| News Comment | Ipswich Town 1-2 Maidstone United - Match Report at 17:24:48
Has anyone else spotted that we really don't play well on 12:30 kick-offs? Lack-lustre performances for Leeds away, Norwich home and now Maidstone. Not making any excuses, but that is a common thread. Maybe the medical team involved are getting the prep wrong? |
| News Comment | Ipswich Town 3-2 Plymouth Argyle - Match Report at 16:58:03
Can anyone let me know why Hutchinson got MoM award, when Hladky was so clearly our best player? Omari will be a good player once he actually delivers - and yesterday he wasted far too many opportunities to pick out others better placed than him. No end product. Looking forward to getting Wes back! |
| News Comment | John-Jules: Ipswich Style of Play Suits Me at 22:10:17
@BossMan: Whilst it's a fact that we fell short at the end of last season, there's no way you can call Burns a defender! He's a very effective, attacking wing back. I truly hope we can get a left side clone, and then we will have the attacking formation that McK is aiming for - especially with Morsey pushed forward as was the case in the last few games. I love the idea of one Tyreece in )who wants to play for us) and one out (who clearly doesn't). Hopefully he's more Ian Wright than JET!! |

I for one like the way that PH is thinking. He's aiming for a particular style of play, and sees a few departures being able to fund the resources to give him players that fit the mould. It's what Eddie Howe did at Bournemouth. It's what happened at Huddersfield. A £6.8M profit on Waggy (who I like but does not seem to quite fit the system) is really good business. In case you disagree, think back over the last few years. Could you put a polite name on the 'style' of football we've played? |
| News Comment | Town Agree Fee for Posh Winger Edwards at 16:56:21
Swn - we were near to being relegation fodder when McC joined us. Five seasons later the atmosphere was toxic prior to his departure, and the football on offer was the worst I've witnessed in 40+ years. So damn right - 6yrs of slide under boring, stubborn, self obsessed Mick. Let's get BEHIND the new manager, and the team instead of sniping. COYB |
| News Comment | Town Agree Fee for Posh Winger Edwards at 13:49:06
I do hope some people calm down a bit, and take time to understand why Hurst was brought in. The club was stagnating under McCarthy. Without Forest-like funding or parachute payments we won't compete financially, so we needed a manager who can: a) get the best out of existing players, b) add to them without spending millions and c) introduce a style of play that does not continue to bite the pants off fans d) does not take pride in antagonising loyal supporters, and e) bring through our youth players from academy to first team. All of those were lacking. So, for god's sake stop moaning and let the guy get in with the job. It's been a painful slide for 6 years - it's not going to be resolved in 6 weeks! |
| News Comment | Updated: Webster Set for Bristol City as Clubs Agree Fee at 20:21:47
I'm with the 50% such as judespiveyg who think this is good business. He is a GOOD player, but he is also injury prone and has an error in him. He's not the most physical or committed player, and is not an organiser either. So, as long as Hurst uses the money wisely, I'm pretty pleased with us making a large amount of money that can be reinvested in 2-3 other riding stars from the lower leagues. |
| News Comment | Hurst: Proud, Honoured and Very Excited About Challenge Ahead at 12:15:55
Listening to the full press conference, it's clear he wants a high energy team, playing good football. Tick. He's identified wingers that deliver end-product as a missing element to our teams. Tick. He sounds like he will push Marcus Evans if needed. Tick. He wants to bring the academy players through. Tick. An assistant who's not a yes man. Tick. Ambitious. Tick. Very Ipswich. Overall I'm very happy with this appointment. New season ticket application in. Looking forward to ENJOYING going to PR again. |
| News Comment | McCarthy Hints at Early Town Exit at 20:17:03
