Thread | So almost certain we will face Norwich in the play offs now

Which is frustrating as we are so far ahead of them in terms of points
Can’t blame McKenna today starting 11 was as good as he could have gone with bar maybe Clarke for axel , he made all the right subs at the right times so no
Blame attached to him , the players tried second half but we offered nothing in an attacking sense and never looked likely to score despite seeing plenty of the ball
This is our best side and best manager in over 20 years and yet we still cannot beat them which is just incredible really ! Let’s hope we turn up in the play offs and steal the biggest derby win of all time ! |

Thread | Defeat happens and is not the issue here at all

It’s the manor of the defeat which is unacceptable, no promotion chasing side should ever be lose a game after leading in the 95th minute , it’s almost impossible to fathom how this can happen ! Our defending unfortunately is our Achilles heel and is the only reason that we may not go up this season
If we lose the game 2-1 in the 70th minute and battle hard to come back but don’t there wouldn’t be anywhere near the amount of hysteria , we need to get rid of this imposter syndrome and forget all this league 1 side rubbish we are bang in the middle of a promotion race which we deserve to be in and the mentality from fans shouldn’t be that we’re just happy to be taking part we as supporters have EVERY right to expect our side to have won that game yesterday not bottling it the way we did.
Minimum 7 wins from last 9 is needed now to have any chance of top two, tall order but we have to go for it and worst ways we make the playoffs as the form side. [Post edited 10 Mar 6:53]

Cardiff were as bad second half as anyone I’ve seen , no threat , never looked capable of having a shot let anyone scoring , our game management was very poor after scoring , we lost control of the ball and appeared happy to just sit back rather than push to kill the game like we should have done . Although 9 games to go that’s a savage defeat to deal with emotionally and may be hard to come back from ! Very very poor [Post edited 9 Mar 14:46]

Comfortably Every season for the last 18 years at the same point of each season. Whilst I was a little disappointed that we surrendered a 10-12 point advantage for a few weeks I think we can now look at how immense Leeds have been to win so many games on the spin and with the respective squad values we should only be proud to the extreme of the lads whatever happens now. We are all but guaranteed a play off finish and who knows if we keep winning Leeds may drop a point or two here or there but if not then we head into the play offs with some momentum and form. It’s so easy to forget where we have come from and just automatically expect miracles every week I’m guilty of it myself but I think we need to take a pragmatic view and say that the top 2 sides this season along with saints are the strongest the league has seen maybe ever and we are well outperforming our budget . |

My season ticket goes in the bin ! Why he didn’t start today I have no clue , he did More in one half than Jackson has done in 5 years at the club ! Great second half and although the defending was very poor two of their goals should have been disallowed , Al Hamadi looks promising as well [Post edited 3 Feb 17:10]

Well done Maidstone two chances two quality goals !
Our side were simply clueless in attack and the usual in defence , never has it been more obvious that we need strikers whatever the cost we need them , broadhead is not a goal scorer and can’t finish ! We will rightly receive more stick from the footballing world than you could imagine and I think this will now finish off our top two chances there’s no coming back from this , play offs it is ! |

What games do these supporters watch ? Hladky is the best passer of a ball not only at the club but also one of the best passing keepers in the country , he has more man of the match performances than any other town player this season and last time I saw was the highest rated keeper in the championship, what more can you ask from a goalkeeper ? Without him last night the games done and dusted before we equalise , wether you like Walton or not support the man who has the gloves as the manager (rightly) keeps playing him and that won’t change without injury or suspension |

Stoke are poor and with ten men you have to beat them but we created next to nothing all game and never looked like scoring. Hirst being out is clearly a huge loss and it’s difficult to see us winning many games without an adequate replacement as Jackson & Ladapo simply

However it happens as Leeds also saw yesterday and quite frankly we played well yesterday and as you would have expected were far the superior side and but for rank bad finishing would have been 3 goals up at half time. Perhaps Stoke & Hull aside Norwich were the worst side I have seen at PR this season and certainly the least adventurous of any side as they offered nothing going forward other than hopeful throws and balls in the box. The way the two clubs trajectories have changed over the last 18 months is simply incredible as they are now the side going nowhere for a long time to come. Next weeks game is huge avoid defeat at Leeds and we are in a fantastic position to go up this season, if we want to end the 14 year Norwich jinx we probably only have one more chance to do it this season for some time to come , amazing time to support the boys ! |

