Former Blues Boss Hurst Returns to Shrewsbury
at 15:46:34

I actually thought he was quite hard done by. He took over a side leaking goals like a sieve and playing crap football, and did what any experienced manager would do first, and that was stop us leaking goals by making us much more solid defensively. He was on to a hiding to nothing really and some of his buys were not bad, Jackson is still with us,,. He was certainly not as bad as the berk that followed him , now, he really did set us back

Ipswich Town 0-0 Burnley - Match Report
at 09:43:46

Hladky was outstanding, didnt put a foot wrong and how good to see a goalkeeper coming out and catching, dont see that much these days. Luongo looks a great buy, very tenacious. I was glad to see Morsy come off, I was thinking at the time he gonna have to be subbed, already on a yelloow and I could see another coming, so well done McKenna, and Broadhead looks an absolute steal at 1.5M, I know Everton needed the money and I suspect a big sell on clause, but he has a bit of everything about him

McGreal: A Brilliant Appointment
at 15:16:40

I expect to see plenty of ipads coming out now with all the stats for who done the most running etc, but I recon he be mortified at looking at the stats for who put most tackles in especially in the Barrow game, it'll be more like who got close enough to make a tackle. One of his first jobs will be to sort out half the shower cook got in and get rid, the squad is to big and seriously lacking in quality, also need to have a look at maybe getting Simpson and Dobra back from loan because on current form they would go straight into the team. Its a hell of a gamble but good luck Kieran. 3 and half year contract is along one, so makes you wonder if cook was not there man unless they saw things that made them think he is never going to make it happen. So it looks like this is more of a long term appointment but lets hope he gets longer than our last one, Hirst. who wasnt given any time

Town Closing in On McKenna
at 16:37:28

if it is to be him then certainly no worse than all the other names flying about, but he will need to be more than just a good coach, he will need to be a great tactician and motivator to get anything from this shower. He also will need the right man by his side, as we have seen from both cook and lambert they are not the same manager without agood number 2. so I say good luck to him cos he is going to need it

McGreal: You Can Now See the Guys’ Shackles Breaking Off
at 11:07:18

I agree with many on here that it was refreshing to listen to McGreal, it all made sense and was a good listen, I do hope it works well for him but I think there is no doubt they want their own man in, but none of the names or those available are remotely inspiring. But whoever it is, i think there is no realistic chance of us making the play offs, its now at least 8 teams too far ahead of us, we would need a run akin to what Mansfield have done, i think thats 8 wins in 9 for them, and what the hell is Nigel Clough doing in that league, he is easily a championship manager, also Rooney is doing well at Derby, they had to play some kids because of covid, as if he didnt have enough problems

McGreal: Nowhere Near Good Enough
at 15:01:26

very dissapointing performance and result. we never seem to get a new manager bounce,,, Feel a bit for McGreal, thrown in a bit, but given all the names being mentioned I would leave him in it for a little while, he did a good job at colchester and had to do some building, But, I expect them to want someone in soonish for the transfer window. As for Warnock, he's in his 70s he really should be enjoying his retirement now, if he came its only till end of season so they wont do that,. Lets face it if we want a manager that can get us to the premiership there is only Allardyce and Farke and both are probably not interested. Lennon, now come on can we not remember the mess he did at Bolton. Derek McInnes may be quite an astute one, did well in scotland and wasnt given much time to sort out Bristol City. If your going to have a punt on lack of experience I would go for John Terry coz he wont tolerate lack of effort and not playing for the badge

Manager Cook Sacked
at 09:28:52

have to say i am pleased about this, I could never take to the guy, think he is arrogant and tactically inept. always looked like a rabbit in the headlights, panic merchant. Lets face it we have gone backwards since Lambert left. Who next,, well Farke is the stand out but neither us or he would entertain that, so Hughton but didnt go well at his last 2 jobs. Adkins, no, maybe we could entice Rooney as Derby may not exist next season. Allardyce would be perfect but doubt if he would be interested, so maybe leave McGreal in it for a while, I am sure he will get us organised. Just hope the yanks wont go for a big name to put us on the map,, re- Keane

Brentford Join Blackburn and QPR in Chase For Dozzell
at 09:38:26

I remember Brian Clough said its 10 per cent ability and 90 per cent mentality or something like that, for me I dont think he offers anything like enough, a couple of good passes over 90 minutes is not enough, definately not fit enough, but, if he has the right attitude then use our many coaches to coach players. I would be very disappointed to see the Dobra go and I would like to see a lot more of Simpson, but I would not be at all upset to see the back of Dozzell

