 | News Comment | Szmodics: I Refused to Play For Blackburn at 21:03:23
Lost a lot of respect for him with those comments. I bet he still picked up his wages every week! Imagine if we did if we were waiting for an outcome from an interview for another job. Footballers need to learn that they are under contract until a deal is done, so you do what the club is asking until you leave. Alternatively agree a period of unpaid absence with the club and that’s fair enough. Gives us a taste of things to come if he wants to leave ITFC. |
 | News Comment | Hutchinson Focused on Euros at 12:36:35
Not knocking a couple of the posts above, but I think people need to understand how players contracts are negiotated. Ashton (or the club) wouldn’t have put in a relegation release clause upfront, this is more likely what Omari’s agent insisted was put in to protect his clients interests before they would sign. I expect the club had a go at negotiating that out or a higher fee, but ultimately their hands are tied if the agent won’t budge. |
 | News Comment | Town Keen to Loan Chelsea Striker Guiu at 18:49:35
In my book something that sounds good on paper, but would be a disaster in practice. The championship is a completely different proposition and style of playing - he would get eaten alive and would probably be recalled pretty quickly after being benched. |
 | News Comment | Delap Left Out of England Squad at 10:45:19
On the positive side I expect that there were international appearance clauses built into the contract when we signed Delap, so these not being activated yet helps with FFP. |
 | News Comment | Arsenal Youngster Joins Town at 08:54:29
Not sure I entirely agree with the above. We seem to be good at buying in young talent that has been mostly developed and making them even better, but for players in the academy we have a pretty poor development conversion rate - it’s the one thing I think we need to have a serious look at. |
 | News Comment | McKenna: A Painful Game For Us, City Were Too Strong in All Aspects at 16:23:05
Tough game against a great side - have to say I was very impressed with the first 25 mins - we got the press right and gave them problems, rather than just sitting back. However their goal was coming as we seemed to be a yard off on our marking and had a few warnings. Still not entirely convinced about whether we can continue to have Leif playing so far forward, it leaves us exposed at the back and we have suffered in a quite a few recent games. Difficult balance to achieve given what he gives us in the attacking third. Hopefully the lads can put this (and probably the upcoming Liverpool game) behind them and keep the faith as we can definitely cause teams problems, so no reason we can’t get the points required. |
 | News Comment | McKenna: There Are Still Areas Where We Feel We Need to Add at 16:41:59
If it was me I would be looking at one or two Centre Backs - we need additional premier league experience as it will take a while for our existing defenders to really get up to speed. When Liverpool switched up a gear we were pretty much exposed due to not being tight enough and could have conceded a hat full. I think we have plenty to give teams problems going forward (but will need to finish the chances) - but at the back, whilst certainly not knocking the lads, - the Premier is not very forgiving when you give quality players even a yard of space. |
 | News Comment | Town Complete Phillips Loan Signing at 19:18:21
Hopefully this turns out similar to what Luton got last year when they signed Ross Barkley - he had a number of critics due to struggling to get playing time, but was exceptional for them and was close to helping them stay up. Good luck Kalvin for a fantastic season ahead and COYB for tomorrow. |
 | News Comment | Town £30m Hull City Double Bid Report at 12:54:34
Would be happy with both of these - however does anyone know what our likely limit is on total transfer spending under FFP? Absolutely happy that Ashton is on top of it all, but assume we won’t be able to splash out too many more big fees if this one comes off? |
 | News Comment | Leicester Thrash Saints to Go Four Points Clear at 22:49:43
Just out of interest- should we fall into play-offs, I’m assuming we wouldn’t be able to use Ahadme or Ladapo if they returned from loan before the games? (would be useful to have extra striking options, but assume they are not in our registered squad so couldn’t play?) |
 | News Comment | Leicester Thrash Saints to Go Four Points Clear at 22:36:50
2 wins out of our last three games and I reckon we will go up. Can see Leeds getting 4 points from their last two games, rather than two wins. We do have a tough two games coming up - to be honest I think Hull will be difficult, but hopefully Coventry will still have a cup hangover. Keep the faith everyone- it has been a great season and the lads and manager have given everything. |
 | News Comment | Former Blues Boss Hurst Returns to Shrewsbury at 22:50:08
In terms of ITFC managers (that had a decent amount of time) I would say Duncan, Jewell, Keane and Lambert are the ones that I feel failed the club. People may say Cook as well, but for me although he didn’t get the job done in the end he did massive ground work to set up a platform for KMc to work the magic. Just my opinion of course…. |
 | News Comment | Former Blues Boss Hurst Returns to Shrewsbury at 13:22:10
Just to add - imagine some will reflect on what KMc has done - but he has been able to recruit players from the leagues above - not below. Yes he is an outstanding coach and we are blessed to have him, but he probably wouldn’t have been able to achieve what he has without the financial backing. |
 | News Comment | Former Blues Boss Hurst Returns to Shrewsbury at 13:14:51
Ultimately Paul Hirst isn’t a bad manager - he has a decent record. Why didn’t it work out at ITFC, it was simply that he tried to change too much too fast (in terms of players and style) - this particularly the case with bringing through lower league players. Let’s face it Paul Cook didn’t quite pull it off either during his time, and may have had a similar outcome had we been in the championship. One or two at that level would have been about the max for a championship side. Whilst ME would have to some degree tied his hands on the job brief, a more experienced manager at championship level would have followed a slightly more slower approach. However, it’s like all of us - you only learn through mistakes. Shame we had to experience this - but I don’t particularly hold a grudge. |
 | News Comment | Blues Linked With Moore Loan Return at 21:58:40
We only need one KM at Ipswich and we already have him (lol). Personally I would like Sinclair from QPR and have run the rule over langstaff at Notts County (a goal machine - but could he step up). |
 | News Comment | Rotherham United 2-2 Ipswich Town - Match Report at 22:28:53
Let’s all remember One defeat all season - yes we didn’t get the three points today, but we can’t be perfect every week. People have been commenting on Hurst, Ladapo and Chaplin tonite - but remember how many we have scored. Our style is set up for goals all over the pitch which has been proven all season. We will concede given our elevated wing backs, so let’s just take it as a bad day at the office and move on - we are in a great position. |
