Thread | Really excited for next season feel we will do amazing in the championship

Now the pressures off and the players know our fate maybe we might see one or two wins before the end of the season which would be nice but either way can’t wait until next season , going to games every week fully expecting to lose or scrape a draw if we are really lucky isn’t fun , the step up is a lot bigger than I think most of us expected , go down with some pride hopefully then have an enjoyable season next year and in reality we should be in the top 2-6 all season even taking into account losing delap, Cajuste & Phillips plus maybe one or two others. The squad we will have will be plenty good enough again even taking into account whether we keep the manager or lose him we should still have a great season. Then next time we are in the PL we will do it without the need to make 13 new signings in a summer which was our main issue this season. Very disappointed that we aren’t good enough for the PL but very excited about the next few years! |

Or desire of the players , it’s quite clear we’re fighting and following from a good performance at Forest on Monday this was another game that really could have gone either way , whilst we can’t fault the effort we just have to simply hold our hands up and say we aren’t good enough to be a premier league side , we’re not miles off and had we played the whole season with Encisio and palmer in goal and Phillips match fit as he now looks I suspect we would be in a lot better position than we are ! Sadly it’s just taken us to long to adapt with the amount of new players and injuries we have had and we lack the quality to win games at this level !
If we could maintain these performance levels until the end of the season at least we can show pride until the bitter end ! |

A lot of sense to me , we haven’t got months to wait for new signings to gel and forge relationships on the pitch so if you can bring someone in who is better than we currently have in the position and already forged a relationship with our main man then I can see the benefit of this signing. |

away from being a side that could stay up this season , as disappointing as it is to lose in the manner we did today and in recent games we can’t fault the effort and commitment from the players which was excellent today sadly the reality is we just aren’t quite good enough to stay up this season , had we managed to get 2-3 PL standard players in the summer I think we would have had enough as we are competitive in almost every game nobody’s thrashing us we just make too many errors and don’t have players that are able to come off the bench and change a game when we need it !

Should we go down as looks likely. I thought the team were fantastic today , very good controlled performance which thoroughly deserved 3 points , how on earth Chaplin wasn’t given a penalty I have no idea , seems like we have awful decisions go against us every week now and that doesn’t bode well unfortunately. 11vs11 they were never getting back in that game, it’s ironic as McKenna was taking Phillips off a minute earlier and told Cajuste to sit down and changed his mind for some reason sadly that backfired spectacularly as it was a tired challenge that got the second yellow card. Last week and this week we deserved 6 points but got 1 , with all the injuries , suspensions and rank bad luck we are getting it’s difficult to see who we are going to beat. Feel very sorry for the lads and KMK today deserved much better.

Thread | First game so far that we were out of our depth

Take Man City out of the equation and yesterday was the first time I left a stadium feeling like we were out of our depth and didn’t belong in the PL, at times it felt like a cup tie against a higher leagued opponent. In all other games I’ve seen something to suggest we could make a real go at staying up, just got to hope yesterday was a particularly bad day at the office! We really need to beat Everton now to keep the belief there as a defeat could be very damaging. I feel as though Wolves & Southampton will go down and then we are with another 3-4 sides in trying to avoid getting that other spot ! Losing Axel is a blow as his been very good this season, personally I would give Clarke a go against Everton ahead of Johnson if nothing else he has the passion for the club.
Next 3-4 games I feel will decide our season if we are still winless at the end of them then it won’t look great however a win or two and its game on ! COYB

Ashton has always managed to get the players we wanted in the Championship & League 1 but negotiating and landing PL players is a totally different ball game with so many more variables.
I personally am pleased we didn’t break the bank to get Broja I never felt comfortable with that deal signing an injured player with the insistence of a huge fee at the end seemed a big risk and has never worked well for us in the past, obviously the fact that we spent the whole of August trying to sign him with several failed attempts only for our main relegation rival to sign him from
Under us is disappointing and hopefully not something we live to regret . I think the disappointing part is we didn’t have a plan B and weren’t able to land another striker which makes Delap our most important player at the club now as any long term injury to him means we will have a bigger struggle on our hands than needed , I’m not sure if Hirst will prove PL standard but let’s hope he does .
Overall apart from the striker issue it’s been a very good window IMO and the club have really backed the manager extremely well so just now need to see the players Gel very quickly and then hopefully we will be ok . A point or more today is really important for confidence and morale |

