I did indeed fulfil the fixture.
I was the 4th official.
And, yes I would, if called upon, been completely fair. It would not have crossed my mind, for a second, to be anything other than fair.
I believe most referee's are unbiased no matter their allegiance, why ruin a really good career for the sake of a dubious decision, particularly with all the camera's, even at a lower level.
However, nowadays to avoid such controversy, is the correct decision.
Another point, years ago (before 4th officials) if one of the officials were injured there was a tannoy announcement for a qualified referee to deputise. I would think, they would be a home supporter. Were they unbiased ? [Post edited 2 Jun 8:00]

I was the first round but we lost in the quarter finals to Lukomotive Leipzig, on penalties.
Allan Hunter missed the sudden death kick. Remember listening to the match on the radio. So disappointed.
I think the Mick Mills 'goal' against Real was (eventually) given as an own goal. |
