| News Comment | Evans Interview Released Tomorrow at 22:25:21
"We are going to try something different. It's going to be calculated but it's going to be different...Let's hope it works. Let's hope it bring a greater togetherness for the fans." I'm both excited and unnerved by these statements. The three managers hired by Evans -- Keane, Jewell, and McCarthy -- all had Premier League experience when they came on board. They were known commodities at the highest level, whatever the level of success. If I had to guess, I'd surmise that they are looking towards a younger manager with no top-level resume. That could be a Nathan Jones, or a Steven Gerrard. The former would bolster hope; the latter raises more questions than answers. |
| News Comment | Milne: New Sponsorship Will Bolster Funding at 17:14:35
I genuinely thought to double check the day, as I didn't want to be caught out by an April Fool's prank. In the present climate -- where the appropriateness of gambling companies as sports sponsors is becoming a more pressing issue -- this is an unseemly choice for a shirt sponsor by Ipswich Town. Some people might point out that a brewery previously served as the shirt sponsor, but a major distinction is that Greene King is a Suffolk-based company. The Daub are Stride Gaming company, based on documentation from its own site and AIM, is primarily based in Alderney, Guernsey and Mauritius. And this is besides the ghastly aesthetics of the logo. All in all, a strange, sad day for the club. |
| News Comment | Pablo Hits Back at Keane at 17:35:20
A beautiful response. From the heart, without a trace of calculation or a public relations staff's jargon. Pablo, you are a top bloke. Just watched the Coventry highlights again, for the umpteenth time. Still get chills. |
| News Comment | Villa Linked With £3.5m Move for Cresswell at 00:15:33
I'm attending the exhibition when Villa play the Portland Timbers in a few hours. I'll be sure to let Lambert know that his interest in Creswell is unwelcome. |
| News Comment | No Bid for Davies But Another Deal Could Be Close at 23:49:09
From Jewell's description of the current coveted striker, Baldock doesn't seem a candidate, unless there are 2 strikers on the horizon. The Wickham shout seems a more plausible one for the big centre forward. |
| News Comment | Town Fan Missing in Christchurch at 17:38:20
My thoughts go out to Suzanne and all other family and friends with loved ones who are still missing. I don't usually wear my Ipswich Town scarf to work, but I did today, and Phil's well being is firmly in my mind as I look at the scarf. |
| News Comment | Beattie Hits Out at Barnsley Cheers at 17:41:27
It appears that a common refrain in this argument is that because supporters pay good money they should be allowed to express their disdain in this manner. However, I don't beleive the cost of the ticket determines how a supporter should behave towards their own team. Saturday's cheering of Barnsley's passes was, at worst, patheitc, and, at best, a misguided attempt at irony. It was not only surprisng but shameful. I'll add that as a supporter based outside Europe, I don't attend games; I have the utmost repsect for the dilligent away support which follows Town throughout the country, and the season-ticket holders who pay large amounts to watch Ipswich. But wouldn't it be best if the select few who decided to applaud Barnsley's passing simply illustrated thier disgust by not attending games at Portman Road? |