I have no problem with MM going straight away - after all it was a bit odd for the fans as well as him. What would really upset me though is if we were to just fish for a new manager in the pond of out-of-a-job has-beens. McClaren, Pardew etc. are really NOT what we need. Let's have Gerard Nash for the next 7 games, and blood some young talent whilst sounding out modern, progressive, promotion-chasing managers such as Paul Cook, Darren Ferguson, Nathan Jones, Maurice Steijn etc. |

I'm with MickZZZzzzzTactics on this one. Liking what I read about Steijn. He's quoted as being up for an overseas challenge in UK, and the ITFC-Dutch connection would be grear for those of us old enough to remember. How about Thijssen or Muhren as assistants? |
| News Comment | McCarthy: Tuesday's Atmosphere Was a Disgrace at 07:10:22
This is so typical McCarthy, blaming the fans. We don't pick the team. We don't set it up to play boring anti-football. We pay money to watch, not earn £1m per year to turn out rubbish year on year. Headline should be: McCarthy is a disgrace. |
| News Comment | Ipswich Town 0-3 Hull City - Match Report at 08:26:00
I'm heartbroken, sad to my stomach, BUT I'm also strangely hopeful. Last season when we snatched a draw against the rock-bottom Rotherham in the dying moments, I knew I'd fallen out of love because of McCarthy. NOT with the club. They are my enduring love, but with that bloody man and his anti-football and disrepect for every decent fan. That is why I cancelled my season ticket last year, like 5000 others in the last three years. Now for the hope bit .... If Mick goes now, as surely he must, then I will renew. I hope there are thousands of others who feel like me. Love Ipswich, hate McCarthy. |
| News Comment | Ipswich Town 0-1 Cardiff City - Match Report at 16:38:50
@Gcon, it's not ALL down to MM, but I for one voted with my feet after getting sick leave of his boring tactics, disrespect for fans, and one dimensional (lack of) style. I suspect many other uses-to-be season ticket holders feel the same. All of the people left, right, in front and behind of me at PR for the last 3yrs have the same opinions. I"ll remain on strike, withdrawing my funding of this arrogant man, until the owner sees sense. Love Ipswich, loathe McCarthy. |
| News Comment | Ipswich Town 0-1 Cardiff City - Match Report at 23:57:05
Bert, you deserve a medal. There should be nothing but respect for the dwindling number of fans that have not had the stuffing knocked out of them yet. I'm really sorry that I've voted with my feet and my wallet. Normal service will be resumed as soon as MM departs for pastures new :) |
| Blog Comment | This Might Rub You Up the Wrong Way, it Might Not! at 23:15:00
Brilliant post. Echoes my sentiments. I just took a year longer to fall out of love. In my most painful email ever, I informed ITFC Ticket Office of the sole reason for my season ticket cancellation (MM) and requested that they add me to their ‘call me when Mick leaves’ list. I got a lovely reply saying that they fully understood, and would do so! If only the arrogant one and the scarlet pimpernel would realise how simple it would be to get many thousand true blue fans back onside. |
| News Comment | Ipswich Town 0-1 Cardiff City - Match Report at 22:52:30
Sorry BraveDave but I really beg to differ. We had a really exciting striker called Freddie. McCarthy ruined him. Grant Ward scored a hat-trick on his debut. McCarthy ruined him. Exciting youngsters in Emmanuel and Kenlock. Where are they? Downes, Nydam. He bought Garner and Waghorn, who started with a flourish. He's slowly ruining them too. McGoldrick, one of our rare talents (if somewhat frail) clearly does not want to play for McCarthy. And that's before you start on the other side of the coin and look at Mick's favourites and his defend-nil style of anti-football. Its McCarthy's job to coach, to manage, to get the very best out of this team. There's no way you can say that he is succeeding. MM out. End of. |
| News Comment | Ipswich Town 0-1 Cardiff City - Match Report at 22:32:29
I have the same feeling that I had this time last year. Please MM just go. Leave now. I want my old Ipswich Town back, and I'm not alone. There's over 5000 season-ticket-holders-in-waiting just wishing you'd do the decent thing, but we all know you won't. I just prey Marcus is a proper businessman, and realises that sending out renewals whilst this idiot is still the manager would be disastrous. Less than 10k renewals. Please, please, go. Now. This instant. I'll pay for your taxi. |
