Bazza8564 Downes? Seriously? He is trouble wherever he goes. No thank you. Let him suffer with Southampton. It is true, though, that the team needs more strength in midfield to be able to hold onto games and not concede so often after being ahead. This season has been characterised by losing so many points from winning positions. A more canny Ipswich might have finished mid-table but for being overrun in midfield. |
 | News Comment | McKenna Commits Future to Town at 22:18:37
Why on Earth would he EVER want to go to a smaller club like Brighton or Crystal Palace? Far fewer fans and no history. If he stays at Ipswich for the duration of his contract he is guaranteed legendary status and a job for life if he wants it with virtually no risk of being fired unlike anywhere else. |
 | News Comment | Town Topic: Gamechanger Takeover Four Years On at 12:49:41
Today marks the fourth anniversary of Gamechanger’s takeover of Town. While we're all hurting a fair bit at the moment, it’s been a remarkable period in the club’s history. What have been your highlights? Undoubtedly, the highlight is the astonishing level of support and, despite the impending relegation, the continuous upward trend in performance at the club in every respect. |
 | News Comment | AFC Bournemouth 1-2 Ipswich Town - Match Report at 21:54:49
As Steve Coppell once said, "just because you are dead, it doesn't mean you should just lie down and let yourself be buried" In any case, we're not dead yet. Watch out Wolverhampton! |
 | News Comment | Johnson, Venus, Naylor and Brogan Inducted Into Hall of Fame at 12:56:44
Frank Brogan - a true Town legend. He was a great penalty-taker. However, my main memory of him was in a pre-season friendly in 1968 against Arbroath. Town were 0-3 down at half-time but a Frank scored a second-half hat-trick to help in a 4-3 victory. |
 | News Comment | Coventry City 1-4 Ipswich Town - Match Report at 19:16:50
That's a really nice confidence booster after last week's disappointment. Coventry have been doing well lately and any win is good regardless of the opposition. |
 | News Comment | Saints Unwilling to Sell Downes to Relegation Rival at 13:23:24
It very rarely works out for any player at any club they return to. Only two worked for Ipswich Town in its history: Ray Crawford and John Wark. And Downes is nowhere near the class of either of those two. The current urgent problem is obviously the goalkeeper which the club has done something about today. There are other, flexible players in the squad who could do a job in midfield better than Downes. |
 | News Comment | Edmundson Fee and Personal Terms Agreed at 11:16:29
Once a blue ... part of the more positive history of the club. Good deal all round. A fine player going to play for another very decent man in Michael Carrick who is another very promising young British coach. |
 | News Comment | Enciso Loan Signing Confirmed at 22:04:33
Top photo looks photoshopped. Either that or he is a thunderbird puppet. 5' 8" - not exactly a target man so he must come with other benefits. |
 | News Comment | Delap: I'm Just Focused on Ipswich at 12:35:23
Liam Delap came to Ipswich to improve as a player under Kieran McKenna and, more importantly, to play regularly. Why would he go so soon to a club like Chelsea (or City, Liverpool, Juventus) where he would not be guaranteed a starting place? The only way he will develop into a top player, as many people are saying he will, is to continue to develop by playing every match for Ipswich under possibly the best coaching set up in the country. When he eventually pulls on his England shirt for the time, it will be as a player for Ipswich Town. |