Blues and Bolton Linked With Aldershot Midfielder
at 09:21:27

i personally think we should be looking at players in leagues below, there is plenty of good players at places like, crewe, cheltenham, newport, mansfield etc. but if we are to look in conference they would be wise to look at Tshimanga at borehamwood, 31 goals from 65 games at a club like that is exceptional, and at 24 not a bad age, vardy was no spring chicken when he was found. I also think Hurst was not given enough time or backing, Evans went for the cheaper option to get rid of the manager instead of backing him to get rid of the bad eggs, players didnt like him because he said they were'nt fit, how true thats turned out, so, would we be in a worse position if Hurst was still here, he was making us hard to beat and could see progress when he was sacked, but we certainly would not have been relegated without a whimper as we did under Lambert, who had plenty of time to turn it round. So, personally I am all for young and hungry as apposed to an ageing player passed his best dropping down. But as we have so many coaches now perhaps we could actually coach some of our own players for a change, as I cant think of 1 player that improved under Lambert. For me the jury is out on Cook, and I am not impressed with Jeffers as a coach, cant see what he can bring to the table, but, we live in hope

Lambert: I'm Seeing Marcus Face-to-Face Next Week
at 11:55:08

I think Evans gave Lambert a last throw of the dice by getting the last loans in which PL said he needed. They have a meeting next week, after we have inevitably lost to oxford, where a severance package will probably be negotiated. Then its a pick of possibly, cowley, jack Ross, pearson, cook, joey Barton, parkinson, Wagner[unlikely], Monk etc. But possibly best option is ask for applications as there will be plenty you dont think of that would apply, perhaps even the likes of john terry [not that i'm saying i want him] just the fact that it is still a desirable job with a squad of decent players. New manager just needs to get a tune out of them, I for one cannot think of 1 player that has improved under Lambert. Just give whoever a contract till end of this season or next

Lambert: Something Drastically Wrong Going Right Through the Club and It’s Not Good Enough
at 09:20:17

saxonblue74 you have it bang on. lambert is just deflecting attention. he has the tools to do the his job which is to win football matches, its o'neill's job to over see operations and structure. newcastle have had issues for years so have sunderland and when warnock took cardiff up he had to get a load of loan players to make a team, and so many other clubs in same situation. Evans has backed him best he can with salary cap, we have a very large squad with some good players that are not performing, what other manager in this league would not love to swap squads, not many. maybe a joey barton would give them a kick up the backside, [literally}

Blues Visit Posh Again Aiming to End Top Side Hoodoo
at 10:12:37

this is one game i'm afraid I cant see anything other than a home win. Going by the state of the pitch its going to be a scruffy game, if we start playing around at the back we'll get hammered, they are a very attacking side and its likely to be error strewn defensively. If we are going to win its going to have to be much more of a long ball game with 2 up front so Norwood will have to start. So its up to you Lambert, prove to us that saturdays win was'nt a flash in the pan

at 10:54:30

all swindons goals were defensible, dobra and dozzell are defensively inept. as for the wonder goal, graet strike but come on, he should have been closed down, dreadful.norwood made a difference when he came on but i would struggle to find anyone else to commend, maybe judge and downes made a bit of difference but still miles away from being as good as skuse. so disappointing against a very bang average swindon

Taylor: The Way We Started the First Half Wasn't Good Enough
at 10:26:31

very disjointed performance, looked like they havent been coached at all. both dobra and dozzell seem to offer nothing defensively, miss skuse, hopefully they just a bit ring rusty, but u would hope they would have been chomping at the bit to play. too many not aware of whats around them and no running into gaps, nothing very creative, they keep passing to feet instead of into space to run onto. swindon are not a very good side and were there for the taking. norwood too isolated. hopefully will improve now they back playing, but burton wont be easy with clean sheet hasselbank back there. we look a million miles away from an automatic promotion side. after watching rotherham earlier who will strugglee in championship, they are on a completely different level to us. the gap between us and a poor championship side is enormous

Blues Boss Lambert Linked With Celtic
at 18:09:58

i cant believe some of the stuff i am reading on here, lets clear 2 points up, firstly evans is not the real problem, he gave jewell and keane plenty but they squandered it all, they were poor managerial choices, 1 had been out of management for a few years and the other has an attitude problem, although i remember most on here hailing his appointment, i however thought he was a terrible choice, it was no secret that sunderland players and fans hated him and made it clear we were welcome to him. mcCarthy was a pretty good choice at the time, he just stayed to long and had to go in the end, lambert was not a terrible choice either at the time although there were plenty of better options, but he had plenty of time to turn things round but we went down with a wimper so alarm bells should of been ringing. so evans needs to change who advises him for all this, theres plenty of managers that do well with less money than we have.. secondly as for who else, god, where do i start, clearly some people do not know there football, paul cook, cotterill, monk, pearson,or my choice gus poyet with taricco as sidekick, and thats just the ones on top of my head, there must be plenty others, and forget howe, no chance with that and he wont go to celtic either cos he isnt catholic as far as i know. but I for one wont be sorry to see the back of him, tactically inept with no game management, he is reactive not proactive