Be too late ! That was on a par with the Maidstone loss considering we are now a £100m squad, our players should have dominated their opposing player but none of them did! |

If we play like we did first half and as we get fitter , blend new players in etc we should only improve on keys areas like the ones we were poor at in second half , Liverpool are a world class side who will be top 3 this season and we more than matched them for 45 mins , I would be amazed if there aren’t three worst sides than us come May !
Greaves , Hutch, Davis , Axel, Morsy all look like they will fine in the PL, Phillips is more than good enough and I think Sammy will get goals , one or two more good additions and under this

Can’t blame McKenna today starting 11 was as good as he could have gone with bar maybe Clarke for axel , he made all the right subs at the right times so no
Blame attached to him , the players tried second half but we offered nothing in an attacking sense and never looked likely to score despite seeing plenty of the ball
This is our best side and best manager in over 20 years and yet we still cannot beat them which is just incredible really ! Let’s hope we turn up in the play offs and steal the biggest derby win of all time ! |

It’s the manor of the defeat which is unacceptable, no promotion chasing side should ever be lose a game after leading in the 95th minute , it’s almost impossible to fathom how this can happen ! Our defending unfortunately is our Achilles heel and is the only reason that we may not go up this season
If we lose the game 2-1 in the 70th minute and battle hard to come back but don’t there wouldn’t be anywhere near the amount of hysteria , we need to get rid of this imposter syndrome and forget all this league 1 side rubbish we are bang in the middle of a promotion race which we deserve to be in and the mentality from fans shouldn’t be that we’re just happy to be taking part we as supporters have EVERY right to expect our side to have won that game yesterday not bottling it the way we did.
Minimum 7 wins from last 9 is needed now to have any chance of top two, tall order but we have to go for it and worst ways we make the playoffs as the form side. [Post edited 10 Mar 2024 6:53]

Cardiff were as bad second half as anyone I’ve seen , no threat , never looked capable of having a shot let anyone scoring , our game management was very poor after scoring , we lost control of the ball and appeared happy to just sit back rather than push to kill the game like we should have done . Although 9 games to go that’s a savage defeat to deal with emotionally and may be hard to come back from ! Very very poor [Post edited 9 Mar 2024 14:46]

Comfortably Every season for the last 18 years at the same point of each season. Whilst I was a little disappointed that we surrendered a 10-12 point advantage for a few weeks I think we can now look at how immense Leeds have been to win so many games on the spin and with the respective squad values we should only be proud to the extreme of the lads whatever happens now. We are all but guaranteed a play off finish and who knows if we keep winning Leeds may drop a point or two here or there but if not then we head into the play offs with some momentum and form. It’s so easy to forget where we have come from and just automatically expect miracles every week I’m guilty of it myself but I think we need to take a pragmatic view and say that the top 2 sides this season along with saints are the strongest the league has seen maybe ever and we are well outperforming our budget . |

My season ticket goes in the bin ! Why he didn’t start today I have no clue , he did More in one half than Jackson has done in 5 years at the club ! Well done Maidstone two chances two quality goals !
Our side were simply clueless in attack and the usual in defence , never has it been more obvious that we need strikers whatever the cost we need them , broadhead is not a goal scorer and can’t finish ! We will rightly receive more stick from the footballing world than you could imagine and I think this will now finish off our top two chances there’s no coming back from this , play offs it is ! |

What games do these supporters watch ? Hladky is the best passer of a ball not only at the club but also one of the best passing keepers in the country , he has more man of the match performances than any other town player this season and last time I saw was the highest rated keeper in the championship, what more can you ask from a goalkeeper ? Without him last night the games done and dusted before we equalise , wether you like Walton or not support the man who has the gloves as the manager (rightly) keeps playing him and that won’t change without injury or suspension |
