Kier Starmer really is a grown up serious politician isn’t he?
at 16:49 11 May 2020

I have cause to cross paths with a few QCs through work and some of them are unbelievably clever people. Coupled with the ability to present and articulate their opinions they can really be impressive.

Johnson is a blagger but he will struggle to blag Starmer who will use Johnson's lack of attention on detail to tear him apart.

Pre booked Holidays for later in the year
at 06:29 23 Mar 2020

My wife works in travel and the situation changes dialy almost. At this point all the industry is worrying about is getting people home.

If you fail to pay the remaining payments you will breach the contract with Tui and they might then be able to scrap your holiday without giving a refund.

If you pay and FCO advice in July is not to travel then you'll be entitled to refund or rebooking. Lots of tour operators and airlines are trying to force people to take credit (for obvious reasons) but check T&Cs if a refund is what you want.

If FCO advice is you can travel in July but you decide not to then you'll have to take the hit.

The numbers of cases is dependent on testing rates which differ between countries. We will have far more cases than have been identified.

Numbers of deaths is only reliable comparable

Assume its because of the possible effect of the virus on economies causing a share price drop and therefor investors run to the safety of gold.

If you were Marcus Evans, what would you do?
at 08:54 24 Feb 2020

The glaringly obvious step that Evans hasn't taken is to install someone to set and oversee a long term football strategy. Everything is left with the 1st team manager. as a result every time a new manager comes in he has to start from scratch with a wide remit from a very low baseline. Both Hurst and Lambert have said a huge amount needs to be changed and it will take time. If there was a strategy to set up the infrastructure and direction the manager then can focus on the 1st team alone and on getting results. When a new manager is hired they should be hired on the basis they will buy into the strategy.

Lee O'Neil possibly has this role now but whether he will be up to it remains to be seen.

Anyone here tried really expensive wine?
at 19:15 16 Feb 2020

I’ve tried (but certainly not paid for- was a gift from a client) a first growth claret at £450 a bottle. It was good but not ‘that’ good. You could tell it had age and was a cut above but didn’t blow me away. Also tried a bottle at £180, that was very ordinary to me.

I like wine but they were probably both wasted on me.
