 | Forum Thread | To properly fill the forward roles… at 05:57 12 Sep 2025
If McKenna is intent on keeping the same system that gained success with the previous 2 promotions then he needs to be ruthless with his selections in the starting 11. Changing to accommodate Clarke and philogene isn’t the answer at the moment. Altho Clarke has started to grow into things a little more, our system doesn’t fit his natural style/position. My thought is Akpom needs to play the Broadhead role, left side moving across to the left 10 when Davis goes forward. Now Chaplin has gone Nunez to play what becomes the second/right 10 role. Then the obvious Hutchinson replacement would be Egeli. Wide right cutting in on his left. Attacking transition would give us the 4 then of Davis/Akpom/Nunez/Egeli. Behind potentially Azon. The system hasnt been working with shoehorning Clarke and philogene in. Clarke needs to be wider before cutting in which means he gets in Davis’ way and loses the added second 10 broadhead gave us. Philogene hasn’t produced any end product at all, and then having them both start has vastly limited our attacking output. Of the 2 Jack Clarke looks like he will come good, but their needs to be a specific game plan to suit his style of play when he is on. He seems more of an attacking change from the bench at the moment. |
 | Forum Reply | Philogene stats from today make for ugly reading ... at 09:21 31 Aug 2025
There is definitely no scapegoating involved in this one today. It was just an absolutely honking display from the lad. He didn’t once drive at an opponent to go past and whip a cross in. Every time he got in the corner he just got stood up by the full back and didn’t even attempt the cross. Numerous times he could have laid the ball back to young but he just kept it himself and inevitably lost it. We need the Burns-esque dashes to the byline and driving a cross in across the 6 yard line or pulled back towards the penalty spot. Players attacking the goal to get on the end of it. All our success the last couple of years (pre prem) has come from fast attacks. Burns one side Davis the other. Beating their men. For some reason there now seems a total change in approach, the pace and attacking corners has gone and been replaced by a pedestrian stroll. And usually involves whoever is on the ball getting to the halfway line then checking inside with a 5 yard pass. Unfortunately having a touchline playing winger on the left totally nullifies leif Davis bombing on as they’re in his way. And we miss the broadhead left side moving into the inside 10 role to give him that space. It appears we’re playing the same system as before with the wrong players in the positions. To me it needs to be Akpom in the broadhead role, shuffling over to the inside left 10, Chaplin in his usual role as the other 10, and presumably Egeli as the Hutch replacement as the right sider cutting in. This will mean either a busy season for Ashley young getting up and down a la janoi or axle, or furlong being that guy. Ben Johnson isn’t the one as he does neither the attacking or defending at the required speed. Jack Clarke as the bench option for the left side and unfortunately philogene isn’t earning a place [Post edited 31 Aug 13:04]

By the end of Monday… Expect to see Cam humphries out on loan to Huddersfield Jack Taylor on loan for the season, or potentially a permanent depending on the finer details And the replacement by 7pm Monday will be Kalvin Phillips at Portman Road on another season long loan |

 | Forum Reply | Season ticket - Seat move window has opened at 20:48 23 Jun 2025
Does this mean the seat blockers in the lower north who are just plastic fans can now be frog marched to the ticket office with a blue flare held to their head? They can then be moved elsewhere in the ground to sit amongst the rest of the day trippers, part time fans and boring people? I’m guessing the real true fans can then stake their claim on the seats they want and build a blue padded plinth for their almighty Capo to stir the cauldron like atmosphere. |
 | Forum Reply | FAO: Blue Action at 12:01 5 Jun 2025
Ah yes, the true fans. Everyone else in the ground is merely a tourist. You’re doing a grand job of continuing to alienate people and try to split the fan base. Have you not realised that people don’t like the tone of disrespect being thrown around. Just because you think you’re going to make more noise than someone else, it DOES NOT make you any more of a fan than the next person. If you want to get a cauldron pit of an atmosphere going then make everything as inclusive as possible to everyone. Not taking the us vs them attitude and making out anyone who’s not in your section is an inconvenience. These posts really show up everything that is wrong with the self entitled fans. I think a specific position or stand for the previously mentioned ‘capo’ 😂 really is showing it all up as a look at me I’m the best fan ever job… |

