I agree with some points, and disagree with some. I think we all see that a GK is a necessity. Guzan, Loach, Alexander and even Henderson would all be an improvement (Guzan or Alexander would be my first choice but I think Prem clubs will be interested in both). At least one CB is needed with Pearce fitting the bill perfectly and possibly another experienced one with Smith, Pearce and A.N. Other fighting for the two starting berths. I also think two much is being made of having two left footers at CB. It really doesn't make much difference and no one even mentions it when it comes to CM or striker. Then, a new RB is a must. Edwards has done brilliantly but a specialist (Ward, Halford or Lowton) would definitely improve the squad and allow CE to push forward and and provide further competition on the wings for JET, Carson and Murphy if he is signed permanently (which I am 50-50 over as I think it may stunt Carson's development - even though he has been great recently). I think Leadbitter should stay and provide competition for Drury and Hyam for the two deeper CM positions as he is suited to this position. I would then let Bowyer, one of Delaney or Sonko and Bullard (no time for sentiment) go, leaving Stevenson competing with Martin in AM. As we play one up front, I think three strikers is enough. Chopra as first choice with Scotland as sub/cover. Murray should be given his chance as third choice, so I see no need for signings here. All in all, evolution, not revolution with a few moving on and 3/4 coming in (all in defensive positions). This would leave us with a strong and flexible squad with good depth (at least two players who can play in each position) and a good balance of youth and experience. COYB!

Town Target Swindon Pair

Just looked at a Swindon fan-page. They all say that they will be gutted if these two go and that they are at least Championship standard. Oh and they talk of Caddis as a RB.

Jewell Hoping St Ledger Will Sign Today
at 15:47:46

Think we need to be looking at the positives. We have looked poor recently, particularly in defence but I think that a partnership of Sonko and St. Ledger could be good. One being more mobile and good on the deck and the other a powerhouse who clears everything in the air (sort of like a poor man's Ferdinand and Vidic). Hopefully Jewell will be looking for a RB and a holding midfielder now, enabling us to push Edwards to RM and Leadbitter onto the bench. We could do with another frontman too but that is not a priority right now.

Andrews Says No to Leeds
at 12:25:07

Think this would definitely be a good signing if it comes off and I agree that it would probably mean Bowyer being pushed forward more where I would back him to get amongst the goals.

As for people saying that it means we will be playing 4-5-1, I am not so sure. Having three good CMs (Leadbitter, Bowyer + new signing) at the club doesn't necessarily mean will will play three from the start. Jewell has always played 4-4-2 at his previous clubs and what with the abundance of strikers we have I would guess he will stick with it.

Even if we do go with a 4-5-1, I would not be disappointed. People saying that it is too defensive need to recognise that we would probably have Martin and JET, two very attack-minded players on the wings, and that we would probably operate much like Arsenal (who play with just RVP in the centre) plus Bowyer also supporting the attack. Much more of a 4-3-3 than 4-5-1 if you ask me.

Anyway, if this comes off and we add a CB and RB, I would quite honestly be delighted with our business dealings for the summer and think that, even in this tough league, we would have the squad and the manager to easily challenge for the play-offs and, dare I say, even the top two spots. Cheers
