an initial rejection in that situation. Think we've played it pretty smart though. If the rumoured salary is true a PL club has to really want him rather than just bolster their ranks with him. The market the club is shopping in was always going to be towards the end of the window. The next Hutchinson was always going to be assessed by their parent club during a preseason. I am sure we expected the current squad to be more than capable of holding the fort until the reinforcements arrive. However, injuries and approaches have piled on some pressure. There is still some talent to arrive, we know that, and the business model needs there to be. |

Yes of course. But in the case of Broadhead (And we dont even know the situation) If the club had decided to take the risk then that's their choice. In the case of Sam, i would say it would be hard to find a guy with such integrity. Of course he would understand the club's needs. However, he has a family too. Now I love my role and my club to bits; I would run through a brick wall for it, but I would die for my family. [Post edited 9 Aug 19:57]

In every sense: Contract negotiations are not a one size fits all. I am frustrated with them often, albeit in a different sport. Even with much lesser sums of money involved, but the frustrations are the same as are the mindsets of the players. In my world. If I had player who plays most games, is at the end of his career, earns 40k per year, but is suddenly offered £120 k per year in a place he wants to move to for a life experience (Usually France in my world not Kuwait) I cannot keep that player. If I told him to honour his contract then he would be keen to do everything he can to reduce any risk or might even refuse. The disruption and risk to all parties (including the squad) is never worth It. You also would develop a negative reputation as a coach/manager, as player development is a key recruitment tool. If I had player B who is much younger, has a year left on his contract (We don’t have transfer fees) currently earns 40k per year and his offer is to return to his boyhood club/near home for a similar(ish) salary then the risk to him is minimal. Without so much of a financial risk i can discuss it, maybe compromise and the integrity might benefit him in the future; he might want to come back and play for me again, who knows, he is young enough. Every case is different. I am not suggesting any of this applies to Broadhead but his situation is clearly very different to Sam's. Sam is also very committed to his faith (I have met him) and i can see how moving to Kuwait would solidify that. |

He did indeed. I didn't mention Broadhead for a reason. What i will say however, is that every situation is different. There is little similarity between Broadhead's potential move to Wrexham and Morsey's desire to move on. |
 | Forum Reply | Sam Morsy at 18:48 9 Aug 2025
No. Completely different. Firstly we don't live in the 90's anymore. We cant keep players against their will and with the sums of money involved players are very reluctant to risk injury and jeopardise the move they desire. There is a bit I should add but I won't. Hutchinson is different, we have received a substantial bid and are playing hardball to maximise his value. I would say he has already gone in all but confirmation. |

ITFC being light in midfield is not Sam's issue. He had offers and wanted to go. There is little we can do about that. Its happened, we move on, and the challenge now for the likes of MA is respond to it. |
 | Forum Reply | Sam Morsy at 18:23 9 Aug 2025
That's typical player talk though. He wanted to leave and the club had little choice to say yes. |

Because he wanted to go. |

Well if you are looking for additional investment you are bound to quote potential asset sales arn't you. It' demonstrates the trading model? You could argue the figure is far higher than £100m so has exceeded his expectations. |

I am sure they would, we certainly do in rugby, and in fine detail. We do however, have the advantage of a smaller referee Pool and better/more respectful communication. Essentially with a wider interpretation of the rules. |
