I don't know if it's been said elsewhere but I don't reckon on Sat the plan was to loan out Chappers which is why he started. I reckon the club thought Johnson would be off and as that hasn't materialised the club had to look to move on another player in an area we are well stocked so we can get down to the 25 registered players.
Nothing to back that up but given his leadership on and off the pitch I can't believe the plan was for him to move on ... unless something else has gone on behind the scenes.
We have no choice but to trust the manager and players we have now until Jan and back them. |

Ben Jacobs and Nicolo Schira already reporting the agreement in place with Sunderland to cancel the loan and he is returning to Chelsea.
And Bayern now called off the Jackson loan so Chelsea could end up with Jackson and Guiu back ... what a mess. Have to feel sorry for players CFC just using as pawns. [Post edited 31 Aug 22:58]

Yeah think Jackson and agent were refusing to come back as Jackson not part of plans so I think they asked Chelsea for other alternatives, so I guess cancelling Guiu loan was one. I think they had been looking at Sporting attacker Conrad Harder as well.
Guessing Guiu coming back means Jackson will sign at Bayern but read Chelsea wanted it to be permanent rather than a loan. |

As cover for Delap due to injury. Imagine if we had him on loan and CFC asked us no way would we be in a position to say OK. Maybe CFC have said he can go back in Jan and Sunderland think they have enough until then? |

This. If an official has seen it and issued a card it can't be checked after the game. There needs to be a change on this as if a challenge is dangerous if they make the mistake to not punish it during the game then they should post game so the player still gets the deserved ban. |

We need another very strong centre mid, we know we are getting injuries, suspensions and lots of b2b games so this is an area we must be very strong.
Would be a very good striker for me, we need the goals, we take our chances we can kill teams off but we always seem to give teams a sniff they can get something from games. |

Think Phil said we weren't in for Billing but then McAteer was only on a list yesterday but in the door today. I was really hoping we would be in for Billing so if not hopefully it's because someone else is lined up ready to join. |

Not a thing yet, but I think people are questioning the ambition if that is who we are truly looking to sign and the suggestions from John Percy posting (solid on all things LCFC that I have seen in recent years) is we are seriously looking. |

I hope we are in that pot of options. But Phil quashed a while ago but our options would appear to be dwindling unless there is something lined up waiting for the dominoes to drop. I don't see that Billing would be part of a chain, bid the money and get him in. Trying so very hard to be patient and trust MA and co. |

Yes £15M was rumour but in my calculations I assumed we could get to £5M plus £50K per week wage and it is still cheaper than Hackney.
I assume his expectations will drop soon but as a free agent he can still be picky if he really has multiple offers.
My worry as with many fans whoever we go in for we have lost so much time now getting players integrated to be effective in the next few weeks. |

I think you are right, and then Phil has quashed Billing too yet I am sure I have seen reputable journos (Darren Witcoop?) say we've had a second bid that was rejected.
Would really like Billing, big and physical could do a great job and would mean we're probably just about OK in that area so really really really need to sort the striker shortage. |

When I was trying to do some fag packet calcs on Hackney vs Brownhill over 3 seasons I saw from TransferMarkt that Brownhill was c.54K last season if that is believed and I can't see Burnley being able to afford much more than that but that could be a reduction on his PL wage from the season before.
At the end of the day that would probably be very top end for us and given I thought I read from a couple of places the Blades don't have much money which is why I struggle to see how this works. |