Despite being on an incredible run of form which would be considered championship winning form most seasons.
Reading Leeds fans arrogant comments usually on posts relating to Ipswich they are convinced that it’s inevitable they will overtake us however the above would suggest it’s far from the formality they think. Having the points in the bag is far better than being the ones chasing as we found out last season against Plymouth when despite having our incredible run their 6 point advantage in January could never be overturned.
IMO Leeds simply HAVE to beat us on the 23rd any other result would make us huge favourites to get an automatic spot. [Post edited 10 Dec 2023 8:43]

Do anything more than contest for a top 6 spot at best , they were pretty average throughout with a good ten minute spell where they should have scored !
Leicester also looked average in large spells first half and towards the ends when Norwich were commited in attack they looked very good , overall if Leicester are the benchmark and league winners as most predict then I don’t see much else to fear in the league and a top 6
Finish looks very achievable as the 1/3 odds the bookies have would suggest |

They were two leagues above us last season and still have the nucleus of a premiership squad who on their day are very very good players at this level, their front four will cause anyone trouble
We weren’t outclassed and won’t play many better sides this season so the fact we can score plenty of goals bodes well , we made a few errors in defence today and we’re ruthlessly punished which is what will happen against the better sides
We badly need a new striker next week as Ladapo is not a championship player and Hirst can’t play every game so we need another option.
I still fully believe we can be a top 6 side this season and hopefully we will bounce back with a win next Saturday |

Yet we still found a way to win and that is a mark of a good side winning when not at your best
We rode our luck in parts today and took our chance when it came , I expected a comfortable win today and in fairness QPR we’re better than I thought and I can’t seem them being anywhere near relegation this season.
3 games , 3 wins, all three sides we have beaten were significantly better than any league 1 side we faced last season and we have still won them all , this group of players , mangers etc never ceases to amaze me and I really do think we are destined for another great season |

Thread | Have a feeling a number of clubs will underestimate us this season

Both Sunderland and stokes fans fully expected them to both beat us , I keep hearing a lot about us having a league one squad which is clearly just lazy comments as we have come up , our squad is actually a championship squad which just happened to be assembled in league one which is a rare achievement, the fact we were statistically the best league one side ever apparently should demonstrate that we are more than just the average promoted league one side (sheff wed are an example of that ) Last season we more than held our own against Burnley twice and thrashed Rotherham both indicators that we are surely a championship side , our pre season results (I know it counts for little ) with wins against Preston , the German champions league side
And draws with Luton and the other German side coupled with the fact that before a ball was kicked the bookies had us had 6th favourites for promotion should
In itself make even the laziest of oppo fans sit up and think maybe there’s something in the hype
We are now 4th favourites for promotion and too short IMO after two games however if we keep injury free to our Best players we won’t be far off the top 6 and will
Have lots of fun along the way beating these sides who just expect to turn up and beat us become we were newly promoted |

I think we absolutely proved we do after the game
First 20 minutes it felt like a newly promoted side against a top championship side and felt weird for us to be on the receiving end of that, they were like us last season just without much quality in the box.
We still had the better chances over the whole game and IMO deserved to win, as our first game you couldn’t have picked many harder places to go and we showed lots of different aspects to our game which was pleasing.
I feel we definitely need to bring in a couple more players that can improve what we have in reserve as I’m not sure harness , ladapo , Jackson etc are championship players but our best 11 is certainly a top 6-10 side in my view.
Sunderland we’re clearly better then any side we played home or away last season and we got
The better of them so that bodes well as we will have easier tests ahead

Seems odd to me and certainly lost revenue , the Cambridge beamback was great and with this game likely to have either promotion , the title or missing out on promotion riding on it would surely attract 5-10,000 paying fans to PR, doesn’t quite seem the same watching at home on ifollow and invading the garden alone when we go up !!! |

It’s quite clear that we have the best players in the league by some distance, until January we were a top 3 side however with those signings we are now the best team , it’s a real shame we didn’t get to play Plymouth or Sheffield now as we would destroy both of them, promotion is of course the main thing however this team deserves to win the league and I think we will , our goal difference is the best in the country we score loads more than the other two sides and concede a lot less, our brand of football is light years ahead of both (especially Wednesday) and I have absolutely no doubt that regardless of who wins the league this season we will finish higher than both the other promoted sides in the championship next season, not a doubt in my mind .
Would be great for the fans if we can secure promotion against Exeter be lovely to do it on home soil COYB |
