No. They have private money as well. She didnt pay to prevent the "justice". Giuffre wouldnt have sued someone who didnt have money int he first place, in all likelihood. No one here is defending epstein. What I have said is quite clear, and doesn't begin to do that. |

Its neither if she consented. Which is not something we know one way or another. Nor do we know, with any confidence, whether he knew that Epstein and pals had shipped her in or placed undue pressure on her. The queen did help financially. Realistically, money was what the case was always about. But I am not aware it was PUBLIC money. |

Of course its subjective. How can it be otherwise? Equally, you can't simply say its prejudiced. Apart from anything, a system of honours does not have a motivation, only the people running it. |

"everyone in society has equal access to all the resources needed for a happy and successful life? " What bit of that is not communism? Equal access to everything needed for happiness and success. Not just social basics, but everything necessary for happiness and success.... |

This buzzword "neo liberal" is pretty meaningless. Its seems ot be used as some implicit criticism of anything which is not essentially communist or fascist! |

Note remotely sound as it fails to apply the principle of separation of powers. The legislature is appointing judges, immediately inviting the prospect of loading the court in a particular manner and politicising judges whou ought to be independent. |

There is one huge advantage to a royal family over an elected head of state. An elected head of state wants to be there, and has his or her own agenda, as well as having to appeal to popular opinion to get the gig. At least the royals are effectively independent and not reliant on garnering votes or motivated by personal gain / power grabbing. There must be a better system than either though. |

Would they be titles now given to people for reasons? Don't get me wrong, hereditary titles should be long since abandoned. [Post edited 11 Sep 2022 10:24]

I do wonder whether his actually decent and genuine sounding message to charles the other day, was just the hint of an olive branch if someone were to take it. Equally, as somsone on R4 was saying the other day, you have to analyse him as a gangster, not a world leader. |

It really isnt the accepted position across politics and media. |

I imagine that if he had chosen otherwise, it would have happened otherwise. I am quite sure his mindset is steadfastly behind those ideas of duty and doing things properly and that he would have insisted upon it. |
 | Forum Reply | Are people missing the fact that this is about the 'sport' showing at 13:05 9 Sep 2022
Doesn't load but I suspect you are missing the point. Funerals have a purpose and only a moron would go along and be disrespectful at one because that upsets others. That is a long way from an active requirement to 'show respect'. What does it even mean? Why is cancelling something connected with respect for someone who died? Why Is it necessary to make a show of respect at all, whatever that means. |

The whole concept of showing respect is meaningless nonsense. Its a display of how respectful you are for the benefit of how others see you. It's a societal expectation with no obvious logic. I wonder if it all really stems from that human inclination to feel guilty about doing something enjoyable when someone else has died. |