Ahhh. Good to see the annual ‘We’re better fans than you’ thread. Or should it just be the thread of self entitlement? Whatever it is, it proves the idiocy of the fans of this club who really think they’re a ‘somebody’ because they have half a shandy and sing at the football. We’ve had the usual comment of anyone in the Sir Alf isn’t a fan, as they’re not the loudest. We’ve had the self entitlement of feeling they deserve centre of the stand behind the goal pretty much, just because… Let’s face it. If the atmosphere is going to get hot, it will get there down to a few factors. Firstly if the football being watched is decent. A fiery game or just a decent game will usually rouse the natives. Secondly if the majority of people knew what was actually being sung half the time that would help. I know I’m usually hearing people asking what’s being said. And that is the same regardless of where I may sit. Just because you think you’re the life and soul of Portman Road, it doesn’t give you divine right to anyone else’s seat that they’re paying their hard earned for. If that’s their seat and has been for however long then it’s tough. So make some noise where you all congregate, and do what you can to involve everyone with knowing what’s being sung etc. don’t then come on here and laugh at people that don’t sit in the north stand or don’t necessarily know the words to every chant in the world. Anyone who’s at those games is there as a fan. And no one on here is anymore important as a fan than the next person For a group of people who want to be supposedly inclusive in building this atmosphere you don’t half alienate yourself from a hell of a lot of folk. |

Just a ridiculous sub to make. For trying to ply on the copy yet attack he would have been perfect to keep on there. Considering the arsenal game, this whole sub and setup was baffling |
 | Forum Thread | Nothing learnt from arsenal at 15:50 26 Apr 2025
We went down to 10 men last week and tried to flood our defence to hold tight. We barely got out of our half. Surely with 4 defenders still on the pitch there is no reason to put another on for poor old Jack Clarke. Move enciso back and play 441 and at least give ourselves a chance to get the ball up the pitch. Although with the referee wearing a black and white striped shirt I’m not sure anything will help [Post edited 26 Apr 15:50]

 | Forum Reply | Some of our fans are a bit odd…. at 00:08 26 Jan 2025
As someone who has done many away games over the years each season, I’m thinking il probably stop bothering very soon. The sense of entitlement from the away crowd now is just down right annoying. Hearing ‘oh we must have brought the south stand today’. When some terrible chant didn’t kick off… I presume north standers are the only real fans of Ipswich town? Maybe only the folk who have a north stand season ticket should have access to away tickets? It seems that to be a proper away fan you have to drop the F word followed by the C word a few times every sentence and just generally question everyone being a plastic fan if they’re not doing the same? 🤷🏾 The sense of entitlement is strong in this current bunch. And don’t seem to realise some people just want to support their team and watch some -hopefully- good football along the way. Not everyone wants to shout and swear. I’m sure the majority will say I’m wrong on here. But the away kliq is enough to keep a lot of genuine fans away from enjoying an away day, however they feel they want to. |
 | Forum Reply | Missed Morsy at 10:11 17 Jan 2025
It’s amazing how even in this many replies you can see how differently everyone sees a match. I wonder if it’s down to subconscious favourites or just different takes on situations. Here’s my take though for what it’s worth. To me we never really gained any serious control of the ball at any point of the game. I was quite pleased to see cajuste and Phillips starting just for a potential change of dynamic in the middle. You know exactly what you’ll get with morsy each week. His style and way of playing is fairly unique and it serves him well. When he came on there was a noticeable change in the way we played. Suddenly all our football and little passing patterns were 10-15 yards or more deeper. We were chasing a game but the. Trying to play all our football on the edge of our box. Despite not having much of the ball the rest of the game we did at least seem to try and use it in the middle third of the pitch rather than our own box. I just found that slowed the game too much when we were chasing. The exact same patterns were there as usual. Walton-Morsy-Greaves-Walton-Morsy-O’Shea…. That was the passing pattern and we’d see if morsy could turn out at some point. All it really did was eventually back ourselves into the corner at right back by being pressed in. This same thing is what got Harry Clarke moved about against palace i believe it was. We eventually just pinned ourselves in that corner and then ended up losing the ball. I’d say we need to emphasise playing our actual football further forward where a break could put us through, rather than a break to the middle of the pitch. Maybe it requires a different role for Delap to hold the ball up more and bring someone like Morsy into the game facing the opposition goal rather than facing ours al the while? I don’t know if these ramblings make sense, but that was my take on the change that I saw when Morsy came on. It just wasn’t a game chasing sub to make unfortunately |

 | Forum Reply | I can't remember a worse goalkeeping display. at 22:13 27 Apr 2024
First rule of goalkeeping. If you parry the ball, push it to the side. Not back into the middle. Far from the first time he’s done it this season. And the goalkeeper has the best view of the pitch. To play a ball to morsy with an opposition player coming in close and fast is suicidal. Regardless of how good morsy is in a tight situation, it’s asking for trouble |
