| Forum Thread | Championship this year at 09:41 17 Jul 2023
There has been a lot made of the strength of the Championship this year compared to recent seasons and there is certainly something in that based on teams coming up from league 1 and down from the Prem. Looked at another way though, I see a lot of sides that are arguably weakened from last season, whether that is from selling prized assets (Coventry/Gyokeres) or facing financial pressures (WBA/Blackburn). Leaving out the relegated Prem teams (they'll be strong regardless of relative strength last season), I can only see a few clubs going into this season in a clearly stronger position than they were last year, Boro being the standout currently in this transfer window. Just wondered what people thought about which teams have actually improved their chances with their business in the transfer window so far? |
| Forum Thread | Matt Crooks at 12:45 4 Jul 2023
Genuine question, what would the boards reaction be if we resurrected our interest from a few seasons back in Matt Crooks? Putting aside what a saga it was last time, things are different now. Same division, in the last year of his contract like may Town targets, and has been a regular at this level now. Interesting BBC article back in Jan about Carrick seeing striker potential (thats good enough for me):- https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/64163388 Boro have been linked with quite a few strikers so he could be surplus to requirements, and Carricks relationship with KMck would be helpful. He's 29 so in his prime. Goal record, whilst low is at least comparable with Hirst, and he hasn't always been played as a striker. Any thoughts? |
| Forum Thread | ITFC Shirt idea at 10:35 29 Apr 2023
Whilst I won’t tempt fate, IF we do the business today (or at Fleetwood), who else would buy a shirt emblazoned with the words:- ‘Be careful what you wish for’ ITFC Promoted/Champions 2022-23 😉 |
| Forum Thread | Top end of League 1 looking weaker this year....... at 20:09 26 Jun 2022
Just looking at the top 11 last season (substituting promoted teams with relegated teams) and with transfer activity starting to take shape:- [Peterborough] - IMHO should be one of the favourites for automatic promotion. Like Rotherham. [Derby] - In a real mess. Not better than Wigan. Milton Keynes - Will be strong but have lost their best player. Will surely be worse off than last year? Wednesday - Upgraded in the transfer window. [Barnsley] - Losing best players, not replacing with proven quality. Definitely a downgrade on Sunderland last year. Wycombe - Probably about the same. But I think they were lucky to scrape the playoffs and imho they overachieved. Plymouth - Lost a bunch of loanees and Camara possibly about to exit. Might end up similar but not better. Oxford United - Selling players, probably worse off than last year. Bolton - Made some good signings. Bad start last year means they will be higher this time? Portsmouth - Bazunu, Jacobs gone. Curtis/Harness to follow. Surely weaker? Ipswich Town - Big Upgrade (hopefully!) with more to follow. No significant outgoings. Its early days, but I like how its shaping up for us! |
| Forum Thread | Richard Smallwood released by Hull at 20:42 18 May 2022
Anyone think we might be in for him? There was clearly some interest last summer. He’s 31 so not too old, and played 43 games for Hull this year. Could challenge Evans for that deeper lying midfield role, and provide a bit of experience……. |

Garcia, Poulter, Lowry…… No Justin Rose?! Can’t understand that decision myself. Would have picked him over Lowry or Poulter. |
